This game is seemingly as cursed as the vampires in it. From the recent video it seems they're streamlining the RPG elements, making it more like a Mass Effect than a Dragon Age (the protagonist is voiced, likely cutting many dialogue options).
I do think some of the changes could be interesting, like being an Elder instead of a Fledgling. Although I think many decisions are made to be the opposite of the original, even the setting reflect this: instead of LA in the summer it is set in Seattle in winter.
I honestly don't think I will buy it on release. Probably pirate it when all DLC is out along with the fixes.
>This game is seemingly as cursed as the vampires in it.
What are the chances they invovled sweet baby inc in the writing of this cringe fest?
wait... you mean the cult classic rebooted by people that werent invovled in the original and just bought the rights turned out to be garbage??? when has this ever happened!
Didn't they pay 1 or 2 of those boomers to come back?
They did. Then they scrapped the entire thing over "creative differences," closed the development studio permanently and restarted the project with an entirely new developer who then threw out everything and gave us "Phyre" the 300 year old danger hair protagonist with an offbrand Johnny Silverhand in her head.
No I don't think it was a creative differences thing. Brian was fired first and then Kara left, but this was explained away by writers finishing their job. The real danger signal was when Paradox announced that this former Ubisoft/EA game analyst guy had come aboard to HSL to see the state of the game, as his previous worked involved salvaging projects on the brink of disaster. He must have said to Paradox that the HSL version was not salvageable at all.
>Paradox announced that this former Ubisoft/EA game analyst guy had come aboard to HSL to see the state of the game, as his previous worked involved salvaging projects on the brink of disaster. He must have said to Paradox that the HSL version was not salvageable at all.
I think it really was creative differences. I think the "not salvageable" part was more that it was too late to make it an action first game like Paradox wanted. I think Misoda and the HSL built an old-fashioned CRPG game that was very much a successor to VTMB, warts and all. Meaning that the action part of the gameplay sucked and was unresponsive (like most action roleplaying games before 2015) but the roleplaying and vibe were probably pretty great. From what we've seen from The Chinese Room, it really looks like what Paradox wanted was Cyberpunk 2077 in the WoD universe. I doubt very much that their "fixer" was a fan of RPG's, especially coming from Ubisof/EA. And if you let the average Assassin's Creed/Fifa/Call of Duty player play the first VTMB they'll tell you that it's one of the worst games ever made and should be trashed. And that's exactly what happened.
Jesus Christ that is a horrible realization....We had it so good and we didn't know

now this is a fucking cope, also mitsoda is a giga SJW now and cara ellison is a horrible fucking writer, anyone who thinks the HSL version was going to be great is a clown
no one is surprised i don't think. i was hoping for a miracle but I definitely didn't expect one
>this likes to dislikes ratio
Ok I'm watching it now
Why do you fags pirate trash? Time is your most valuable resource and you let trash take it? If you do this, just have a nice day. You literally serve no function and the world is better off without you
I like the setting, personally. Although that only extends to the vampire one. Never really got into the others. From what I have heard of the Tabletop they are very disjointed even though they all take place in the same universe.
Werewolves are basically the Earth's white blood cells trying to fight corruption.
Mages are awakened beings that can twist certain aspects reality, but not too much or reality bitchslaps them back.
Hunters are just humans trying to hunt supernatural beings.
Mummies I frankly know nothing about.
Demons trapped in idols or some shit.
Fairies are twisted humans by Elder Fae, or something.
Someone will have to give me a rundown. Frankly the vampire one seems the most fleshed out and has deep root in Abrahamic religion, which probably helps. I would have them all sourced to it, like make Lilith the mother of witches and warlocks, the Fae are fallen angels who mated with Nature and Demons already fit right in, etc.
That's roughly it.
New Changelings are humans captured as toys and by living breaches in reality, who escaped although not intact.
Old Changelings are "classic" fae who stayed in the mundane human world for too long and got most of their magic&memory eroded away.
If you want to "seriously" crossover everyone's cosmology however, Mage is the one you need to use as centerpiece. Reality is whatever people believe it is: so every other supernatural group "version" of the world was right at some point and the reason shit is hitting the fan for all of them to a degree or another is because whatever beliefs/faith has sparked them as evolved toward something else and their supernatural power are now mostly running on remnants.
Another Anon spoiled the game in this thread:
>Just because I feel like it, and you guys are free to believe it or not, but here's the spoiler, and this is how dumb TCR thinks you are:
This isn't a mistake, it's a super-cute clue an enthusiastic but dopey writer put in for you. Weird how a 300 year old woman has a fade, right? So weird that a thinblood named Fabien (such an old-fashioned name...) tried diablerizing you, but wait... he's inside you... how does that work? So weird, are the writers stupid or something?
>Phyre IS the thinblood. Phyre tries diablerizing Fabien after she's created as a shovelhead in a typical mass embrace, she seeks out Fabien to diablerize him, except Fabien is an elder and Phyre isn't, lol, what the fuck did she expect to happen - and now her mind is completely fucked up beyond recognition, and she thinks she's always been the elder. Fabien needs you to stay alive though, so he'll help you as a nice voice in your head to get your bearings, but that's because he needs you to not die so he can take his body back from the idiot thinblood who thinks she can just diablerize an elder and get away with it.
>There you go, twist ruined for you. You can play it and find out yourselves.
Just as a hypothetical, wouldn't it have been cooler to have a game with the Lasombra and Tzimisce back in it? If you think about it, thinbloods would have been great actors in certain districts of hollywood.
If that's true then holy fuck. These writers deserve death.
It was just a guess from the initial thread, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if this were true. This is exactly the kind of Big Brained(tm) shit that comes from pretentious video game writers who think they're Very Very Smart
>removing the only interesting aspect of the reboot
Bloodlines 2 is cursed, holy shit.
So instead of you taking your body from Johnny Silverhand. Vampire Silverhand wants his body from YOU
Credits and what they hope will be generate enough money for another shitty spin off.

Paradox Youtube
>>They’ve deleted the Rik Schaffer Bloodlines 2 theme
They never had the Bloodlines 2 theme uploaded. It was always done through second hand parties. Suffocatedguy was the first who uploaded it and it's always been like that.
Shazamposting doesn't really work since *everyone* is expecting it to be absolute garbage, and most fan of the first one here would prefer the project to be simply canceled and buried.
did the devs cross an old gypsy woman while breaking their prized mirror collection?
With how modern writers are, I truly believe this will be the major 'twist' in this game.
At least now I don't need to hold onto my sliver of hope, nor even waste any time pirating this piece of shit when it comes out.
I just want a good vampire game...
Although very hipster, Vampyr was decent, imo.
Fixed protagonist with a voice?
There will only be three clan choices, four tops. Malkavian and Nosferatu will be locked behind paywalls a year after release no doubt, if the game does well at all.
You don’t have to guess. They just confirmed it’s releasing with 4 clans and two other behind dlc kek
>four tops
Ventrue
Toreador
Tremere
Lasombra
>Malkavian
Stuck behind the its own DLC
>Nosferatu
Probably
What character do you want to see back the most? I know they've confirmed Damsel, but surely other will show up, right? I WANT YUKIE... although Jack would also be nice. Btw, what's the WoD canon on what happened in VTM:B?
None
Enter my boy, Christof
>I know they've confirmed Damsel
That was the old Hardsuit Labs game which is dead and gone. The Chinese Room game is it's own thing that threw out the old script and only keep superficial elements so they could reuse assets, like the Seattle world map.
I always thought Yukie was cool and would be where a potential sequel would go
Frankly, it is a shame we never got to embrace anyone, but being a young one ourselves I can see why that wasn't an option, but I would have loved if it gave us the option to turn Yukie who then hunts us as a resentful vampire. Hope us being an 'elder' will give us something like it.
It's V5 so the embrace will be purely consensual.
wheres the drama in that
Wut?
>voiced protag
>named protag
Sad part is that homosexuals will defend this and claim "they'll wait for release" even though this goes against everything bloodlines stood for.
I'll wait for a deep sale some years down the line I guess...I just hope the devs actually see the feedback and realize their dumb mistake and just cancel the game.
The last time Chinese Room was given the job to develop a sequel to a beloved game, they removed all game design and made all the writing into pretentious drivel. I never bought it. It was eventually given out for free, and it still wasn't worth it.
Makes me wonder how the HSL version was. If Paradox thought that was bad and said the game now was in capable hands. (It's not in capable hands)
Apparently Lilith was going to play a major role in the game, a more active version Cain.
I remember the model, at least Lou got her veil.
That was only ever speculation.
But yes, the veil is cute.
old picture... mr. damp is gone....
I honestly think they've just repurposed his character model and he's in there somewhere as someone different.
I wonder what narratives they kept or slightly redid. In the first version we were a thinblood and would like choose a clan later via devouring an elder (although who on Earth would willingly munch on a Nosferatu?). Being an Elder vampire re-learning his or hers powers at least is an excuse to have a video protagonist advance at max speed. The original VTM:B had the fledgling become insanely strong in, what? a month? At least with Christof he was embraced in the Dark Ages and had to diablerizing a Setite to go down to being an Eight Generation.
Frankly, I'd want a VTM game where you can customize your character, being set in the past with a fast forward in the middle of the game so you get the full experience of being a vampire lord. Basically the best aspects of Bloodlines and Redemption
>although who on Earth would willingly munch on a Nosferatu?
Nossies weren't made playable as a clan, so it's that easy.
>a month?
4 days I think.
>elder
>has a zoomer haircut and a painfully "made for modern audiences" name
the twist is the PC is the thinblood and the voice in his head is the real elder he ate.
Didn't the world state end for this series? I remember reading Gehenna came and went and the creators tried to retool the setting, which fans hated because it fucked with lore.
Gehenna was garbage because:
1)half of the settings rely on no one being *certain* how much of its mythos is real and how much is just older vampires making tall tales to keep the low ranks fearful and obedient.
2)there wasn't even "a" Gehenna, just a bunch of separate and incompatible scenarios that gave a massive "we collected various fanfictions and put an official stamp on it to justify the pricetag" feeling
3)most of those scenarios were just garbage that weren't even fun nor interesting to play
Wormwood is kino, dude.
>anon says "most"
>coping apologist blurts out "NOT ALL! NOT ALL!"
Yes, thank you for your redundant non-contribution.
Just saying it like it is, my man.
