New Vegas has great role playing but isn't that well-written (apart from maybe Dead Money and Honest Hearts). Deadly Premonition is a cool and atmospheric game but has terrible writing.

It's the most fun Fallout game but it's far from good in terms of writing.
You must be too young. Fallout 1 has better writing. Planescape has better writing. Deus Ex has better writing. Anachronox has better writing. Actually almost any game from the 90s with an actual plot has better writing, from Diablo 2 to IHNMAIMS

Disco Elysium is great, but i hard disagree with the rest, even though i like them. The only other game that i consider well written is Pathologic. I also have to say that after having played it multiple times throughout the years since 2008, playing through the machine translated original version to the translated classic HD edition version was quite the trip. You really get so many mysteries answered after they got a competent translator to wrangle their super idiosyncratic prose from that game.
Why in the world do you think Deadly Premonition is well written? I like the game, but there is no denying its a hackneyed ripoff of twin peaks with retarded japanisms sprinkled in.

How do you even define "good writing"? Is it strictly about the prose, the dialogue, in-game books etc or does it cover the setting, character personalities, non-explicit lore and so on?
Good writing is whatever stories manage to click with you and let you get invested in the world and characters, and people's opinions on what elements make up "good" stories can be RADICALLY different for lots of people, as well as be reliant on whether or not the writers themselves can use these elements to good effect.
