An average player (see savage raider who endulges into other avenues of content as well) only ever really spends big money on crafted gear, food, pots, materia in the first week of raiding which can be 10-20 mil if not being frugal about it, but otherwise you are just chilling.

and no theres no such thing as "the guy at the end of the infinte sequence" its infinite therss no end theres always a guy in the next room its always full its INFINITE and FULL and cant fit more people

Each guest moves to the next room over.

                >Being full means it can't accommodate more guests
No, being full means every room is occupied. Despite every room being occupied, each guest can be reassigned a new room number of room+1.
How they physically move isn't relevant. They could all move at once, you could have some orderly handoffs and some people barging into a still occupied room. Doesnt matter.
What matters is that for each room n, there exists a room n+1. So you can transform the entire set of guest's room numbers by juat adding 1, and you'll find that room 1 is suddenly empty.

it fails since the guy in room 1 has nowhere else to go but room 1

youre working off the assumption that theres an infinite number of guests occupying an infinite number of rooms and that theres a guest in every room, which is NOT what is happening

The hotel is full because all the rooms are full.

It can nevertheless accomodate more guests in the way i described. It wouldn't be called a paradox if it wasn't at least counter-intuitive.

                Anonymous

its full t has no capacity it cannot accomodate more theres no room, this is what full means, theres no movement possible that erases this quality, the amount of rooms remains the same even if still infinite and if its full then its infinitely full, its not that theres a guest to each room, its that the HOTEL is FULL

is your fricking hangup with this that you think a hotel being "full" means that literally every square inch is occupied by a person or something? because that's not what "full" would mean in the context of a hotel

                Anonymous

its irrelevant, because its the HOTEL that is FULL, the amount of guests and the amount of rooms dont change, make everyone swap rooms and it CONTINUES BEING FULL = NO CAPACITY FOR MORE GUESTS

                The problem is expressed incorrectly.
An infinite # of full rooms != an infinite # of rooms + an infinite # of guests

Prove it. It definitely doesn't follow intuitively because the intuitive argument when you have an infinite number of roosm and guests is that you can always count the infinitely countable set to discover new rooms, but if those rooms are presupposed to be full because you have an infinitely countable set of full rooms, then you can count as much as you want, you'll never find an unoccupied room.

There is no such thing as "infinitely full" homie. Full is a binary. Its not an eldritch horror that refuses to accept guests by undisclosed means. A full hotel means every room is occupied.
Despite being full, you can make space so that its not full by transforming the room numbers.

You really don't understand the point of the problem.
There is no distinction between "full" and "all rooms are occupied". They're the same thing.
Let's remove the hotel and work with numbers. Let's say you have the set of all natural numbers. So 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.
You can apply a formula to this set where for each number you increment it by 1.
This leaves you with a set of numbers the exact same size as the previous set of numbers, despite 1 suddenly being MIA. This can help you visualize why infinity minus 1 is still infinity.

you fail to understand that the fact that the hotel is full it means that the capacity left for more guest is and will always be 0, so any operation you do will be multiplied by 0 and result in 0, every single time, because if it didnt then the hotel is not full which cannot be because the premise is that the hotel is full

did you tag the wrong guy, not read my post, or otherwise what's the disagreement

the problem is still thinking on terms of infinite guests and infinite rooms
hilbert's hotel in the paradox has infinite rooms and thus can fit infinite guests and still have infinitely more rooms available for ininitely more guests, because the hotel can never be full even if theres a guest occupying each room
but if the hotel is full then the amount of guests or rooms become irrelevant, as it overrides it eith the result of there being no more rooms available, regardless of if theres infinite of them

Hilariously, infinite space is at least plausible, whereas infinite people is literally impossible. Given those conditions, a hotel with infinite rooms can't be full, at least not by people exclusively. Is there random garbage in the existing other infinite rooms?

                Anonymous

I kinda figured you'd get upset by the physical logistics of an infinite hotel rather than accept the premise of the problem.
Whether it takes "infinite time" to evict everyone is completely irrelevant to the solution, but you're still wrong and it doesn't. Just use your loudspeaker/room buzzers to tell everyone to step out and walk to their left until they reach their room.

it doesnt "expand" to fit more guests, the number of rooms is set to infinite and the number of guests is set to infinite and because it has the propiety of being full then it has an infinite number of full rooms full of infinite guests and without the capacity of fitting more guests as all the rooms have the quality of being already full infinitely
so the fact that the hotel cannot accomodate more guests is an unchanging truth

Camus version is the best and is actually how every single person in earth should live life because there is no grand design in all ot this. Even if you achieve a goal you pursued, the happiness you will have is of short duration. Being happy all the time means living at the present moment.

This is what ruined video games. The average person was just content with the boulder. Then "unlocks" and "progression" created an "overjustification affect." And games that didn't have them would now feel "empty" and "pointless." Then, they monetized the overjustificating elements.
      >Early games
      >Just enjoying playing them as they are.
      >Mid-games (gen 5 - early gen 7 consoles, or mid 90's to mod 2000s)
      >You could unlock new boulders of different shapes, sizes, and unique properties. And new hills to roll them on. And cosmetics to make the hills and the boulders look different. You now get mentally trained that when you unlock them all you're "done" and need to buy a new one to start over.
      >Modern games
      >Like mid games but worse because these unlock options are now tied to spending more money for them or 'rolling' for them in lootboxes.

Camus says one must imagine Sisyphus happy. I disagree. Sisyphus conquered Death. He conquered Death twice. They say he was punished for his hubris with being "cursed" to live forever pushing his boulder, but he won. In the end, he won. Camus is an idiot. One should imagine Sisyphus triumphant.

He won twice. Only reason he wound up as he did is because the gods got involved. The solution is to kill the gods who control us.

Playing online games as a woman is exhausting

Men treat women like we aren’t even human beings, and even worse on the internet.

They scream at the top of their lungs “gamer girl” whenever they hear a female voice. Aren’t you embarrassed? You should be ashamed.

It’s not fun to play a lot of games as a woman where it’s required to speak because men ruin the fun by being pieces of shit. What goes through a male’s head thinking it’s okay to treat others like that. “Not all men” well guess what, it’s a massive amount of them.

Even speaking and simply saying hi can change the way you get treated once they find out you’re a girl/woman. Then you get called slurs and stupid shit. Go outside and take a class on how to talk to people.

A man invited me to his party in a game and was being friendly to me but the rest of his group was calling him a “simp” for showing me basic human decency.

If you get offended by reading this post, then you’re part of the problem. Showing basic decency is the bare minimum and we don’t even get that on the internet.

A lot of men need to grow the frick up and stop being rude buttholes

I don't know anything about cheese in the game but I just know that when in melee range enemies and your colonist don't shoot. So my two melee guys go down immediately and my other colonist had barely any shooting skill and within 3 seconds1 5 them got headshotted or downed. It's on permadeath so no going back. Someone already mentioned it but Disgaea. It takes a while to get to the end of postgame and it shouldn't be as fun as it is but it just simply is. Still, I've seen worse grinds, despite the notoriety. Just know what to do I guess.
I should mention SMTIII: Nocturne too, mainly on Hard, the game despises you and hits you with unavoidable crits and kills and the dungeons can be pretty bullshit at times but Press Turn is a fun yet simple system and the whole mood of the game makes the bullshit work.
Honorable mention to any MMO. Haven't played MH Frontier but combining MH and the MMO format is something that'd put Satan in despair, and it was done. I know some people like it anyway.

Are you too poor for Diablo 4? If God didn't make you play Diablo 4 buddy you won't be having sex soon. That's how it works, you have to play Diablo 4. Not for any reason too important I guess, it just seems like Diablo 4 was the quintessential experience in hell. So, if you didn't play Diablo 4 and notice the cool shit God put in it for the noticers, you're missing out. It's like an Easter egg hunt and our reward is chocolate. I get the feeling that OP lives for instant gratification and doesn't know the joy of overcoming a challenge.

He might even be a Kotaku game journo who's angry that he has to start playing videogames instead of inventing new definitions for bigotry to throw at gamers all day. The big one on his mind at the moment being one for gamers who oppose the idea that every game needs to be built for morons who can't find their own front door unless it's covered in yellow paint.
