Hopefully this thread will kill some shitty snoy or tendie thread. Now back to the topic
Why does noone talk about this game?
>Open beta
>Already mogs minecraft

>All of that just made by a few swedes
Have you built some comfy castles, anons?

>mogs terraria
In what way?
By being a real 3d game for starters
OK, so you're retarded, gotcha, no need to reply
You're a fucking imbecile.
go back to working on the game, hans
>Already mogs minecraft
barely
>Mogs terraria
not even close
>Mogs Dark Souls games
not even similar genres but ok
>Mogs BOTW
i guess but that's not a high bar
>zoomer fears the 2nd dimension
no wonder you have such horrid taste
fears the 2nd dimension
>no wonder you have such horrid taste
t. boomer stuck in 80s
It's fun, for one thing.
I love Valheim but it runs like shit and still isn’t a complete game yet for some reason.
I last played this on February 28th of last year, I thought it was pretty neat while playing it but for some reason I never went back to it. I've played a total of 87 minutes of it...
Make me want to play it again. Why should I?
>Make me want to play it again. Why should I?
It's fun to swim around the world and build cool castles with your frens
Early access, my bad
Ahhh, I have no friends anymore. Especially not ones who spend any time on Steam that I'm aware of.
Makes sense why I don't care.
Well then it's over. This game sucks ass for solo play.
I agree, they could have upscaled their team and add some multiplayer mode for random people to meet each other
Open Beta?
>Why does noone talk about this game?
they did plenty last year
they stopped because it was a flavor of the month
>Why does noone talk about this game?
its in development hell. one (1) biome finished since it started ea.
Played for 60 hours, haven't really touched it since release. Devs are way too slow at releasing updates. They killed their own game.
This, one could argue they didn't expect it to get as huge as it did so quickly but they pretty much stopped the hype themselves by moving so slowly to get any form of updates out. In a game like this there should be no shortage of ideas for content and the key thing is to get that content made and put into the game so that people stay interested and you can continue to build up your playerbase.
It's a shame too because it really had the potential to put itself up there with the likes of MC and Terraria sales wise.
Yeah, I play the shit out of it for a week or two when they add new biomes then its back to waiting for 6+ months.
How is this game single player, I see they're adding it to gamepass
its fine except iron mining is nauseatingly boring. just green mini dungeons where you swing a pickaxe at literal piles of shit to get ore to cart back to your boat. sailing it back home is the easy part.
It isn't single player friendly unless you really want to spend shitton of time on mundane tasks like raising pigs and planting carrots
The game is unironically too big for solo play
shit if you want to go past the bronze age
Get Valheim Plus and set all drop rates to 3x their normal value if you plan on going solo,
>Resource grind takes forever and gets really tiresome
>world generation is pretty limited, so not much to see past the first playthrough
>not much to do once you hit endgame
>updates take forever to release
Didn't play it in a long time but from what I remember it has the same problems as every other early access survival game
Seems like you haven't played since Mistland came out. It was a pretty big content update.
which took them only 18 months, wow
This. I loved my time with the game but with how long it took to get one major update and one cosmetics update I'm just going to wait for 1.0
2 years and 1 update. Fuck devs (the cooking mama update doesn't count)
I’m not sure if Valheim is great because of the strong Viking theme or held back a bit by it. I mean, most lands has already departed from the Norse myths since I am 99% sure Norse myth makes no mention of giant fucking bugs, and I don’t know if Nordic cultures ever made use of any sort of marble stonework besides what Rome had already set up. Not to mention the additions of the crossbow and great sword (though I love both). Also, some of the tech progression can feel a little wonky. Sailing can be very tedious and I have no idea how I’d make it through the damn game past Bronze stuff if it were’t For the mods I made use of.
Still, overall a great game.
Oh, also sad i can’t wear my wolf cape and still remain optimal because that thing is fucking amazing fashion wise.
>Sailing can be very tedious and I have no idea how I’d make it through the damn game past Bronze
Build a new base on a triple point between meadows, black forest and swamp. Or have swamp in close vicinity, like over river. Check first if the swamp has dungeons.
Then you move your ship there (Karve or higher), mine iron in dungeons and then bring in back on ship to your base.
Usually there is a lot of iron to play around from one single biome with dungeons.
You can also farm abominations with axe and buckler.
Yeah, sorry, my file's already modded.
How tall a tower? I was able to make one without any building height mods that was five stories with about 3 meters per-floor height.
>No real content
I am just a bit curious on what people mean by this? Like, compared to say minecraft or Terraria? I myself do think there could maybe be more events and enemy variety (Especially per-biome). Heck, I got a fucking laundry list of ideas if people want me to greentext all fucking night.
>I am just a bit curious on what people mean by this? Like, compared to say minecraft or Terraria? I myself do think there could maybe be more events and enemy variety (Especially per-biome). Heck, I got a fucking laundry list of ideas if people want me to greentext all fucking night.
The game isn't finished anon. It's in early access and they burned their old roadmap and if you ask about updates on the steam forums your topic gets locked.
but what would count as "real" content?
i dont fucking know I never said that, I said its lacking content, the game would be a shit ton shorter if they removed all the filler grinding for ores bullshit
>mogs Minecraft, terrarria, Dark Souls
You fucking wish you mong. BotW fucking sucks but it doesn't even mog that.
Don't get me wrong, Valheim is a perfectly fine game, one that I even kinda liked as someone who's not usually into early access survival crafting bullshit, but why do you feel the need to claim that it shits on games that it quite clearly does not shit on?
>mogs X
let's wait until it's finished first
no one he will make it that long
>until it's finished
it never will be.
Its too repetitive to mog anything for me
i don't have friends to play with and playing solo gets quite tedious. Can i just boost gather rates or something to make it more solo friendly?
No one talks because it's unfinished. Game is FANTASTIC mind you, I loved what I did in it. Hell I recently tried to play it modded. But that was a bit of a nightmare, a lot of broken mods and tools, and it kind of made it a worse experience.
I still have my save for when the game is completed. Not even touching Mistlands until it's DONE done. My island base awaits the day when it may once again see use as we sail forth on yet another adventure.
The issue is it's not done. And hopefully when it is done it'll get the same flash it got when it first launched. It certainly deserves that much. But with how slow the devs have been with the game who knows when it'll actually be complete. Maybe they should add a bunch of elements of depression and say they're inspired by Earthbound so a bunch of autistic talented chuds come in and add some MANpower to their team.
>when it is done
if
big if
>Why does noone talk about this game?
Not interested in what your e-celebs talk about or not. Sage.
Because theres nothing to fucking do.
If the devs would stop being retarded and support better multiplayer features then the game would be amazing.
As it is now if you have more than 5 people on a server it becomes unstable as fuck.
Wasted potential.
later parts of the game isn't fun imo
All the FotM e-celeb worshipping spergs already moved on to greener pastures. Vampire survivors, then dark&darker which barely lasted 4 weeks before all the cattle moved on to sons of the forest for 2 weeks and are now in search for new youtuber bait to parasocialize in. What was it that was popular around shitheim's time? Oh ye, chivalry 2 which was following the immediate FotM trend from mordhau.
lmao you guys are such sad sacks of shit
dark and darker is currently unplayable you absolute spastic
>is old fucking news
>they had a reasonable road map but then after "muh unexpected success" they decided to do nothing at all
>two years pass and they have added exactly "a different color roof and a shitty half passed zone"
Wow what a crazy wonderful game. Another autism simulator, but this time the graphics are WORSE!
>runs like shit
>is annoying to play and the content sucks
only good part is the starting area is comfy and the game has nice building, THAT'S IT
>>runs like shit
Maybe you should upgrade your pentium 2 PC, granpa
my PC is from this year, it still runs like shit when you start building a base and if you intentionally make a shit base to make it run nice then what's the point of the game
It literally bogs down and shits its pants when you try to build anything complex and big. Its a well known and acknowledged problem. gay ass simp.
have to agree. I think the game is great for building/farming comfy gameplay but it really drops off a fucking cliff past the black forest. Meadows/BF you're encouraged to explore to find more resources and the landscape is usually varied enough to make you want to see what's a little further on. Finding abandoned villages or Draugr villages in the Meadows is super cozy, especially building them up to be livable.
But you get to the swamps which is literally just look for the next dungeon to mine slime for iron until you have enough iron to upgrade your gear. Then you move onto the mountains where you just run around until your gamer sense tingles to find silver to do the same, except this time you are constantly harrassed by mobs without a break. Any potential snowy comfiness is negated by constant drake bombardment.
Then the plains which is just team deathmatch. haven't tried the Mistlands as other anons have said, I'd rather just wait another 2 years for another biome so the game is slightly more complete
>implying it'll ever be finished
this game is the litmus test for whether or not you're too autistic to have fun. Gankerirgins will optimize the fun out of the game and then bitch that there's nothing to do after soloing all the bosses naked
It's fun but it doesn't do anything revolutionary. I played for 140 hours and moved on to other things.
Because it's worth exactly one play-through to see stuff and thats it. It was overhyped and it flamed out within 2 months. Only fun I managed to have in it was when i douped my items to make my gear because fuck hauling shit down a mountain across an ocean
great thread OP, looks like you've successfully proven you're as shit at making threads as the ones you want to kill. Go enjoy your tech demo turned vaporware.
I haven't played it at all.
this game is very pretty but it has some problems that block me from going beyond iron age
>No build schematics
>No streamlining of resource gathering like having workers to gather wood or tending to camps
>no reputation system, killing a demigod should make his smaller grunts be afraid of me or at least have some kind of less agressive behaviour towards the character
>not being able to teleport minerals would be ok if i had the chance to move workbenches and other stuff around
some of those problems are exploited in various manners or fixed by mods, but i just feel like these quality of life stuff should be priorities.
>quality of life stuff should be priorities
these devs cannot into QoL. it took them almost a year to add in the ability for the game to remember an IP address for a server you had been playing on. mods had it fixed the whole time but it took the devs months. the devs were constantly being humiliated by mods that kept improving small aspects of the game and just seemed to refuse to take on any of the fixes officially, and they still haven't added any kind of workshop support despite the fact if their dev time is THIS slow then an easily moddable game is crucial to the lifespan of a game like this. see project zomboid, shitty devs who take their sweet fucking time but mods keep the game going because it's easy as fuck to mod and flexible enough that it keeps the game interesting but the devs here seem to just not give a shit at all and their game is dying as a result
I don't like it because I keep dying to shamans and little skeletons
i just build in creative then wait for idiot mobs to try to kill me
they cant
they are too stupid and weak
boring game tbh tbh
dumb as fuck that they didn't add basic magic throughout the game leading up to mistlands
Haven't played in well over a year. Kind of been feeling like playing it again.
Did they ever increase the hight limit on buildings? That was what bothered me the most, I really just want to build some nice towers.
Just raise earth
combat in this game is shit
just want something like a 3D terraria
I always recommend against this game despite having fun.
The devs don't updatee it enough. It's a small drip feed of content perpeutally. The game is balanced around multi player and filled with nothing but shit to waste your time because they know the content isn't therfe.
Shit like needing a ton of iron even into late game means nothing but constant swamp trips, you need hundreds of iron by time you geet to mist lands and it's only because they want to pad the time it takes. Too much time wasting.
When I ha COVID last year, I marathoned To Catch a Predator on one monitor and played a ton of Valheim on the other. No work, no responsibilities, not for two whole weeks. It was the comfiest I've ever been in my life, I think
It was a nice experience until you had to spend hours looking for and mining iron. By then I was getting bored. It's still a good game but I'll probably never play it again
The real crime is not allowing to use metals in portal. WHY???? This is some unreasonable artificial timegate. Just let me use fucking portals reee I aint gonna swim back and forth
You probably know, but there's a mod that does this and it changes the whole game for the better.
Valheim+ makes the game better.
I also recommend Epic Loot but I freely admit that isn't to everyones taste.
tell me about these mods
Valheim+ is a QoL super mod. If there's something in the game you can modify, Valheim+ allows you to change it. Here's a few notes:
Modify stamina consumption, stamina regeneration, stamina use from tools, carry load, inventory size, chest size, auto-pickup with a range, unarmed damage, remove screen shakes, disable portals entirely, allow metal through portals, velocity and accuracy of projectiles, sleep without setting spawn point, auto-fuel kilns etc, modify resouces gained from harvest nodes, modify how heavy the wagon gets, retain fuel in light sources, pull wood from chests if you don't use the retain system and a shit ton more. Each option is modifiable.
Epic Loot is much more simple in comparison. It adds a diablo style loot system and adds a small bounty quest system and a small crafting system.
Valheim+ is literally 10/10 though. Anything you want to change can be changed.
Look into Kuku's Villager mod.
did that mod that added bigger and tougher enemy variants get updated? forgot the name of it. was neat when I was playing with my buddies but we waited until our 2nd playthrough before adding mods and pretty much everyone stopped playing by the time we reached the black forest
MonsterLabZ updated March 1st but I don't know what it added.
neat. glad that ones still going for now
My main issue with epic loot is that not a lot of the loot is that epic and it can be surprisingly hard enchanting up something you like. But I did recently get a freebuild hammer and hoe and effectively broke the game. Mostly. (not that I'm complaining)
Whoa, is that a recent update? I never found anything with Free Build.
But yeah, some stuff is OP and sometimes you gotta just say "This is making the game worse for me, I'm gonna destroy it."
Also yeah, the crafting doesn't really work yet. It's just way too easy to farm drops. But it definitely breaks up the monotony.
Valheim+ is broken with the latest patch and if you rollback to previous stable version, EpicLoot won't work.
And I think ValheimPlus is abandoned anyway, none of the links work.
I was not aware that Valheim updated literally today. Yeah, all the mods are gonna be fucked for a while, my bad.
Yeah I started playing it again just day before yesterday and wanted to continue today but it's fucked. And I'm pretty sure I don't want to play it without ValheimPlus, it's just too much good QoL I would miss.
Playing with friends is a requirement to have fun in this game. Otherwise its total trash. Also fuck stamina systems.
anyone got some nice builds they could post?
Does it have npc villagers I can put in my villages yet?
Is this game out yet?
It will never be, anon
It's fun at the start but then when you become somewhat self sufficient and can traverse the world without trouble, you realize that nothing of your toiling has any point to it whatsoever if you play solo and it gets boring instantly.
>Why does noone talk about this game?
literally everyone was playing the game the summer it came out and everyone got burned out on it
it was really good but the updates are slow
there are always mods and stuff
it doesnt mog those games but it combines elements of them all to mog other survival games because the survival takes a bit of a backseat to the evocative feeling of being a comfy viking builder
i wish it were deeper though and there were more items/blocks to build with
>snoy
>tendie
>mogs
>soul
>comfy
>Why does noone talk about this game?
Because everyone put 80+ hours to it already 2 years ago, but because it's still unfinished, there's little reason to continue.
It's cool and cozy, but I only beat 1 boss and spent rest of my time building comfy castles and towers.
>mogging any game ever
it’s so fucking shallow and it’s only fun for a couple hours till you realize how shallow it actually it.
fuck swedes
terraria mogs this trash game due to the sheer amount of items and content it has. cope and seethe.
Terraria also has some autistic as fuck design choices and looks awful.
the game severely lacks content and is padded out by the tedious logistics game in transporting things. They've done a piss poor job balancing the various build archetypes, armors, and food items such that the experience is very much stifling. Its a fun game, but has a lot of obvious flaws. Poorly designed dungeons, buildings, and a lack of sites to find are the biggest ones amongst the obvious problems with the armor/weapon and food systems
Not the OP or the kind of shilling anon here, but I am a fan of the game and would like to hear specifics on poor dungeon and generated building design, if you could. I might be compiling a list of suggestions/complaints to share on Reddit.
Every asset in the game is poorly scaled to the height of the player. From the doors, to the stairs, the height of various dungeon walls, the size of broken down towers seemingly fit for no one but to serve as a set piece for nothing in particular. Troll cave opening arent even tall enough for the troll to fit through, dungeon doors and crypts make no use of scale, and there are no overworld dungeons to take advantage of. The myriad examples of really well built structures by players illuminate the absolute laziness and lack of creativity of the dev team. No mini bosses, lack of consistent light armor tiers, and very poor scaling alternatives that leave you completely vulnerable. The way armor ways you down and how combat is a game of backpedaling and long pauses due to the stamina system if you are fighting more than one thing at a time. A complete lack of design around fishing or the ocean at all, lack of flora variety, and lack of hybrid foods, only a few found in the entire game. Eitr seems like a complete afterthought and the archetype is currently terrible outside range cheesing of a singular enemy in the entire game
People played it and posted when it came out and then the devs let their success go to their heads and they never updated a single thing again
It's way too grindy and repetitive.
I played it when it released with my buddy and we played it when Mistlands came out. Now we wait for Ashlands... or when it's been completed in 5+ years.
mogs minecraft
Inferior building to minecraft and resource collection is even more tedious
>>Mogs terraria
Inferior progression and bosses to Terraria
>>Mogs Dark Souls games
Inferior Combat to Dark Souls
>>Mogs BOTW
Inferior Physics Interactions to BotW (I do love the falling trees though)
>>Has soul
Fair enough. Sailing and mountain themes are amazing and the art style is also great.
i enjoyed it for about 50 hours,
went to play it recently since mistland update and without the sense of discovery and awe of the first playthrough, the grinding, the iron especially was so tiresome I just didnt make it through to the mists.
Is it good?
Can I make badass plate armor and a giant sword yet?
>takes 20 metal bars to make one (1) piece of armor
Fucking hate this shit. Literal definition of artificial difficulty. Combat isn't even that hard, parry stab, parry, stab why even bother wasting 30 metal bars to make any other kind of weapon other than the sword? On top of everything taking an absurd level of stamina to use.
The premise seemed so simple, Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress and Runescape all together but like usual swedecucks take a good thing and run it completely into the ground. Remember that roadmap they got rid of after the game sold? Fuck Sweden, they deserve the somali morons raping their women.
Other notable swedish blunders:
>DICE
>Fatshark
It's unbelievable how gay&retarded one country can be
>to make any other kind of weapon other than the sword?
Good luck killing bonemass with a sword
Right, the ONLY time I waste another 20 iron is for the mace to kill Bonemass once, that's it.
The entire swamp is fucking shit.
I don't disagree
Don't forget about the upgrades, goy
>I don't disagree
yeah well you too are reasonable
fuck swedes
Just got it on gamepass for Xbox. Runs good, looks good. Fun so far. From my understanding you craft all the best stuff, fight the boss. Move onto the next age, craft the best stuff and fight the boss until they're all dead? I'll probably kill all the bosses and never play it again
I'm waiting until it's out of early access.
I really loved this game when it first launched, but I hated the abrupt, unfinished stop.
Also I don't like how the game is designed around portals and leave each biome.
I have been playing Conan Exiles with soem friends and I feel like it is a much better thought out and complete version of this. I'm pretty sure Funcom looked ot Valheim for their revamp of the game, and Valheim would be much better if they looked to Conan for some design inspiration/ philosophy too.
Devs dropped into EA and it took off like an absolute monster
Instead of getting stuck in and dropping meaningful updates quickly they decided to chill on their mountain of gold for years and now literally any hype this game had is deader than parachute pants and no-one gives a shit anymore.
