Personally I wish he would finish the game instead of virtue signaling on twitter

I'm patient enough to not complain. I haven't touched it since Greed came out because I realized the levels were just going to get more and more difficult, and I was going to keep losing my muscle memory in between updates

      >virtue signaling is when person says thing on social media
      >no one believes anything, they just say things for imaginary points
      >please ignore how insane this sounds

I hope you hold this same opinion about trans rights and every other stupid social issue

I don’t care about those issues. This is Ganker - video games, not Ganker - trannies. Get a fricking clue.

I mean he's almost done. There's like less than 15% of the game left at this point.

It's just a marketing ploy. He's 100% seething over people pirating the game, but it's more advantageous for him to virtue signal like this than to just ignore it or throw a tantrum over piracy

this might be the most cynical thing I've seen all day. buying a url that says we hate money and tweeting it with a pirate flag and it just redirects to your steam store page. jesus christ

Dave Oshry's shtick has been buying a billion joke URLs that redirect to the store page for like a decade now, and been using "we hate money" as his company's slogan for almost as long.

doesn't seem like he hates money that much considering he wants me to give him some

I didn't say the joke was funny. Just that it's not some sudden cash-in on this tweet.

as another moderately successful indie dev i will back them up. it is never bad for people to pirate. they werent going to buy the game so you shouldn't see it as a lost sale. if they decide to buy the game later cool, if they decide to stream the game or discuss it with friends also cool. overall i think it is bullshit we dont have ubi because i dont much care about making money. i just enjoy putting games out there for people to play and i dont want them to miss out just because they are poor. please be cool to each other anons.

Factorio is a good example for this. No sales, easy to pirate, people still buy a copy in the end.

Why would he? Filesharing doesn't harm sales.

Is that why I feel obligated to shill games I enjoy but didn't pay for on Ganker?

Understanding that piracy isn't the grand evil that big publishers make it out to be is admirable, but encouraging the belief that "It's okay to pirate if you can justify it to yourself!" when tons of other struggling indie devs that don't have the free publicity of youtubers and e-celebs shilling your game for you feels like an butthole move. I'm sure there are plenty of other indie devs who accept that piracy will happen regardless, but would prefer that someone like this doesn't advertise that it's okay to do it to THEIR games too, enabling a bunch of poorgays and third worlders to spread their cancer to communities that don't deserve it.

There is not A SINGLE 10/10 masterpiece indie game that wasn't successful.

      Not a single one.

If your game is not successful make a better game

This is true but far more 9/10s go forgotten than succeed. Meanwhile most of the trash that succeeds is unplayable garbage.
It's exactly the same as any other industry, unless you are actually perfect and best-in-field success is pure luck. And yes, games matter more than the half dozen or so 10/10s ever made you moron.

PCnigs have to be the biggest manchildren. Literally have a dev saying he doesn’t care if you steal his game and that STILL isn’t enough.

Piracy literally helps the industry. I've never bought a single game since I built my own PC and the industry is growing stronger than ever.

I played more games when I pirated.
I only downloaded shit I wanted because everything was always downloadable in the future.

Piracy is dope, it's hard to sell shit to you homosexuals, hard to get clout when nobody will even give you a chance. Piracy side steps this. Most people like free shit.

Why doesn't he just release his games for free and ask for donations if he actually believes giving away your shit for free wouldn't hurt sales? Checkmate commies.
