Yeah I hate Scandinavians too. Just look at HD2 for a live example.
I looked at steamcharts and wow no one gives a frick anymore but I don't blame them. I had extremely frustrating crashes when I was playing multiplayer last year.
Still, I feel alone in being the only shill.

      >Are the frosty lands also finished?
Nope. This is only the Ashlands update. Expect a few more years for an actual release, when the playercount is under 3k as opposed to 30k.

      Swamp is too shit

I don't think I'll be able to get the boys to get back into it. It was fun while it lasted, we had a huge base

Biomes from the swamp onward being raw cancer made me lose interest real fast.
It's not fun constantly dealing with infinitely spawning mobs. Like fricking christ how many flying wyvern homosexuals do I need to kill in one silver run?
The game itself has sprinklings of fun between extremely repetitive and mundane tasks. Mods helped a bit, but development has been so painfully slow I have lost all interest.
The meadows and base building was nice at least.

      >Valheim updates
      >friend wants to play it
      >have to remind him that it's eternally in early access hell and everything from the swamp onward sucks hot ass so we wouldn't even be having fun getting to the new content
      >repeat every year or two
      I'm tired, boss

Not going to even try to convince the boys this time, you have to nolife to progress and not everyone is on the same page on just chilling or rushing forward with progress.

I applied to work for these guys with the plan to make iterations of every enemy type they have in the game without too much of a headache on their end and hopefully get them to fix the bosses and sloped combat.

they told me they were not hiring. so frick it continue working on my project when I can.

they really lost their momentum. wtf did they even do with the money.

Dude frick if I know. I think I knew it was over when they released some video at the end of last year where the """community manager""" and two developers recorded an ingame video and RP walked while CM kept asking the devs questions about the upcoming update. Except it's clear that the devs didn't really give a shit and they were giving some fluff answers all the while this CM is droning on about shit nobody cares about. Here you go:

They are bloating already and they don't even have a completed game lmao. I'm no game dev, but any business bloating their features this early is not a good place to be a technical wizard. Frick them and good luck with your own project, anon; they don't deserve your work clearly.

I think Plains is fine, the infinitely spawning gobbos aren't frustrating to fight and they drop gold that is still useful.

But Mistlands is fricked. It's conceptually bad

It's where me and my friends stopped playing.
We cleared enough dungeons to gather enough shit to craft the key.
We were gathering shit so we can craft gear for all of us to face the queen but we just lost interest.

What an absolute pain in the ass the mistlands are.
It's not that it's hard, it's a bunch of issues with the game itself and with mistlands in particular that just create a frustrating to play scenario.

They added difficulty settings a while back, you can just change the portal settings to allow ore.

There is no solution to the gameplay loop getting repetitive though. After the first two biomes you've basically seen all the game has to offer. The biomes and enemies change a bit, but it's basically the same shit with a different coat of paint.

I love how they added modifiers to give people "freedom" with these horrible mechanics and changing death penalty to the lowest setting still removes some skill on death, discouraging experimentation.

      >enemies in general do not give a frick about wet status, since they have no stamina to manage.

We basically terraformed each swamp with a hoe with paths just above the water level. Also for the poison enemies just use the harpoon and pull them to land.

        Anonymous

The trick is to bring meads and methodically clear areas with small pulls.
If you actually clear out the area it stays relatively save for a good while, but if you try to just avoid killing enemies on your way to get iron you'll likely end up getting attacked by an enemy you didn't see and getting swarmed when you make a bunch of noise running or fighting.

The water is all shallow so you can mostly just raise it with a hoe to make safe paths. When you get ready to do the boss, bring in a bunch of stone and fill in all low spots in the area so you can run around without being slowed.
Stagbreaker is also effective against leeches if you really have trouble with them.

The real pain in the ass is mistlands, you can't see shit, can't maneuver for shit, can't hit enemies for shit on the steeply sloped terrain, and half of the enemies fly. Plus they are resistant to basically all physical damage.
It's not actually all that challenging, it's just tedious and unfun. The whole game feels like it's designed to be as tedious as possible in order to pad out the play time.

        >one of the poison enemies swim in that water and most of your weapons cannot attack low enough to hit.
the greataxe isn't good for much, but it can hit leeches fairly consistently

The swamp is a problem but not for many of the reasons cited here. Most anons appear to have skill issues. Learning to parry and knowing when to run is an invaluable skill and the swamp is the first time where it really matters.
The real issue is resource gathering. The crypt system is dogshit. Other than gold and boss summoning items the crypts only contain garbage drops. Worst of all, you can be really unlucky and have poor crypt spawns. You are discouraged from wasting iron on iron armor and weapons if you've played through it before, because first time players are going to hit the plains and wish they didn't spend all that iron back then.

        >because first time players are going to hit the plains and wish they didn't spend all that iron back then.

Oh, I see you lack basic comprehension. Let me clarify.
You see, I know how to play the game, and what the game expects of me. What I'm saying is that those things are not fun, they are a chore list that act as a time limited barrier to entry to any actual fun parts.

Now, seeing as you got up on your little soapbox and tried to patronize everyone by stating basic fricking toddler shit as some mighty revelation, let me go ahead and get ahead of the part where you say that all of that shit like brewing mead for an hour, leveling out terrain, and generally just bullshitting around is actually fun and say that it is not, and that you are a contrarian, condescending, preachy homosexual that loves to sodomize men.

That's been my issue with Valheim since I stopped playing. It's so fricking boring, slow and tedious. I don't mind having to ferry it all back via boat or cart, but the actual mining of stuff just takes forever. Finding copper and spending the next 20 minutes slowly whacking at it while the forest Black folk bite your ass, or slowly munching your way through the mud in the crypts to get iron scraps. Shit takes forever.
