Please stop, it's annoying and it isn't funny or interesting. Trying to force a meme will just breed resentment.
its kinda funny
I laughed. have a nice day
Oh look Jabba can walk after all.

What if he is actually circumcised but just restored
I played tunic recently. This is peak comfy. I just need to get Dragon's crown to stop stuttering.
the wait time on this thing is too long. by the time I got one I wouldn't want it any more, sorry gabe
are you going to stop liking video games or something
I live life on the edge, pretty good chance I'll be de dead by then
Holy shit
That's not Oblivion.
and thank god for that
OH NONONONO AHAHAAHAHAHAHAH

>MUHHH METACRITIC SCORES
>HEH GUESS I SETTLED THAT ONE
Who cares? Morrowind is objectively the better game you pleb. I don't care that the professional video game critic score is marginally higher than MW on average.
What mod are you using for controller support?
Not OP but OpenMW
You don't need controller support, the Steam Deck has input settings just like Steam.
$500 to play a game even your phone can run with openmw
I paid 400 but I'm actually going to play PS4 games unlike OP.
Phones are for morons. Go back.
Agreed. We don't deserve it.
I wish the screen wasn't so painfully mediocre. If the Steam Deck 2 has an OLED screen I'll go for one
I checked out a color calibration somebody posted and it looks close enough to oled for me. You can make the colors pop a lot more.
It's weird, the comparisons I've seen posted in these threads look nothing like what I'm experiencing. At full brightness the screen looks great and I'd have to actively compare it to other screens to even see a difference.
I believe it. Aside from the weird Ace Attorney picture the Deck's screen looks kinda vivid tbh. Gonna try display calibration V2 and post in a future thread about how it compares to a Switch Oled to end this meme for good.
The black levels are shit
Decka suffer from backlight bleed, really noticeable on corners and 4:3 games. They really have to improve display for next one. Thats my genuinely one bigger gripe
How's Diablo PC controls on the deck?
Pretty good, need a little tweaking for shortcuts, but its all easily programmable
OLED is garbage tech
Emubros, is the deck screen big enough to comfortably/accurately emulate DS games? If so, do you prefer a traditional top and bottom format or side by side?
Only if its held vertically
which dq is that
PS2 remake of DQV.
It's okay. I prefer playing DS games where one screen is pretty much primary, and having only that screen fullscreened and then hotkey screenswapping to the other one when necessary. If you have to do the vertical layout it's just a tad smidge on the right side.
Why is morrowind the poster boy for deck gaming
Idk. I’ve always dreamed of playing Morrowind on mobile. Can’t get it on switch because it’s an Xbox exclusive. The only other game I play regularly is slay the spire, which I have on switch and the phone. Would be cool to have Morrowind. It’s also dumb that Bethesda hasn’t done a remaster or rerelease bundle. I keep hoping they will so I can get it on switch
Do you even see the UI on a screen that small.
My Deck is arriving tomorrow, lads. What's the first thing I should do to it?
install windows
Install windows to go on an sd. Best buy sells a 512 gb sd for $65.
Don't install windows as it drains battery like a motherfricker, removes most features and has lower FPS on most titles.
You should install Proton-up which installs a custom compatibility layer that you can enable in steam it has about 4x as much compatible games than steam's original version of proton.
Basically every PC game will work that way.
>got my deck
>All I've been doing is playing Ys origins on it
Am I wasting it's potential?
I was planning on putting rom because I want to play Majora's mask N64 but I'm not sure how complicated that is.
It's not. Look into EmuDeck. It's a one click installer that sets up most emulators under the sun for you and provides a tool you can use to scan your emulation folder and automatically add them as games to steam.
Is there a way to add roms easily without an SD card..I don't have one.
Emudeck asks you on first install whether you want your shit on an SD card or on the HDD, moving the roms to the Deck is done in desktop mode and if you're transferring them from Windows there's a number of ways to do it. I used warpinator
Still convinced Deck gays spend more time shitposting and making YouTube videos than actually playing games.
I'm sure you are fanboy-kun.
I buy whatever has games I want to play how I want to play them. The mid 2000's console wars are dead and you can play almost anything on your phone or PC. It's all about convenience, price and games. And the Deck is only 1/3 in that category.
What else should they do after their 2 hour battery runs out?
Can you read the dialogue?
>still cant run Warzone
Its worthless, but hey the normie gays will eat it up i guess.
>handheld PC released by gaben
>won't buy cuz it won't run CoD
>"pfft, normie machine"
anon, YOU'RE the normie in this situation
Do people still play the mindless MP shooter games after CoD, Titanfall, Overwatch, Gears, Halo, CSGO and everything else? How did this shit not become boring 10 years ago? Half Life 1 sounds like a better time than getting into a lobby for anybody that shit.
I agree, but hey, people like guns.
What's funny is they don't know how they work.
Would rather emulate splatoon and take full advantage of gyro controls on Steam Deck than play a rooty tooty point and shooty cia funded game
I still play Titanfall 2 every day
>CoD Battle Royale
>not completely normie tier
?t=317
runs warzone just fine
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
cant run Warzone
But you can
?t=400
Why would you have a nice day in the foot by playing Morrowind without KB+mouse? Seems like the opposite of comfy.
Set up controls for dagger fall yesterday and didnt end up using the abxy buttons at all..
Yep, it's gamer time.
Say I wanted retroarch on this bastard. Which version would you recommend? I heard the one on steam was shit?
The one emudeck installs with everything else, it's braindead.
Emudeck is garbage and does not suit my needs. Which is why I asked about retroarch.
You don't own a deck, I'm sure there's a thread full of Chinese handheld owners who will be happy to help you with yours.
You're moronic. I don;t want to use emudeck because I don't want to configure hotkeys manually for every game, and retroarch has a global configuration file that normalises controls across all cores.
Also, I want to use external USBs when I "dock" the deck to a usb-c hub, and the steam UI client doesn't recognise them automatically after they have been detached and reattached, so only opening through retroarch would allow me to see their filesystems.
>chink boogeyman
You could just SAY that you're scared of the looming threat that the AYN Loki max poses to you, it's okay.
I've seen similar posts to yours for months, it's not very creative but I admire your dedication. Keybinds don't need to be configured per game as the defaults have worked just fine. You can also just Google it, with spacing like that I'm sure you know where you should be looking.
>Keybinds don't need to be configured per game as the defaults have worked just fine.
hotkeys don't.
Why not just admit you don't know how to answer my quandary instead of throwing everything you have into this weird bait? You've burned through the "you don't have a deck" line and the "chink shill" bit and the "reddit spacing" gambit already, what do you have left?
did you try emulationstation? It might adhere to external usb more easily
Also, side not for anyone living in the USA or canada who wants to try the "battery pack stuck to the back of the deck" setup, there is a guy selling the deckmate grip and puck system that looks great. I want to get one but he won't ship to the UK
Emudeck is absolute dogshit and only for the lowest of the low Black person moron gorillas who only know how to slap a touchscreen.
Emulationstation should let you access the external without a problem. I use it to pull roms from my NAS all the time and it runs great, and for a docked emulation setup, it's like a one-stop shop program.
Emudeck installs emulationstation and sets it up for you. People dumping on emudeck is baffling to me considering all it really does is just download emulators and set them up for you. It's not a frontend like emulationstation or anything like that.
>download emulators and set them up for you
And change the configuration defaults for each one of them to seemingly random shit that doesn't guarantee compatibility in any way, like the moronic underage skid that cobbled the script together knows better than the people who wrote the fricking emulators, and then people come into these threads asking why their emulated games don't work properly. EmuDeck is a piece of shit and anyone that isn't a button-slapping caveman should take the ten minutes it takes to get all your emulators installed and set up inside Steam.
I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. Saved me a ton of time with no downsides so far, so I'll keep recommending it.
Use emudeck, its specifically for deck
I want retroarch
That's what you're getting. Emudeck installs and sets up retroarch for you.
Emudeck isn't retroarch. it uses the standalone emulators.
It uses RetroArch for some of them, namely most 2D consoles.
Is it any good? Does it feel nice?
I'm wondering if there's any point to owning one because of the price point and the fact I already have a Switch and a gaymin pc
Do people get off on being moronic/lying on the internet?
It sure happens a lot.
>streaming
cringe
Honestly, as much as I want one. I know I'll have no real use for it. Because, I don't travel out of town enough to actually see a mile in investment. And, if I wanna play in bed I can just use my laptop. The deck isn't bad but I guess I'm trying to find more utility out of it.
These threads are populated by people who followed a very particular path.
>preordered one as soon as they possibly could, despite knowing nothing about it because they are valve fanboys
>hyped it and shilled it here for months on end to justify this
>got one and used it for a while, set everything up
>a week or two later, it sits next to their PC because they don't go anywhere to necessitate it
>it gathers dust while they post about how great it is to use on the toilet or in bed or random places that people don't normally bother gaming for long, if at all
>deck is covered in a thick layer of dust and several cobwebs while they continue to post about how it's the new industry standard
You should only bother getting a deck if you have a long commute, or need to travel a lot or perhaps have a small living space that you spend time in like student digs, where you can't use a "real" computer easily. A lot of people on this board are downright stupid
>These threads are populated by people who followed a very particular path
Yes they certainly do with cope posts like yours. It sure is strange how the switch could be so successful due to being a handheld yet when someone else comes out with an even better handheld, somehow portability is totally overrated for reals and anyone who cares about that is just a fanboy.
The switch is successful because it's a child's toy that plays plinky plonky games and pokemon and shit. It's for children and people who might as well be children.
The Steam Deck is a niche product for a relatively few people, and everyone here knows this.
That and the fetish to make everything computerized into a flat slab that fits in your pocket or purse.
>it has buttons
If your other flat slab had buttons you wouldn’t buy this
>The switch is successful because it's a child's toy
People keep saying this as if its not 20+ year olds buying it while all the children are fricking around with phones.
>and people who might as well be children
to be honest, I live in a fairly metropolitan area, and have seen ONE adult using the switch in public in its entire lifespan, and that was early on. Never have I seen one since then out in the wild. I have seen more rg351 devices being used in public than switches
>rg351 devices
holy based
people are getting redpilled on native resolutions
Not that anon, but just interjecting here. The Steam Deck is nice but some people actually want to get the most utility out of it in their day to day lives when it's not just mindlessly shitting on the floor and screeching at each other. And, truthfully I kind of agree with em it's a nice novelty but in the long term I wouldn't find an actual use for it as I have my laptop and desktop.
It will never replace a desktop and wasn't meant to, but for games it's far better than a laptop. There's no reason why closed systems like the switch should exist anymore.
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. I'll probably wait post-bachelors degree.
I honestly think that you will be able to get one second hand pretty cheap in about 6 months' time, anyway. Things like this are on the wrong side of disposable, so they never hold value.
Yes but can it play in public without inducing cringe?
If anyone laughs it clearly looks like you could beat them to death with it, unlike the switch which would snap in half, so it is less cringe.
hey, don't knock the switch. I was having an argument with my GF (male) and hit her over the head with it. Really made my point, even though hundreds of hours of zelda were lost...
>scratch my Steam Deck
>decide to scratch it more to unify the look
help I'm moronic
at least you didn't ejaculate all over it.
valve doesn't write anything about semen voiding the warranty tho
good vidya era. One thing I was surprised about was how well old flat games can be mapped to this weird controller, still can't believe Deus Ex layout makes it pretty much playable.
>want to play fighting games on Deck
>SFV not supported
>Soul Calibur supported
>download SC, it doesn't boot
>download SFV, it runs perfect
So, should I take the Steam verifications with a grain of salt?
Steam verification is a terrible indicator of what runs. Check games with protondb.
Both games are gold on protondb, so I'd expect both of them to work(?). In general, wine/proton can do much more than just run whatever steam tells it to run. It's a bit of linux stuff, but you can google about winetricks/protontricks, it's a bunch of scripts that install various windows libraries. Can help with many issues, I've had my deck only for one day so far, and I already had to fix audio in one game with winetricks, kek
this device is deliciously responsive by the way, i'm not much into fighting games, but rhythm games like project diva run like an absolute dream, zero delay
I havent touched my deck for while. Xenoblade 3 is too strong and I got culy of lamb on ps5 instead, because that OLED C1
I want to give senchou twins, and im not even a vtuber gay
>those black levels
yikes
Yeah, with Deck's poor hardware morrowind is the only thing left to play
Now the switch on the other hand... that's the thinking troons device, right sisters? The two generation behind visuals really elevate the visual appeal and don't get me started on the paid online and complete lack of features and functionality. It's pure perfection.
>Now the switch
Who?
Is he your classmates that bullies you or somethin?
The classmate with his dick in your ass controlling you like a puppet. Scream for daddy nintendo.
Wow, you are mindborken one
Focus anon or miyamoto will go limp and delay your zelda asset flip again.
Nothing on a 7 inch barely hd resolution screen is comfy. It’s called cope and buyers remorse
I always drop Morrowind once I reach Vivec city.
What were they thinking?
console Black folk ruin everything
Why do these shills always try to compare the deck to the switch? It doesn't make you look strong if you beat up a six year old with down's syndrome. It just makes people think you're too weak to handle yourself
Because those are the cripples coming in here looking for a fight. If they're willfully moronic and obnoxious, they deserve to get shit on, six year old with down syndrome or otherwise.
>Because those are the cripples coming in here looking for a fight
they're not, though. Switch owners are sitting in their own hundred threads whacking off over that pic of zelda falling over. All these responses just bring up the switch out of nowhere
Sony is dead to everyone on this board at this point and a laughing stock, microsoft doesn't exist outside of os threads, and chinese shills drop their bootlegs instantly. The vast majority of the shitposting against the deck is from switch owners and it's obvious why.
>The vast majority of the shitposting against the deck is from deck owners and it's obvious why.
FTFYFOC
Do you have a single fact to back that up? Why get upset and go to bat for the switch if it's your deck that's bothering you?
>Why get upset and go to bat for the switch
I've given no indication of being "upset", and I think telling you that all switch owners are brain-dead manchild coomermorons is the opposite of going to bat for them. The deck is shitposted here by people who own the deck because without the shitposting, these threads die quick. I guarantee you that this thread will limp on until someone starts crying about chinks again and it will race to the bump limit
>Do you have a single fact to back that up?
like every previous thread except maybe 3 or 4 of them in an entire year have followed this pattern.
Tacking on FOC in all caps makes it sound upset.
I can get your reasoning. Bait does keep threads alive. But it's not all bait. Fanboys are an unfortunate reality and there are plenty of them on this board. Some will give them the benefit of the doubt that they're pretending to be moronic, others will think they are moronic, and others still won't care and will shit on them regardless. Bait or not doesn't really matter at the end of the day since you still have to pick and choose what you think is genuine. Even the most blatant sounding bait could be genuine and vice versa. Just have fun with it.
>Tacking on FOC in all caps makes it sound upset.
sure it does, anon.
And yeah, I agree. I don't think that any actual switch owners even come into these threads though. It's all just funposting. Can't say the same for the owners of chink devices though, because I am one. And the AYN Loki Max is going to eat the deck's lunch when it comes out, 100%.
I'll probably still keep this little Black person though, just to keep it docked as a second PC.
>And the AYN Loki Max is going to eat the deck's lunch when it comes out, 100%.
If it's a good device, great. Considering valve wanted the deck to spur competition in this space, that's a good thing. The problem is people thinking it eats the deck's lunch rather than the switch's, who it should be burying as a closed locked down system that can no longer compete by any metric and can only survive by taking advantage of normalgays and brand loyalists.
It's because in a conversation about the deck and the ayn loki, the switch has no space at all. You can say "oh yeah the loki is more powerful, but the deck has trackpads" or "the deck has better controls, but the loki will be smaller" but how can you defend the switch against either of them?
It's just a handheld console with overpriced cartridges. Who cares?
I got mine for 650. And that's the max, which is going to be objectively more powerful than the deck. Who knows about the battery though, that'll be fun to watch.
>And the AYN Loki Max is going to eat the deck's lunch when it comes out, 100%.
I'm sure it'll make for some tough competition when they start shipping units in 2024
>$100 more than the most expensive deck
>680m, still less powerful than a 1050
I wouldn't hold your breath.
Because Deck just failed in hardware department, the only thing they can compare it to is the Switch from 2017.
Because there are people like
who keep spamming how USELESS the Deck is, who can't possibly think who this device may be for. Despite being a better version of a console that sold over 100 million units.
So other Anons compare the Deck to the Switch in response, and then the entire thread degenerates into console warring.
>keep spamming how USELESS the Deck is, who can't possibly think who this device may be for
>posted once
>details exactly who it is for
0/10. try next time
I didn't mean HE specifically kept spamming this. But there's always someone like him in every single thread.
"You are never going to use this outside, people would laugh at you"
"You are never going to use this inside, you have a PC already"
"Just get a laptop / desktop / other device"
I'd get it if the Switch flopped, it would've proved there's no market for handheld consoles anymore. But it's one of the most successful consoles of all time, and the Deck is the same exact thing but better in every single way except availability.
>details exactly who it is for
And he's completely wrong, most people use handheld consoles at home.
Yeah, better get a laptop, basically better in every way and is not outdated on launch like this thing.
But those are all fair points, and he isn't wrong. This device is great for people with a big commute, or students who have to live in small spaces at term time and can't lug a desktop around.
it's not actually that useful for playing on a settee like six feet from your main PC, or saying it's great to play on the shitter. This is obvious cope.
Arguing against the deck is arguing against the same appeal in a device that has sold over 100 million units with a long history of similar portable hardware selling well. You can try and say portability and handhelds aren't all that or are only useful for very specific scenarios, but you're deluding yourself. There's obvious appeal there for people who don't just want to sit at a desk to play games.
>Arguing against the deck is arguing against the same appeal in a device that has sold over 100 million units with a long history of similar portable hardware selling well
Nah, the deck and the switch aren't smiliar. The switch has the mainstream appeal of pressing one button and seeing mario shapes appear on the screen. The deck is a Linux PC that sometimes requires some work on the console to run things or tweaking steam inputs to get them right. Might as well compare a gaming laptop to a flintstone phone
That's without even getting into the swing n' a miss portability of the steam deck
>The switch has the mainstream appeal of pressing one button and seeing mario shapes appear on the screen
So does the deck if nobody wants to leave steam.
>without even getting into the swing n' a miss portability of the steam deck
No more or less portable than the switch. They're both too big to fit in pockets. If it was gameboy sized you'd have a point.
>So does the deck if nobody wants to leave steam.
Until I got one, I would have thought that, but the amount of games that need GE, the dogshit navigation on the steam store from the UI..these things remind me that they're not for normie normal.
>No more or less portable than the switch. They're both too big to fit in pockets
maybe, but you can also take off the joycons and it fits. Then again, I haven't ever seen anyone carrying a switch around anyway, so you have a point.
>but the amount of games that need GE
proton GE is like a 2 minute install and you can get it right off the discover store with protonup
Which is fine for you or me, but if we're talking about normies who don't even know how to use desktop mode, it's impossible.
>we're talking about normies who don't even know how to use desktop mode
dude it's a basic desktop interface. If they've used a PC they know how to navigate it enough to access the discovery store.
>the amount of games that need GE
So?
The Steam store still has almost 2000 deck verified games and a further 2512+ playable games so that's a native library of like 4,500 games.
Compare that to the PS4 which only has a library of 3265 games.
Nomies still can't do that shit, and would literally b***h and return a device if they can't play the assassin's creed game they have on the uplay launcher on it. because they were told it was a PC, and that's a PC game
>Nomies still can't do that shit
prove it
You are mixing two completely different arguments.
>The Deck will not sell 100 million units because it's too hard for the average consumer
I agree, but only to a certain extent. That's an issue with PC gaming in general... which nowadays is bigger than it's ever been. So maybe the average consumer isn't as dumb as you believe?
But this wasn't his argument. What he said was:
>The Deck is useless for 95% of customers, it only makes sense if you spend two hours in a train every single day. Most people will buy it, play with it for two weeks, never touch it ever again.
This is complete bullshit. In this regard, the Deck serves the same exact function as the Switch: a handheld device that plays videogames. He is basically arguing against the concept of portable consoles, which is so dumb.
I don't care whether the deck sells 100 million units or not, though. Sales aren't a concern of mine. Just whether the deck and the switch are apt for comparison, which I don't think they are.
I don't remember ever saying 95% of people don't need a deck. Just that decent reasons were given regarding who would find it useful, and they were good reasons. Conversely, I think a lot of people who don't have a good reason to buy it and just bought it on a whim or to support the hardware, will let theirs sit in drawers
I think the Deck is more useful for most cross plats, and especially indies that are begging to be handheld. I'd rather play Stardew handheld than desktop. That's already a selling point for Switch too. But Steam has a better infrastructure. Far less chance of Valve doing something moronic like Nintendo cutting you off your own game library when they move to a new console gen. Otherwise, keep a Switch around for 1st party. Or if you're a Black person, pirate those.
You can only buy a Deck if you already own an active Steam account, so "it's too hard for the average consumer" is not an valid argument. No average consumer can even buy this thing; I'd go as far as to say only videogame and hardware enthusiasts know the Deck even EXISTS.
So, if we remove potential usability issues from the equation... the Deck is just another portable console. It has the same disadvantages as any other portable console ever made: small screen (compared to monitors and TVs), underpowered (compared to current home consoles and PCs), it runs on battery. Your "it only makes sense if you travel a lot" argument applies to ALL handhelds in history.
But unlike its peers, the Deck has all the advantages of PC gaming: unlimited customization, a huge (and expanding) library of games, mods, emulation. If you already are a PC gamer, it's even batter: you don't have to buy the same game twice, cloud saves, shared community features.
Why would I play on my GBA when I have a PS2 at home? Why play on PSP when I own a PS3? What about 3DS and PS4? Not to mention Switch + PC, considered the "god combo" for the last five years. Was everyone wrong all this time?
So, what I don't understand is this: why were you fine with the idea of portables before, but only when this product came out you finally realized how "useless" handhelds are?
Show dialogue menu. It it even readable?
does having one of those silicone covers affect temps?
I love my deck

It is the Game Gear/Atari Lynx experience all over again. Bravo zoomer consooomers, thanks for the beta testing.
glad you're enjoying your Deck. But WRPGs are still trash.
What's kind of cool about these threads is I thought they'd be far more tech support with people struggling to use the deck and linux and I was very surprised when that wasn't the case. It is shockingly easy to use despite how much I've heard people shit on linux for being a huge pain in the ass.
The downside is these threads just become consoewars because saying everything just works you're playing a random game without any issue isn't very exciting and doesn't do much to keep the thread active.
>1080p
>46Wh battery
>6800U rated at 15W minimum
>Supposedly smaller than the Steam Deck
This thing is too good to be true, isn't it?
Guess we will find out. Ayn is good at watching other devices and taking notes, so I hope they're seeing the shitty battery life on the aya devices and giving it some thought. I wouldn't be too surprised to see steamOS on this bad boy.
>China
Almost certainly.
46w/h for an APU that shines at 18W is not great
>1080p on a device that small
why
It'll probably be fine for most things. Could always put it to 800p, I guess.
Seems like a waste of power.
Depends whether you can whack down the TDP for more battery, and only raise it when you need it. I've had my deck for a few months now, and I have never needed to raise it over 10 TDP
pretty sure you can change the TDP on the fly
On the loki, I mean. The AYA device that just got reviewed by everyone seems to have 3 presets, which is kind of shit, to be honest.
Because Switch, which is smaller, looks like shit at 720?
Very few games run at 720p on Switch.
>bigger number better
Why are there so few tech savvy people on a tech board? You would expect this from the average countryside churchgoer but how in the hell are people on Ganker in 2022 so ignorant?
720p looks like shit
Why willingly forgo the incredible pixel density you'll get with 1080p especially since the device can run games AT 1080p.
>720p looks like shit
Yeah no, 720p on a small screen is already too small to read text or manage inventories and menus in a lot of PC games, with 1080p you can say goodbye to playing the majority of older PC RPGs
>chinese bootleg
it will be forgotten in a matter of weeks, like every other "Switch-killer"
>No trackpads
Its fine if you only want to emulate. It's terrible if you want to play PC games.
The nice thing about my Steam Deck is going from Gamecube to WiiU to Linux freeware to old obscure PC games to big AAA releases all one device.
Is it easy to get GoG Galaxy and games on there? I have a shitload of older games through that service
GoG Galaxy doesn't support Linux but you can use Heroic Games Launcher instead
Okay, thanks frens
Lutris is a bit funny, and you need to be specific for a few mins while following it.
https://www.theverge.com/23132688/steam-deck-epic-games-store-gog-origin-how-to
this is useful for following the method to install lutris properly because you need to install other stuff in the background too.
Easy when you know how to do it, though
Use lutris. It has a lot of other launchers on it too
Half these Chinaman handhelds are never coming out, or releasing in such small quantities you'll never get one. They always announce one and start taking preorders then announce another variant a week later. And none of them have trackpads, which is pretty much a necessity for playing certain PC games handheld. I guess they'll all do fairly well if you're just using them for emulation, though.
I haven't touched any of my other systems since I got mine. Just finished Ys II and vampire Survivors, and I'm on Tunic now
same
but in 1440p and 144fps
how often do you really play vidya on the go lets be honest
i have an og 3ds and a switch lite and even the lite is too big to always bring around for me
i play maybe a few hours on trains/busses a year otherwise i mainly play them at home or at places im staying which really if you are lugging around a steam deck you might as well carry a decent laptop or honestly even a xbox series s or whatever
I've always preferred handhelds for single player games. It's also nice to be able to sit in different areas of the house, like outside on the back deck or in a hot bath
Many people have city jobs, but living in the city is for rich people and idiots, so they get the train in.
I understand this is a foreign concept in America, but it's true for a lot of the world.
Why do all these threads want me to buy a laptop so fricking badly
because the steam deck (and all other pc gaming handhelds) are at best heavy, shitty, overpriced laptops with mid screens and terrible battery life
For me the steam deck isn't just about gaming. I have about 300gb of ebooks (the entire survival library and other stuff like medicine, woodworking, carpentry, pharmacology, water works, banking, survival, infographics, you name it) saved on an external drive that doesn't require power other than from the computer it's plugged into. I also have a powerful solar power bank that will charge my steam deck (and a usb c hub to plug in the external drive) So if the grid ever goes down, like down down, when i eventually run out of gas to power my generator i'll have pretty much all the information a group of people would need to rebuild society, even if its just a small local group of people in my town. Other people in the area will surely have sources of power too so i'd of course share everything i have with them as well.
I like that you're all happy with your Decks. Keep having fun!
>"OMG I'M PLAYING PC GAMES AT LOWER GRAPHICS ON A SCREEN THE SIZE OF AN IPHONE BUT I GET TO SIT ON THE COUCH!!!!! IT'S SO COMFY!!!!! WOWWOWWOW THIS IS THE FUTURE GABE NEWELL HAS DONE IT AGAIN!"
>BUT I GET TO SIT ON THE COUCH
No. I get to lay in bed and play some before going to sleep and play some during my commute to work.
picrel not fat enough
but really, the best reason for sticking with steam (pc or deck) is library and savefile longevity. i have all the consoles, but deck still on the WL. the main thing i hate (at least with Japan so far) is the rug could be ripped out from you at any moment with other consoles and they revamp their whole storefront and game library (perhaps not with the Switch successor this time, since it's ARM).
>late nights
>cold nights
>tired but want to keep playing
>don't have to choose between staying up at a fricking work desk and a comfy bed
>get to sit up with a duvet over you and pillow under your head playing factorio or stardew or whatever on the server with your friends
>built-in mic so you can still shoot the shit with them, way better than using a keyboard
>could probably steam link to a bigger screen if you want to play that way instead and even save some battery
>compatible with emerging AR glasses like nreal air if an actual bigger screen is impractical
>bed, couch, toilet, out in the garden, bus, train, whatever
Unreasonably fraudulent.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
I wanted one so fricking bad I had to hit up eBay for it.
Way too marked up, man. But to each their own.
It's funny how even the 64gb is priced higher than the 512gb reserve.
i bought a 3ds, vita, a wii u, a switch
all under 6 feet of dust
i am a fricking adult i don't have anywhere to go why the frick would i need this
How do I get the keyboard pop up to appear in desktop mode or do I have to plug in a real keyboard?
on a unrelated note why phone photos format default is so fricking huge
the quality/size is abysmal anyway
Its worse when you find out phones will automatically resize most images you save from the internet to have the largest side be 1024 pixels. So they take frick huge resolution pictures with shoddy sensors for the job and frick you over when you want to save something high quality.
Morrowind is boring
Your tastes have been glossed over by modern video game design. Morrowind is kino.
Enjoy your myopia. Playing on a big tv is 1000x better
Cope
>turn on deck
>run emulator
>its fricked, mess with settings for 20 minutes to get it to run
>finally works
>take picture of title screen
>get bored in 20 minutes and turn it off
Why are deck sisters like this?
but in all honesty, I put in about 50 hours, played CF and SS, and the game ran about 95% accurately. Some odd pixels in dark lighting, some shader stutters on rainy maps, but that's about it.
>Pokemon romhacks from the GBC, GBA, DS, and Gamecube lined up next to each other on one console
>Multiversus, Duck Game, and Smash Romhacks like 64 Remix and Project M Remix all on one console
>Daggerfall Unity, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim all on one handheld
>Dock for local multiplayer, friends all got one, so we can do system to system multiplayer too
This is the comfiest that gaming has literally ever been.
I know who you are.
>Deck can alllllmost do Switch games, might actually be able to run some accurately eventually as the emulators refine
>Xbox 360 emulation is now in it's infancy, totally possible if PS3 emulation is on Deck
>PS3 emulator gets better all the time, already very playable on Deck
>Someone is working on a compatibility layer for Linux that would allow you to run PS4 games like an EXE, no hardware emulation required
We live in a world where eventually the only thing the Steam Deck wont be able to run is the 3-4 PS5 games not out on anything else.
We won, PC bros.
My wrists hurt looking at that thing
What are the best silicone/rubber covers for this? I'm leaving sweat marks all over it, I absolutely need a cover as soon as possible.
I don't mind paying more for a quality product but I would like one that still fits inside the carrying case.
You are supposed to leave your gamer traces on it, it's the way we videogamers mark our devices.
Very useful. Upboated my good sir.
Still not available straya.
Fricking hell.

How do I get rid of the letterboxing in Elden Ring?
It's okay/10
Just got my steamdeck, how are you guys emulating on it?
You inject roms by putting your dick on the deck
>no deck in the op
