The problem is that if you go to /vg/ and come back, the moronic fricking genshit impact threads in Ganker start to look hight quality.
Debating on whether or not I should get digimon survive
Pirate it or wait for it to get heavily discounted.
I finished one playthrough of it and I don't recommend it, I couldn't be stuffed going for getting the true ending in NG+ that's how little I ended up enjoying it.
If Digimon Survive is 70% VN and 30% SRPG gameplay, Gnosia is more like 70% werewolf game and 30% VN.
I finished it twice (Moral and True endings) and I recommend it. The characters are pretty nice and the gameplay, while simple, is fun if you enjoy SRPGs, raising numbers, and collecting mons. The choices in the story seem more impactful than most games I've personally played, and the endings are wildly different from one another. If you like Digimon, you'll enjoy Survive
KINOMON SURVIVE
i cried for Lopomon
Why yes, I'm playing "NTR Homestay: Gentle Wife meets Macho Exchange Student"
I fapped to that one
I like how her Jacket looks like it has the St. Lucia emblem.

My friend played "saya no uta" for us with H-scenes. It was aight
>My friend played "saya no uta" for us with H-scenes.
Why the frick would you do that, was this some sort of shitty group masturbation? VNs, especially VNs with horror elements should be played alone so you can fully absorb the story on your own and genuinely feel the weight of the writing.
>My friend played "saya no uta" for us with H-scenes.
>Why the frick would you do that, was this some sort of shitty group masturbation? VNs, especially VNs with horror elements should be played alone so you can fully absorb the story on your own and genuinely feel the weight of the writing.
>the weight of the writing
>VNs
Nothing. There are literally no new notable VNs to plays.
Definitely feeling this. Everything I'm playing is either a classic or years old at this point, everything current is plagued by shitty nu-anime art, a horribly unoriginal rehash of either Higurashi, Steins Gate, or Danganronpa, or a shit tier eroge from china just meant to get 2 bucks out of you for a fap to some traced art, or western Renpy trash.
Finished Corpse Factory yesterday. It's probably the best Western made VN I've played it, but still the story gets really stupid towards the end.
The anorexic serial killer MC jerking off to her murders was pretty sick though, genuinely repulsive.
Just finished this today, actually. I'm of the agreement that the prologue and first chapter start off really fricking strong, and then kind of peters out near the end as a bunch of implausible shit happens out of nowhere. Still pretty good though, great music, good VA (Kojiro's voice is amazing) and decent art.
there is a lot of shit that goes unexplained, though
Yes, Kojiro had the best VA (although the MC being Aiba from AI The Somnium Files was pretty cool too), but him chopping off his own arm was the dumbest fricking thing in the whole game. It's also roughly the point where the story stopped making sense, which is a huge shame.
>Game has strong/interesting early game/first chapter with tons of potential
>Game fails to live up to its own potential and is painfully average/bad in the mid/late game.
An all too common trend these days. Your discussion of this game reminds me a lot of the problems of Iwaihime.
Iwaihime was boring start to finish though. Even worse than Higanbana in that regard
Quickly made me think of it as one of the best VN this year to one of the worst thanks to very bad chapter 3, Everything related to Emi and her boyfriend and the second organization should be scrapped as well as Kojiro becoming a mystic leader at the end. Oh and also everything related to his dead wife in a wall is moronic. Overall 4/10 for at least trying to become like Dead Note with a A team crew and interesting protagonist.
Recommend me some good VNs, lads. I'm mainly looking for ones to play on PS4/PS5. Have already played Zero Escape series, Steins Gate and Raging Loop.

Is the first one better than this?
The edginess of the MC made NG unreadable for me after a while.
>Is the first one better than this?
IMO NG is much better, paces itself nicely around its limited number of rooms while Death Mark has to pad things out and feels pretty repetitive and barren as a result, until you hit the DLC.
>The edginess of the MC made NG unreadable for me after a while.
His edge dies after the intro and he's a non-character by chapter 2, they lose interest in pushing that real fast.
NG has its issues (what's up with the expression menu) but the protag isn't really one of them. Even the goon in the intro shows up as a friendly later.
But if the protag was your only sticking point, sure give Death Mark a try. Death Mark's protag is completely inoffensive, I hear they're bringing him back.
>I hear they're bringing him back
The third game is with him but its a side scroller now
Oh, they're doing a Twilight Syndrome thing?
That might be neat.
I liked the first one alot, went into the second one blind thinking I'd find more of what I liked. I couldn't play more than 10 minutes before dropping it because the MC is some edgy jotaro type character
Don't listen to that moron. Death Mark is actualy scary and choices matter. NG has shit protagonist and only 2 major annoying companions. Its crap and almost entire game is a rehash of the same locations which are mostly bland anyway, like samey looking street or office. Ending is also moronic and has no real impact on the player or the protag.
It's the same fricking formula and writing team for both, banish or exorcise the demon for a live or dead partner, what the frick are you on?
its much shorter and have less choices because you get only 2 partners
I liked the NGs characters more. In the first, aside from Mashita, the rest are forgettable.
Everyone has their opinion but I think the first one is far better than NG and I had some of the same issues you had with NG so we probably think similarly.
>playing the sequel first
Why do people do this? Knowing that human sized dolls can be evil completely blows the antagonist reveal in death mark. I liked both games for different reasons. I liked NG for fleshing out the characters and giving them more than two sprites, I also liked that they fleshed out the backstories of the spirits to make them look more like spirits of former humans than crazy monsters. Killer peach and the follow up chapter afterwards were the best cases in the series. Followed by red riding hood, that's where the series hit it's stride as far as puzzle solving, character interaction, and atmosphere. I liked Death Mark for it's puzzle solving, atmosphere, and exploration. They really limited where you could go in NG.
AI Somnium Files? Have you played the first one yet?
Also, gotta toss in Danganronpa too.
But true kino, if you're man enough, and can HANDLE kino....
428: Shibuya Shuffle
I played JPDE sonata of fire
Picked up Notch - The Innocent Luna Eclipsed Sinners on the summer sale, and I gotta ask, is there an alternate/fantranslation for this one? The steam version is so stiff, I honestly feel like I should just switch over to moonrunes.
I will now read your vn.
>You can draw ears, right?
>Yeah totally.
Recently completed Utawarerumono 2. I love Nekone and Kuon.
mfw I liked her for her purity
Nosato is bro-tier even if he's a massive simp
I liked how the game let him be part of the crew that gets to know about all the crazy shit that happened.
>Looks like an ordinary middle aged jackass with no redeeming qualities
>Actually very based and well defined character
>Willing to look past someone's faults to help redeem them out of his own love
Unironically such a great character. Looks like he'll fall exactly into your expectations, only to subvert all of them. Something the whole game did very well for the most part.
Middle aged? Isn't he and that shrine girl both in their 30s?
Hes 32 and Rikako is 27
Every time.
FRICK, this is absolute kino
Lol, kinda.
>tfw best girl Haru is techincally used goods
Literally everyone in the village is used goods if you count lesbian sex as real sex
>tfw when your waifu rikako is literally a depraved prostitute.
At least Haru would still be tight.
>Spoiler
She's pure in the mind, she was literally put into child prostituion by her family
>pure in mind
Lol no. She wanted to destroy the entire country and make everyone her prey. She is a evil b***h maybe as a result of mental illness or absorbing corruption from people.
Haru is best girl.
>spoiler
nah.
Why did this b***h melt when you took her out of the village at the end of the first loop if it was all just dudes in wolf costumes? Why was she trying to keep you from eating food from the village in the first loop? It never came up again.
>Plothole
>just a superstition
Is that a higurashi?
Has a story ever ruined itself so hard in the last 1/3 of the runtime?
Everything before the end of Darkness is a 9/10. Everything after is a 6/10 at best.
I don't even care about the answers to the mysteries, all the answers were what I imagined or as I moronic as I imagined they would be. But the whole story revolved around the fun werewolf game and then they go like 20 hs of boring explanation with no werewolf game while dropping the tone into a moronic comedy.
It definitely peaks during the Werewolf route while the Deathloop route is a bit dragged out, but ruined is a bit harsh, I liked a few of those exposition segments with Kiyo and the Old Man and such.
the explanation portion of the game was quite bad, but a lot of people really overstate how good the rest of raging loop is
its mafia segments are really basic, the music is constantly blaring the same shitty song in your ears, and the game cannot decide whether it wants to throw a joke in your face or be serious half the time
The answers were lacking indeed. the reveal that the senile old man was the boss werewolf who killed them in every loop of the corruption failed to take them doesn't make any sense. I can't see how he was not shot to death when he died tripping on his foot in the end .
Also there were lot of loose ends, like how the thing in the end of darkness arc appeared and how the power to summon it was taken away from rikako when the light goes off and also the secret fbi organization stuff. Despite its flaws i liked it and It is still better than 90% of the VN out there. The VN should have had more of Hashimoto vs Haruaki moments.
All of those loose ends are resolved in the "revelations" extra and the short stories you get at the end (don't worry, they aren't worth your time, and they add like 6hs of more boring exposition for a story that lost all mystery ages ago).
Actually that's the thing. There's a reason why in every mystery novel everything is explained by the detective in 1 short chapter immediately after the last clue is given. Once the mystery is over, the reader stopped paying attention to the story. After Darkness the story should have been wrapped up by 2 hs later tops.
I think running through certain parts with revelations is worth it. It answers several questions, like why some routes suddenly end despite you doing the right thing. Some of the extra shit is really good. It's neither
>too little and thus pointless
>too much and thus exhaustive
The side stories... I read one and i had to skip alot but it was okay. Probably skippable for all.
>doesn't make sense
The author basically tries to retcon it in the extra material by saying all the supernatural stuff was real, the protagonist has psychic powers that let him rewrite reality so supernatural events become mundane so long as he can come up with a convincing explanation.
>spoiler
Really? what the frick? That would change everything. I am going to read revelation mode and the extra short stories to see if it's convincing enough. If it isn't then my opinion on this VN would change drastically for the worse.
Revelations mode just reveals that the little girl is also psychic and used her powers to stop Rikako when the lights went off she's actually basically only in the game to be a cameo for the writer's other jpn only VN since she appears in that. There's a side story were the reporter lady meets the real Shin'nai who is shown eating the old man in the afterlife and the stuff about haruaki having subconscious psychic powers that let him change the mystery is mentioned briefly by sheep and not fleshed out all that much because it's sequel bait. Don't go in expecting this to have been seriously thought out, the author still never has Haruaki come up with explanations for why chiemi fricking melted etc.
It really feels like the author wanted to do his own version of a Umineko and then just tripped off a cliffside.
I would Raging Loop did a better job 'explaining magic'
Umineko is basically not even a mystery in a sense.
>Umineko is basically not even a mystery in a sense.
Did we read the same VN? Half of Umineko is classical closed room murder mystery scenarios and detective work. Raging Loop can't be called a classical mystery since the protagonist's viewpoint is unreliable and almost zero clues or murder deductions actually take place, it's just a horror story.
>horrible characters, a discarded premise, and so forth.
mental illness.
>CAN'T WAIT TO REREAD GEORGE'S DATES.
yes, they were very nice.
Anon, you're talking to someone who probably didn't even understand the solution until reading the manga. Don't bother.
eh half of the "mystery" in Umineko is playing mental gymnastics with definitions, dishonest storytelling and how red text can be subjectively interpreted by people with mental conditions.
I suppose it's still a step up from the "mystery" in Higurashi where worms in people's brains (that you conveniently can't see with a microscope) make them crazy.
>parasites causing actual mental changes occur in real life
>this isn't an acceptable answer
It's fine.
If you actually think Higu is less of a mystery than Umineko, seek help. IMMEDIATELY.
The mystery of Umineko is basically thrown away while in Higurashi it exists the ENTIRE time.
>>this isn't an acceptable answer
correct. There is no way you could possibly come to that being the conclusion for so many elements of the "mystery" in Higurashi. It borders on nanomachines in MGS-tier with how convenient its mechanics are tailored to the plot.
Like what? They just get paranoid.
Even in chapter 1, you can't just assume Keiichi is being paranoid because of brain parasites and even after you find out there's brain parasites you STILL can't assume all the shit he experiences was him being paranoid because he's literally attacked by the Mountain Dog people twice in the chapter. It's too convenient for the plot that it makes him paranoid that he thinks spicy food=needle in food.
The entire mystery of Higurashi relies on Hanyuu not telling who the killer is to Rika because...she just doesn't want to, ok?
If you actually Umineko is less of a mystery than Higurashi, seek help. IMMEDIATELY.
Doesn't Hanyuu also forget and isn't always present for her death?
Even then, we know that Hanyuu doesn't necessarily WANT Rika to find a solution and isn't necessarily a good person.
Umineko STARTS as a pure mystery, while Higurashi doesn't until the cop appears and tells them whats up and you try to figure out shit when chapter 1 ends.
But then Umineko drops the mystery COMPLETELY. Only later does some random guy come in and tell us the solutions.
It's not even Battler who solves it for the audience. He solves it and fricks off.
That's not a proper mystery.
Higurashi: the mystery is there the entire time, for every chapter and gets a resolution from the MCs.
>But then Umineko drops the mystery COMPLETELY.
Yeah, it drops it after the answers are revealed in Episode 7.
Higurashi's mystery is not realistically solvable. Umineko's mystery is.
What. More people solved Higurashi than Umineko in real life.
And it didn't rely on "well, the MC wasn't in the room, so everything the audience sees can be fake :^)"
Parasites that affect behavior EXIST in our real world. Diseases that cause hallucinations exist in our world. People just don't like the parasite solution because it was a bit too sci fi for them. I think a disease by itself would have been a fine solution, but a mechanism was needed.
>What. More people solved Higurashi than Umineko in real life.
The "Shannontrice Theory" was by far the most popular theory after Episode 4.
>And it didn't rely on "well, the MC wasn't in the room, so everything the audience sees can be fake :^)"
I don't know why shitposters keep making fun of this despite the fact that this "mechanic" is introduced in Episode 2 and is even explicitly explained in Episode 3 if you're a brainlet who didn't understand it.
>Higurashi: the mystery is there the entire time, for every chapter and gets a resolution from the MCs.
The mystery is barely relevant for the first half of each Question Arcs chapter.
It's literally called the questions arc. You the player are the one trying to solve the mystery
>why are characters acting this way
>why did the city get shut down
>who is murdering people
This is in the forefront of your mind the entire time.
This thread is worrying me.
You can't say that the mystery is "always present" in Higurashi, a game where the first half of each chapter is full of mostly pointless SOL scenes, and then say that Umineko "drops the mystery completely".
>go into an Umineko thread
>half the fans will say you didn't pay attention if you think the story was about a mystery. stating it's a romance
>half will say the opposite
>Mystery
>the mystery element is dropped in the 2nd half and solved secondhand by a newly created character
>half the characters are pretended version of other characters
>protag's viewpoint
How unreliable is Umineko? How many times do Shannon and Kanon appear in the same room?
>How many times do Shannon and Kanon appear in the same room?
How many times do they appear in the same room while the detective is the POV?
Doesn't matter. It's unreliable POV for the audience. Raging Loop does NOT have this. It's also a huge cop out.
Anon, I like Raging Loop, but like half if not more of the twists rely on Haruaki's narration lying or not telling you what he actually thinks. At least Umineko tells you that the narration is unreliable in Episode 2.
>half if not more of the twists rely on Haruaki's narration lying or not telling you what he actually thinks
No? Like what? yea, he lies but it isn't related to the mystery (Like his name)
He solves the mystery for many things and doesn't state it till later but the reader could come to the same conclusion.
What in the world are you talking about?
The game literally starts with Haruaki pretending that he doesn't know that the clerk is his ex-GF.
And like you said, Haruaki spends most of the time knowing the truth about the feast but just doesn't tell you.
> Haruaki pretending that he doesn't know that the clerk is his ex-GF.
I refuse to accept that as a real part of the story. It was a stupid thing they tossed in. Not a retcon but an unnecessary story change.
>lies to the reader about knowing the clerk
>hides from the reader the scene of him finding spy cameras all over the village.
people have solved umineko just with episode 1.
I feel like "not seeing spy cameras" is a lot more justifiable than straight out lying to the audience by stating two characters are interacting, in front of others.
the spy cameras are literally damning evidence to the truth of the murders, awful writing to have MC discover them offscreen.
>straight out lying to the audience by stating two characters are interacting, in front of others.
You are literally told in episode 3 that anything not seen from the detective POV cannot be trusted.
>you literally told me
I didn't. Someone else
And yes, I think they should have him see it on screen. I get why they did it. He's explaining everything before the third route right? Wanted to wrap everything up.
>>you literally told me
>I didn't. Someone else
...what?
Oh shit, I'm getting tired. Ignore me.
>You are literally told in episode 3 that anything not seen from the detective POV cannot be trusted.
pic ? i m interested
>pic ? i m interested
the thread is about to die, virgillia explains it to battler after he gets fed up seeing her magic battle with beato.
only the culprit performs murders. except when things go off the plan in 3.
That's literally the whole point of the scene where Virgilia explains the "Schrodinger's catbox" analogy to Battler.
Incredible how the same people who somehow don't understand basic things like that are also the same people who complain about Ryukishi "explaining the same thing multiple times".
Did haruaki not discover the spy cameras until the very end of the third route/post-game route wheres he's literally looping hundreds of times just to optimize autism?
It's in revelations mode, I think on the first or second route.
Revelations mode is technically cheating, but I'll still agree it should have been later. But it still doesn't impact the mystery.
Even Sherlock Holmes doesn't reveal everything till the end.
>the mystery element is dropped in the 2nd half
The mystery element is never dropped, parts 1-6 are the mystery, 7 is the answer and 8 is resolution.
>How many times do Shannon and Kanon appear in the same room?
never from the detective's POV, Umineko follows Knox.
>Don't defend George's shit.
seethe, George is a great character.
It's both, this might blow your mind, but stories can be about more than one thing.
>But then Umineko drops the mystery COMPLETELY. Only later does some random guy come in and tell us the solutions.
Do you enjoy making up bullshit? Every Umineko chapter has mystery until the solutions are revealed in 7.
George's dates with kanon are beyond shit, son.
>But then Umineko drops the mystery COMPLETELY
Not sure what this anon means, but I actually kinda agree. It felt (to me, at least. and I might be wrong with what he means) taht the mystery took a backseat a little, as if other things became more important.
yes, still murders and mysteries but it felt like it didn't matter as much.
But I also don't remember 6 very much.
I think the story shifted to be more about Beatrice and Battler and their relationship.
>It's both, this might blow your mind, but stories can be about more than one thing.
No, I mean, they straightout will claim you should not treat it as a mystery. I absolute think they can be both, but they defend the game not following certain mystery rules by stating its a romance.
Usually regarding William.
>Half of Umineko
>protagonist's viewpoint is reliable
>"nobody ever found out the two servants are the same troony" umineko
Imao
Don't defend George's shit. I already think Umineko gays justify every thing because of being embarrassed to admit they spent 100 hours on a below average VN.
I don't mind killers have accomplices but it went beyond insane how many kills relied on servants killing and DYING for Beatrice. I know it's not a popular opinion, but feeling that HALF the people are willing to frick over Battler, for whom I thought they'd also feel loyalty for, was a bit too much.
I wish I could explain it better but an 70% werewolf game of werewolf is unfair.
only genji is willing to die, the others are forced or tricked.
Only genji willing to die: Okay
Not sure about to KILL. That has to be a possible solution that others are killing.
Frick, I'll need to reread a summary or something.
The accomplices never do anything except tell lies or pretend not to know what's going on. They are all either being forced into it or are tricked and then quickly killed off after they play their part.
Honestly, that's just as bad.
Not having any trustworthy shit was annoying. And even red truths were so subjective. I think it might be a translation issue but I recall reading a red truth that basically talking about imaginary shit.
I think that's not a fair mystery, especially for one following rules set by other writers.
Most of the servants didn't know that Beatrice wanted to really kill people until it was too late though. Only Genji knew her true intention IIRC.
>spoiler
Seems like battler has some stiff competition right there.
The moment the wolf route stops it becomes fricking moronic.
Like other anon said theres couple of good parts still, but man oh man it literally was a drop from 9 or 10 to 6 or 7.
About right. Honestly, it's probably solid 10 till then.
I liked the looping shit with Chiemi but then again I love crazy b***hes.
>last 1/3
Nah, you mean last 1/10
I still loved it and enjoy it but FRICK....
But I still recommend you go back and see the other perspectives and shit. It's pretty fricking cool. And most things do get answered, though not all...
But yea, what a shame...
I liked Raging Loop, and I understand why it went the way it did. I think the author was worried he'd be mocked for taking his own game too seriously, mainly due to the solution arc portions with Hisako, the Nosato clan, the kanji wordplay (with places never before introduced in the game), and Haruaki's rationalizations.
They were torn between wanting a haunting mystery with supernatural elements, a tragedy about cults and poor Japanese, and a Layton-style unmasking of the big bad.
There were a lot of new faces to the industry with RL, so it's hardly any wonder they lacked confidence in the end product. It was good though, and the author gave us extra scenes with the characters as a neat encore. Loved the ghostess innkeeper.
I think most people loved it, so you won't be in the minority, anon. It's just that the ending is rough, though you might be right in the justification.
Actually, the Sheep can never be justified it being his ex girlfriend
That was horrible.
That part is a bit much, but I think the more important thing is the fact that they couldn't decide whether or not magic existed was what was wrong there.
Because the main character is a masculine guy who pursues women. Beats out the "You were nice to me" shit 100%.
If they were satisfied with this game they would make a sequel that they were baiting in the epilogue. They figured out they wrote themselves into corner with Chiemi ending and by making the curse fake
>If they were satisfied with this game they would make a sequel that they were baiting in the epilogue.
They did. It just wasn't localized. "Death Match Love Comedy".
>They figured out they wrote themselves into corner with Chiemi ending and by making the curse fake
Check the extra stories. Author found another direction to take that.
>Characters that play the double role of detective and MC always come off as sociopaths, because they have to have sentimental moments with the cast and also be completely detached from them.
Yes, and part of Haruaki's character is that he actually is a deranged sociopath. Author leaned into it.
That game has literally no connection to Raging Loop you frickign baiter its not a sequel
Its only percieved as good by people who like Wesrewolf game. Without this game it would have been a shit boring story about japanese red necks
Just finished pic related last night. Thought it was pretty good only wish there was more to it. My only gripe would be that the whole "rub scar" thing was a massive turn off.
Been reading "FLOWERS -The volume of summer-" lately. Overall it feels much better than the first part, mainly because they are focusing on 2 heroines instead of trying to pull off a love triangle. Also tsundere x tsundere is mega cute.
My only two complaints so far are Yuzuriha not getting enough screentime and this boat. Is this even a legit way to place rowlocks? It doesn't look like you'll get enough leverage to row easily and if you try to retract paddles a bit more, they'll just get in the way of each other. Maneuverability of the boat will probably suffer as well. The boat that long should also have seats. Guess they just sacrificed the boat's credibility for the sake of the scene.
Anyone read Anonymous;Code yet? Or is it still tethered to /jp/ threads?
I saw that it references Ganker. not even "@chan", Ganker.
The Japs are probably only vaguely aware that Ganker is a real website already
I think that's because Occultic;Nine and Anonymous;Code are supposed to be taking place in "our world", unlike the other SciADV VNs, so it uses real websites' names. Don't quote me on that though.
i don't have a source on hand so don't quote me either, but i've heard the part about c;h/s;g/r;n being fiction was retconned out
Yeah but aren't they still on another world layer than O:N and A;C?
>I think that's because Occultic;Nine and Anonymous;Code are supposed to be taking place in "our world", unlike the other SciADV VNs, so it uses real websites' names.
Would've unironically been better in that artstyle and without the atrocious voice acting. I fricking hate Rikako with all my might and skipped all of her audio lines. Completely unnecessary padding author's pet character

>She was a creators pet yet Chiemi got the true ending even though she was the most boring of all 3 route girls
Your shit taste is crazy. Chiemi won because she had the best natural chemistry and bants with ???-san and because they've both mentally ill sociopaths.
I honestly don't like Haruaki.
Characters that play the double role of detective and MC always come off as sociopaths, because they have to have sentimental moments with the cast and also be completely detached from them.
Everyone is obsessed with making their detectives the new Sherlock Holmes, but the Watson archetype is just as important, since they take most of the emotional work in the story out of the detectives' shoulders, like Maya for Phoenix, or the police squad for L, or even Mamiya for Hashimoto in a way.
Chiemi was trash for brain damaged yandere gays. You should have a nice day right now
>Chiemi was trash for brain damaged yandere gays.
Well i hate Yandere's and im a Chiemigay. You can stop coping your boring used goods girl lost.
I bet you're a Miongay/Shion, fricking trash taste
Not him but Shion would be a nice protective gf when not crazy
and Mion has no flaws.
But I'm still a Renafan.
Been replaying Making*Lovers in preparation for the FD later this month, It's still good
>for the FD
What's this FD you are talking about?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2093420/Making_Lovers_After_Stories/
Oh the Fan Disc. Didn't know about this. Thanks.
Thoughts?
Just started Digimon Survive.
I am going to start reading GNOSIA later today
yea, Gnosia is more gameplay than most VN and it's pretty fun. But it can be a pain to unlock everything. But it's worth a glance. Maybe even money!
but only if you like Werewolf/Mafia
Not worth playing for the story since all characters have like 2 pages of dialogs and things you unlock about them barely even matter. Gameplay loop itself is interesting for like an hour or 100 games
Manan is best girl.
Kukrushka too
>Kukrushka
Liked her till I got her backstory.
Shit taste, her backstory only made her better.
Her being Manan makes her hotter
empty doll or a a psycho chick
Eh, I can see why you'd like it but it's not for me.
>the best looking VN is a digimon game
OHNONONONO VN SISTERS WE ARE DONE!!!
Rewrite, Angel Beats, Key post ,2006 still looks great
Currently rereading Steins;Gate in Japanese.
Does it have an option to switch between Japanese and English Text?
No, not really. For the steam version you have to redownload the game if you want to change the language.
That sucks. The inbuilt option makes life easier to learn and the other option of texthooking is slightly inconvenient. Umineko and 9-Nine had the option to switch, it helped me learn a lot.
Why rereading instead of trying something new?
My japanese is only good enough to read run of the mill moege. And i feel like I'd just ruin the experience for myself if i try to read something with my current level of japanese.
The point-and-click gimmick slowly driving me insane.
Not to mention the fact that I might have cucked myself by getting the remake version.
Is there even a stepmom H-scene?
there are no h-scenes in an all-ages remake you dumb frick
>The point and click gimmick slowly driving me insane
Wait until the true end, you'll probably really end up in an asylum then lmfao.
Finished all the Pixelfade games (got them during a steam sale months ago and finally found the time to read them). If anyone's interested, my suggestion is to only play Ace Academy since it's the only good one and fun to replay since it has many choices that help you roleplay as different characters. You can play Kaori after story if you liked her route in Ace Academy, this one is short (around 4 hours) but not bad. Crystalline is meh and ethereal enigma is terrible (the only good thing was Kira, but even her ending was disappointing).
digimon survive
somehow still not finished with it, just got to part 9 on my first playthrough and fricking kaito and miu are fighting again. i thought they were done with this shit
i'd really like to see this game to it's end but part of me is just losing motivation
otherwise i'm tempted in picking up the utawa trilogy since it's on sale and i've heard a lot of good things about it
>picking up the utawa trilogy since it's on sale and i've heard a lot of good things about it
I know most anons love it, but I finished Mask of deception on my psvita and found it boring. You don't really get to influence the story through choices and the characters relationships didn't really strike me as great. It also felt too long and slow considering it was only 1/2 story. Maybe it gets better in mask of truth, but I really didn't feel like trying it.
just finished higurashi, i regret putting it off for so long
Did you like the ending? If by finishing Higurashi you mean the main 8 chapters then there is also Rei on steam that was released like 2 months ago.
yeah, the final chapter was one of my favourites
waiting on the 07th patch for Rei before i buy it, probably gonna watch the animu in the meantime
I'm exactly the same on both fronts. I loved how Matsuribayashi was so uplifting only because of the suffering from all 7 previous chapters. Not in a meta sense (stories should be balanced with both sad and happy) but purely looking from the story's perspective. Everybody gave their all, losing their way (like Shion in 2/5 and Keichi in 1) but still struggling for a better tomorrow and that was the requirement for Matsuribayashi's existance. What a beautiful game.
a shame it required the villains to suddenly become hugely incompetent
Who became incompetent? Miyo?
the mountain dogs
Higurashi is fricking amazing. i also regret thinking it was just a stupid edgy thing.
there IS one more side story that might be worth a look.
Some correct me, but it's Saikoroshi-hen?
raging POOP
RGD chads we keep being forgotten by everyone
MEIJU SUPREMACY
I just completed RGD a week ago, the Yuki sniping scene made me cry, I didn't think my boy was going to walk away with his head intact.
RGD really made me fear snipers
This visual novel was really accurate regarding chinks, both in the good and the bad. Really funny coming from weeb media
>Wang DESTROYS Rose with facts and logic
>after the timeskip Japan lost and he was right all along
giga-based
Not really VN but should I give hello charlotte another try?
I watched the anime many years ago and thought it was boring. Didnt remember much of it
Is it worth reading the VN for Frau?
The VN is way better than the anime. The anime is a pretty horrible adaptation.
That's good to hear, I've always wanted to play it and since it got ported to Steam I want to try it but wasn't sure if it's as bad as the show.
I have this downloaded and will be completing it sometime this year! Kuro!!
If you do get it, make sure to get the Robotics Notes Steam Improvement Patch. It adds mouse support plus some bug fixes.
>The anime is a pretty horrible adaptation.
All vn adaptions are terrible, with the sole exception of S;G which was okay. Funny how the anime for chaos head was more of a slogfest than the visual novel.
Hmm, Clannad's anime is pretty fricking good.
Frau deserved better.
Higurashi, Umineko and above all MLA are the peak of the medium and you can not, and will not convince me otherwise
Subahibi is the peak.
Atleast you didn't say that Dies Irae is the peak.
Most people who like Dies Irae acknowledge that it has tons of flaws. No one who read the entire thing goes around saying it's the peak. The main route is fricking garbage and a lot of the story feels clumsily stitched together. Still a lot of good content in the game though.
i liked it enough to read it three times. yeah, it has tons of flaws, but it just has that soul to it that makes it hard to hate. it just hooked me and i love reading it despite everything i could complain about
Will there ever be another Schizofest VN like Subahibi?
I dunno. I'll fill the void with other denpa games like Sasagu
or the Tsui no Sora remake. Or just rereading Subahibi.
LIKE Subahibi?
Maybe not
But schizo? For sure.
I could have sworn I've played some before.
AI2 kinda had a moment but i wouldn't compare it...
Yeah as long as it's reaally schizo. I want to play Chaos;Head but I'll wait for the Noah version, what's AI2? AI Somnium Files 2?
Well sorry... what's a second rate detective game mean? Does the VN have to have gameplay for you?
>works in player choice in a nice way that doesn't feel at odds with the vn style
I don't really know what this means either but I can try find some VNs for you, I just thought you wanted something "professional made" and like Ace Attorney.
Oh, Chaos;head is kino schizo.
And yes, AI2 is Somnium files too.
Ehh, it's very minor schizo. But you'll see it early in the game.
Here's another game where the MC goes full schizo mental breakdown mode: https://vndb.org/v37
Honestly if you want the good denp shit learn jap
>learn jap
Geniuenly how? That VN isn't a beginner one too for new speakers... it has some complicated vocab I've heard.
He means learn Jap, separate from reading this.
I think VNs are the best way to learn Japanese but you'll have to start with simpler games (moege) before moving onto the ones with more complex language or plot.
Really you can learn Jap with any VN you are interested in, even that one but I seriously wouldn't recommend it, that game in particular I struggled with sometimes. You will just go slower and look up more words.
how do I learn japanese reading vns?
https://animecards.site/
https://learnjapanese.moe/vn/
way too complicated, thanks anyway
Don't follow the MoeWay guide because it's a scam run by a turkish troony. Ignore his idiocy poor frick is a mentally ill spammer trying to scam people with his site. If you truly wish to learn Japanese i would recommend you to read Tatsumoto's guide to learning Japanese so you will reach true fluency level.
>Tatsumoto's guide to learning Japanese
Looks legit, I'll shill it instead. I learned Japanese a decade ago before all these shill blogs existed in the first place and the ol' texthooker + anki + tae kim's is still what I recommend.
true true
tatsumoto is a colossal autist with shit tier advice, you're replying to him btw
>Geniuenly how?
How to learn Japanese? For starters read Tatsumoto's guide to Japanese, then just do what it says.
Those VNs are really long and bad for my attention span. Higu and Neko doesn't have the best art so no. Haven't read MLA.
higu and umi have SOUL
The art is good as it is, the characters are extremely expressive.
Just look at how they ruined them in the PS adaptations
They're good for reaction images amd meme material but that's about it. Dis the hard truth. I tried playing with the old sprites because I thought they were good but it just doesn't really work and I used the PS3 ones instead.
You have shit taste and I hope you die in a fire
Shut up pretentious homosexual, he's right. Its hard to take a stoey about abuse and kids being mentally and physically abused when they look like this
I like the sprites but, they just don't fricking work. Imagine if higu also had gore CGs like the anime. It would be x1000 better.
It would be significantly worse
Higurashi isn't about the gore at all. The anime is trash by the way
>isn't about gore
What about the Shion torture scene though?
The anime skips a lot of things but the character expressions are gruesome and I commend them for that.
I have no clue how people can be so tasteless as to not like the art from Umineko or Higurashi. The only criticisms I have about it is that not everyone has sprites in Higurashi and I wish it had more cg pictures for key events.
I hate Umineko.
You can use patches to update the art if you must.
Higurashi isn't that long and it's very good.
also the manga adaption is quite good and will speed up your reading, but it doesn't answer some very minor questions.
>Higurashi isn't that long
why do you have to lie to him? It's like 80 fricking hours? It's certainly longer than the majority of VNs.
Well, good point. I guess it's because I had Umineko in my brain.
Umineko and Higurashi are about the same length, we're talking 10 hours of difference at best.
Umineko felt like 50 hours longer than Higurashi.
Umineko must feel longer as it's so fricking boring 50% of the time.
If anything, Higurashi felt longer to me because half of the scenes were pointless SOL scenes.
I have the 07th mod installed yeah. Still the PS3 sprites are just decent. I actually finished ch.1 because it really got good after the festival. Haven't read much of ch.2 though.
Summer pockets or muramasa?
These are the top translated VNs.
When did HA get fully translated?
filtered
It'll happen eventually.
these all look gay asf. makes me want to learn japanese.
Every time I see ever 17 in one of the "top" lists I automatically know that the list was made by someone who didn't play it.
Literally elden ring like content recycling for a story that's twists have no epic revelation.
You'll come out of the story with a "that can't be the true end, can it?"
Lol. Whatever you say.
>They told me it's good so I have to like it
Fricking dumbass, at least provide a reason for why I'm wrong.
It's a fact that the game recycles a frick ton of dialogue and makes it unskippable.
it is skippable if you use the newer patch that came out, actually
that guy is a moron though, ever17 is pretty good but it's not one of the greats
It's good and it had some memorable moments, but if you've read one or two uchikoshi VNs then you've read all of them. Reading it after reading 999/VLR had me wondering what the praise was all about
this isn't true, uchikoshi recycles a lot of concepts but all of his works are distinct in their own ways and he's only begun to reach truly pathetic levels with ztd, wec, and ai 2
The dialogue recycling ruined everything good the game had for me. The twists weren't grand and exciting, I was always like "is that it?", The only parts I really enjoyed were the Sora dates and that's mostly it.
No one told me to like it. I played it and loved it. The twist is really cool, especially putting the pieces together to realize time gap
Loved the characters too. And amazing music.
Just a shame the Uchi repeats twists.
Yes, the biggest flaw was that when I played it, I could not skip. So painful.
I'd put it up as very good. If the new version allows skipping, it's a must play once.
Imagine having shit taste. Ever 17 literally inspired your favourite auitsts like Kodaka and Uchikoshi
>Ever 17 literally inspired your favourite auitsts like Kodaka and Uchikoshi
uchikoshi literally wrote ever17 you incompetent fricking dipshit
This is your average Ever 17 fan.
Of course Ever 17 inspired Uchikoshi, it's because he fricking wrote it you absolute dumbass.
If he wrote it then it's shit and i no longer like it
Pretty good list
but if you go for the middle, Kara no Shoujo, be aware the third game will never be translated. I think you could just play the first though.
But it will frick you up.
>but if you go for the middle, Kara no Shoujo, be aware the third game will never be translated
huh? why?
>can't even take a little depressive amputee blood-related incestious minor reverse-rape bad ending
Cartagra is absolute bullshit because it turns predictable and incredibly clichéd at a certain point of the story. Even a novice writer would have written a better story but it ends up like it was written by a moronic brainlet. Never have I seen a greater waste of potential in a VN.
>Why
Because no one is doing it. It's been so long. Maybe interest dried up.
>cartagra
How to find a shit VN list.
Where is Muramasa
>atleast 30% of the dialogue is sophistry about how "might is right"
That's a nah from me, my friend
I'll never understand the hard-on for innocent grey VNs, they're good, sure, but I would never put them on the same level as the rest of the list
No fricking clue. Is it because they are edgy and mature themed? They're really not bad, but they're a bit too similar in style.
I only read Ever17, Stein Gate and Higurashi. Im not going to dwell in Fate shit that has like billion spin offs and sequels and Clannad is a slice of life crap. What are the other games?
>Clannad
>Slice of life
Are you trolling/memeing or do you actually not know what Clannad is?
There's a reason it's highly rated.
???
it's tagged as one on vndb and it's completely appropriate as a tag
It's a romance VN.
It's not a series of mundane events. It has a pretty strict narrative. Get to know girl, date them, happy ending.
See this:
It's a drama.
eden, ef, and clannad are drama, the other 2 are dark seinen detective stories
Wtf were they thinking with the steam ones?
I have no idea. I don't mind people picking left, and right is great, but FRICK THE MIDDLE.
Thank god, it's so easy to patch out. Also, doesn't steam give you the choice to switch anyway?
Fricking game forces me to finish all the other girls route before being able to access the childhood friend route. I had to see best girl got cuckolded. But I guess enforced playing order meant that konomi's the true route
To whoever recommended me hatsumira. FRICK YOU. It was a waste of time and the VN sucked balls. If you really liked it, what the frick is wrong with you? Do you like eating shit?
I've been unimpressed with every vn I've played besides the ace attorney games. those have good writing, a nice coherent story, likeable characters, is genuinely funny, works in player choice in a nice way that doesn't feel at odds with the vn style. where are all the other professionally made vns like this?
I'd say Zero Escape or Hotel Dusk Room 215.
that's all people ever say in response to posts like mine. I don't want second rate detective games. I want something else
>I don't want second rate detective games.
good, play 999/VLR then
Hmmm, you have very particular demands.
428: Shibuya shuffle?
Also, how in the world are you calling Zero Escape a second rate detective story? it's what you want.
I've been avoiding 428 because I don't like how type moon handled all the random bad endings you can get in their past work and it has the same tag. is it handled better in 428?
doesn't have to have gameplay but having something unique above choosing dialogue options that isn't just a complete breakaway from a vn (like adding in 3d shooting sections) is really appreciated by me.
99% of 428 is not type moon
the type moon part is garbage and it unlocks after the main game
I was going to say, wtf is he talking about? No way this is a Type Moon game.
Yea, it's not part of the main game.
I haven't looked into the game much. just saw them listed as one of the devs on vndb
Consider checking it out. It's pretty damn kino.
I would say the bad endings are handled well. Definitely wouldn't call them random.
What was your issue exactly, then I can answer better?
my issue with the random bad endings in past type moon games? I just don't like having go to back and read stuff again (especially if I didn't save) and it being out of my control. in ace attorney you can fail a lot but you can think it through to succeed. it's not like how you can choose to go to the school at night and then randomly get killed by a vampire in tsukihime
Yes, I meant in type moon.
Hmmm, I would say 428 has a bit of it, but it's pretty quick bad endings.
I'm gonna be honest, I think the proper choices are obvious enough. There's an achievement for getting a certian number of bad endings and I'm not even half way there and I've beaten the game.
There's no save option in this game and you can skip read text immediately but as I said, you won't have to go back to a previous choice from too far.
The game play is pretty different.
Basically you play in hour blocks, starring different characters. So you play their POV for that one hour (like taht show 24 apparently). You make choices and some can lead to bad endings or finally the 'true' end of their POV in that chapter.
Once all characters meet their true end, the next hour unlocks (sometimes with different characters and their POV).
BUT! sometimes you cannot progress in a POV until you make the right choice in another character. So you can't go through a door, because it's locked, and that's because in another POV you didn't unlock it. So the POVs intersect, alot, but sometimes they have to do it to unlock the next part.
This sounds annoying but it's not. It's really cool actually. The only downside I saw was that sometimes you don't know which decision fricked you up (but you can semi brute force it) or check a guide. But for me this happened maybe twice.
428 has a shitload of bad endings but they're incredibly well organized, cause and effect are all segmented into micro-blocks of player actions in the overall story, they're easy to undo/subvert and it's a comedy, so them coming out of nowhere is funny.
My only issue with 428 is no instant text display. And that's sincerely the only issue.
alright it'll be the next thing I read
>the only issue
there's also stuff like certain characters not getting punished for their actions
and Nasubi/Yanagisita pretty much disappearing halfway into the game
having said that, 428 is a must play
I spent upwards of $1k collecting *all* the pre-order bonus telephone cards, the rental demo disc, the official Ecokiti shirt (pic is unofficial), the soundtrack, Kamiki Aya's CD single etc
I probably have the most complete 428 collection in the world unless somebody owns the Tama kigurumi
Well, they only appear if they play a role in that hour.
The game gets a bit more serious so I understand him taking a backseat. But I also don't remember him disappearing near the last half, because I was too engrossed, so maybe it's more noticable.
if you mean the bad guy not getting punished, you have to do the true ending
I almost missed it myself.
I mean En'dou Ati's dad and Cane Guy getting away with attempted murder
correct me if I'm wrong, I have not played the game since early 2009
Oh, you're probably right.
I don't believe people who say they've read over 500 vns.
This is how
There's lots of short ones (1-2 hours) and you can skip routes and not 100% everything. Just get the true route and move on.
Dating VNs for example, you could FINISH but not get every girl.
I usually 100% everything and up past 100 at this point.
If i had no life, never read books or played other vidya or watch tv/movies, I could have hit 500.
read hage
Anyone redpill me on "Our World is ended".
I see absolutely no one talk about it.
I only read a few VNs. YU-NO, Hotel Dusk/Last Window, Katawa Shoujo, Zero Escape/both AI games, Higurashi, Umineko (nearly twice over, almost done re-reading ep8 again) and Ciconia phase 1. I don't get hooked up on these easily.
Anyone played Tokyo Dark?
Any good?
do I spend almost ¥28K on アパシー 鳴神学園七不思議 限定版 ファミ通DXパック
(y/n)?
What is this about?
it's an Apathy game, it's horror
ignore the guy saying "Narukami", the game is called Narugami Gakuen
Read 428 Shibuya Scramble now
This game had such kino characters. I can't name a character I disliked it.
The long hair ecogay is annoying, the cop is boring.
The main cop? yea, ok, that's true. He was a little generic.
>Long hair ecogay
Who?
Dark Souls 2, and I love it.
It's time to come home
whats the appeal>?
any 2d vn that doesn't reuse any art?
what in the frick does reusing art mean
like having character sprites and background images appear more than once.
have you ever considered asking a non-stupid question instead
stop relying if you're unaware of any examples.
there are no examples and you are fricking insane if you think anyone would ever create a vn where each asset is used one time only
this. It's the benefit of VN structure, you can use different still images in different areas.
doesn't seem insane to me. it happens in manga and anime so what is stopping it from happening in visual novels? I understand it would require a higher budget but it's not outlandish to think there's been one high budget or even a lower budget passion project that has done it
>doesn't seem insane to me
this means you are also insane
godspeed anon
Why would they ever do that though?
The tools of VN promote reusing stuff.
read quartett and other littewitch games.
you are just new to vns if you don't know about littlewitch doing this
little witch romanesque? it has to.
that one reuses sprites but not all their games do
Oh.
I mean, you're right but isn't that because most others DON'T have sprites and they only have CG?
Still, you'd be right.
>littlewitch romanesque
Is that VN worth reading?
It's fricking great. It's a very unique VN. I almost wouldn't call it that as its heavy in gameplay.
I actually kinda wanna replay it.
Worth a try. You'll realize if you like it or not quick enough.
the Only Event CGs tag is what you're looking for
If that's what you want read School Days. It's basically an anime.
Unironically Kamige
Maggot baits is better.
That's more intense but I don't think it's better.
i just finished reading higurashi, should i read umineko or tsukihime next
Go read Raging Loop
Why is RL so popular with chinks? Most of the fan-content i find of it is in chinese.
Because there is a full Let's play playthrough on bilibili which has a lots of views
Should I buy the ace attorney trilogy in steam ? Or should I pirate it?
Worth paying.
The only issue is with the HD collection is that the shitty "HD" traces of the beautiful sprite art looks bad in every shot it's in.
But pirate or pay for it, you'd have a great time.
I trusted my gut feeling when I picked this series, and it was the right decision
>the point of VNs is...
If ever17 is so good then why does nobody ever discuss the story or characters? Eveytime its brought up its only so autists recommend it to newbies.
because there is little room for discussion since little is left to the imagination in it, and it's also 20 years old so most of the interest has fizzled out
i sure hope you realize this and are just pretending
It's old as frick, and people do discuss the characters. Issue is, we can't spoil it for others.
It's not a long game also probably prevents it from being discussed.
Because Ever17 is fricking trash.. horrible character designs, meh music and very very forgettable story and twist.
I'd recommend Remember11, it's 5x deeper than Ever17 shit, the ONLY drawback is that it's kinda incomplete, but you can read a certain website that explains everything after you finish the game to connect the dots. Still a mindfrick of a VN, a 9/10
Because the most the game has left for discussion is
>who kicked the fricking can?
As the other anon said, it's better to play remember 11 if you want to play anything out of the 3 because of how much ever 17 recycles content and is overall kinda bland in a bland uninteresting setting.
doesn't r11 have no ending?
it was originally intended to have a more elaborate ending but what is there is extremely competent
yeah what he said
i
t could have been an absolute masterpiece, but it seems like they just cut off the last few hour or hours, and it could have been an easy 10/10 perfection of a visual novel.
What a serious mega shame about that. Even tho it doesnt have a real ending, the journey to get there is excellent
Its the grandfather of sci-fi VN's, discussing it would be spoilers as theres frickton of concepts and ideas behind it from cloning to time travel
>Its the grandfather of sci-fi VN's
that'd be YU-NO
I JUST finished AI Somnium last night. Man , Date is such a hilarious based pervert and a chad.
Decent plot twists, but not the best i've seen in a VN, and that ending scene was completely cringekino lol.
Is Nirvana the sequel as good if not better than AI Somnium? I doubt it'll be as funny without Date
You see date a lot in nirvana
>that ending scene was completely cringekino lol.
Spot on. Cringy but also good.
AI2 is a big step down but worth trying out. There's a pervert comedic relief in it so don't worry. It has its humorous moments.
Thanks v/ros, i guess i'll check it out soon. Shame the story isn't as good, but I kinda expect that from a sequel..
It was worth it but makes me worry about the third game.
The third game is probably going to be pretty bad. Author is fighting with shitposters on twitter and posting bad sarte quotes that even heidigger called him an idiot for, e.g. fricking up the literal meaning of existence and essence just to suit a new theory
AI2 was nice, not as good as AI though. Would definitely recommend it if you liked the original.
Still missing Takumi for some reason
>Haru - God tier
Heh.. literally.
>troony crossdressing gay same tier as based fat chad
Shit list
Unironically lower the score because the VN decided to pair Haru up with that little shit at the end
triggered
He's a weirdo but he's pretty cool.
>pair up with Haru
Nah, I don't accept the true ending. There's a Haru ending and I consider that the real ending.
The troony kid was an autist, but his keenness put me on edge throughout the game. Not a bad character.
>Nosato that low
What's that hand gesture trying to convey?
Power stance
Would Nosato have killed if he had been chosen as the wolf?
Him and Hashimoto are the only ones I can imagine just not doing it.
He'd be easily gaslit into doing it for his shrine waifu. He just wouldn't be the leader, would need Haruaki/Chiemi/Old Man etc to do it.
>not doing it
Only Kanzo and Takumi wouldn't do it. Hashimoto isn't averse to killing innocents over being killed, that's why he's so dangerous. He'll burn through half the village to smoke you out, he'll just do it deliberately rather than in a half-arsed trying-to-play-nice way that usually results in way more deaths.
Swap Haru with Hashimoto and put both Kiyonosuke and Hisako next to Chiemi.
How do you screw up like this?
>Moving Haru anywhere from #1
Just move Hashimoto up if you must
>moving up Hisako
Why?
>Just move Hashimoto up if you must
Haru wasn't good, Haruaki's villain speech made no sense, M*jina talks like a moron, and Hashimoto has no rivals in this game. He's the true horror.
>moving up Hisako
>Why?
She was the perfect touch of normalcy, and my main ship. She's a normal woman with good sense and real expertise in a subject. You could have a long conversation with her about whatever and come out better for it. Oribe being hinted as her ship and Shin'nai going C'thulhu on her pissed me off to no end
PLAY REVELATION MODE, DUMMY
>Haru wasn't good
What, she's great.
Oh, it's because you like normal boring women.
Well, at least it's realistic to happen to you in real life....
>What, she's great.
Great how?
>Oh, it's because you like normal boring women.
Ever so sorry, I fell for one of the two women in this game able (and willing) to hold up her end of a conversation. "Boring".
She's a sweetheart once she gets to know you and her badger personality is so ... mysterious and dominating. The confidence is so sexy.
>boring
Just in comparison to the rest. She's a normie. I don't mind, she's fine.
Im not going to play this shitty game just to see some pointless cameos to Raging Loop
It's not really a sequel, the goat girl shows up but thats pretty much it.
Fixing Rikako is the only fun in this game. Chiemi fricking suck like she's a clone of Mion with Rena moments. The other girl is barely developed as you date her wolf spirit possesing her while the girl cuck you with the troony boy
Are you sure you playing this game? You really frick up everything in your post.
You even called it a wolf spirit.
Oh i forgot she was a badger. The story was fricking moronic anyway. I forgot it about month later
You probably should have spent more time reading it. Haru had a whole plotline developing herself.
Story was insanely exciting till its end.
No it wasn't you stupid frick. Last chapter was an autistic slog, might as well compare it to Corpse Factory
>till its end
Yes, no one will debate the ending was shit.
>compare it to Corpse factory
Jesus, you're just proving you have bad taste.
>Fixing Rikako is the only fun in this game.
Kiyonosuke's extra story?
>The other girl is barely developed as you date her wolf spirit possesing her while the girl cuck you with the troony boy
Anon, she's a literal child. She was out of the running before the game started.
i like her game and muramasa
she is the ideal girl
>Homura spends a long time trapped in a loop
>becomes a witch in the sequel
Rlly makes u think
what's a good vn to read to learn japanese? I'd imagine it would need to be one with detailed art to show you what is going on. allows for playback of each sentence one by one. if possible one that lets you copy paste text so you can search what it means if you can't figure it out
i want to say aokana but it's a pain in the ass to texthook
read this https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSoafwp4Ig2hqG1n_vH2WP2QFMPeWD08fo4k-jfGceMmDDDRdFSbkAQyMpV_mbhFaIHuSmrOC69mWTi/pub
the most important advice in this is to play games you actually like, even when you have lesser gains at least you're actually fricking enjoying the game
What the RL developers doing now? The game came out in 2015 and after that they have made only 2 other VNs I think. Is there a sequel or some new VN under works?
None of their other VNs seen to be at the quality of raging loop. They have one new VN with the same writer as RL under development.
I didn't expect anything going into that route, but it became one of my favorites
Ok you had all your autistic fun, now we mention ACTUAL great VN's.
what's this
Oh, it's a very famous VN that Ganker and Ganker used to talk about a lot.
I keep forgetting its name.
>This is the state of Ganker now
i am sorry
Don't be. Get educated. The VN is called ユメミルクスリ
it's fricking written on it
I didn't expand it, because I've played it and knew it from the thumbnail.
Yume Miru Kusuri: A Drug That Makes You Dream
Eroge written by someone who really inspired to write serious teen drama romances so you will get a lot of coom scenes mixed with feels
thanks
And heres the second best game, the one that completely explore the "man turn into a woman" for perversive scenarios without dwelling into any of that troony shit. It has like 15 endings too
I'm looking for good schizo VNs recommendations, can anyone help? I've played most mainstream stuff.
This VN made me want to become a better person when I was younger, sadly I'm still here.
Subahibi?
He said he played mainstream stuff
Try Sayonara wo Oshiete
Thanks I'll check it out, would you say the denpa genre is basically what we would consider schizo stories?
狂気 maybe the tag you are looking for if your are talking about atmospheric schizo stories
Kusarihime is one of the favorite of mine but I am not aware of any translation
If you are just talking about schizo MC
Out of the recent releases AI2 had one
Yea, I told another anon the same. AI2 got it.
Time to shill ARCHANGEL:NEMESIS here, really want Ganker to talk about this more.
>Lyla Perry [b.1991] is a queer identified transgender woman and digital shaman who lives in Los Angeles. Her paintings are investigations into paredolia as apart of a religious experience or transverberation.
lol? why would I play that trash
https://vndb.org/s25687
Because it's a schizo game
Great VN.
Same
Can someone please explain what the frick was up with the ending of Euphoria? It honestly feels like there's supposed to be more after this, it doesn't feel like an ending at all.
It's the good ending! They need a canon ending where Nemu is with you and good. As well as explaining all the shit.
>Doesn't feel like an ending
Hm, I don't recall much else.
>ywn
I never even got started on that game after I bought it...
It's a 3 hours game
what's the best version of the original steins;gate vn there are too many different versions I have no idea what to get
not Elite that's for sure
The one on Steam
>different versions
What.
what...
There are different versions of it?!
Eh, half of that shit is the same or just demos. Or so I hope.
Elite is the version they made to appeal to American ADHD zoomers.
Found this cool PS4 JP box art of RL, highest quality I can find, but it has that SAMPLE text. If anyone is autistic enough to edit it out it would be appreciated. I tried to but it looks like shit.
Yandex has a few different versions of it, for what it's worth.
That looks HD as frick, thanks. Next time I'll try Yandex when I'm deep diving into browsing VN art.
are there any vns where you can choose to play as any member of the cast? like there's 5 or so characters and you can play the entire game from their perspective if you want to
There is. I can't recall them.
Sort of 428: Shibuya Scramble.
But you mean the ENTIRE story from a POV?
yeah the entire story. I'm aware of ones where parts of it you get to play everyone (fruit of grisaia come to mind) but I want the full thing
I feel like there is but I'm simply blanking.
THERE HAS TO BE.
subahibi is sorta like that
is it really? I dropped it while everyone as having a sleepover together or something. every scene dragged on wayyyy too long and the ramblings weren't engaging to me at all
The first part is slow on purpose and all the ramblings are purposeful. Get to It's My Own Invention
>>I-it is shit on purpose!
I hate this shit
Nearly dropped Muv-luv for the same reason
muv-luv extra isn't shit "on purpose", it's just shit
first chapter is radically different from the rest of the game, although long scenes and ramblings never go away entirely
If you replay subahibi make sure to pick Zakuro so you can proceed to the rest of the game. I nearly dropped the game because of that dogshit first chapter, I really don't see why they included it since it has frick all to do with the rest of the game.
Maybe I should really try to bear the first chapter then.
why don't fans mod in anime visuals into vns that got adaptations? seems like it would make for the best experience
Steins;Gate Elite did exactly that and it was soulless shit
I just started ayakashibito, any thoughts on it?
any vns with the text entry style of text adventures like zork?
i don't think i can play digimon survive anymore bros
how do I stop moving on from a game after reading 1 route? I feel like I finished the game and want to play another
Do it for the girls.
best vn for going on a big adventure?
Rance if you take in the whole series.
Utawarerumono franchise
Monster Girl Quest
I'm actually binging these mystery puzzle VN hybrids or whatever you call them. I got the Danganronpa series and Nonary games on sale. It's an itch I had to scratch after playing through the AI series recently.
Also picked up Robotics Notes Elite which isn't exactly the same but I might as well mention it.
Good choices.
Danganronpa, Nonary games (don't play ZTD), Raging Loop, 428 Shibuya Scramble, Your Turn to Die, all are the same genre in a sense.
Started Gahktun, what should i expected?
raging loop was unfiltered kino, ryukishi hacks need not reply to me, only higrashi is worth a shot, RLOOP is the only visual novel that actually made me feel anything close to a thrill. OSTs are top notch too, MC is likable and a it had a good setting from start to finish, although id admit the ending is a bit rough
this plays when the MC starts doubting someone he trusted.
I damn near spoiled myself with some of those thumbnails before I finished the game
>liks Higurashi
>Likes raging loop
This is a chad.
because its actually good, liking umineko is for people who pretend they are old gays and try to fit in, it sucked monkey testicles, his only good work was higurashi.
>hates Umineko
As I said, CHAD.
Umineko had a great premise but holy frick....
That 2nd one is an absolute baller. The music was god tier.
Creeping despair was a bit spoopy. So spoopy I had to turn the game off because I felt too uneasy to focus. At the time, I was reading Raging Penis at night during a thunderstorm
>Who's Haruaki Fusaishi?
>Some poor bugger's in a pact with Rikako now
SEX
Holy frick she's so fricking flat
delicious flat chest
good VN but killed by the shitty ending
best game with pixel art? played yu-no and thought it was trash
but I loved the art
Okay i got a bike licence, dyed my hair light brown, broke up with my tulpa girlfriend and ordered a brown jacket off Amazon. What else should i do in order to Hassanmax?
Lie about your name wherever you go.
OH frick off. Its just alien shit.
Become a writer, duh.
I'm playing Gnosia
Is it SWJ shit?
They asked me if I'm non binary at the beginning, and during a loop a character stated she is non binary
Is it just a terrible translation or is it garbage?
they're literally alien races, they dont have the same concepts of gender as us. One guy wants to become a cat. Just stfu and enjoy things instead of letting them live rent free in your head
setsu said "I'm non binary"
She is human
What is this shit?
Let it go. You guys are so fricking sensitive. There's legit nothing in it to make you pee your anger.
>setsu said "I'm non binary"
I played Gnosia back when it released on Switch and I don't remember that at all. How pozzed did they make the translation after I played it?
maybe you should stop speed reading
It's on the Switch version too. They just randomly assign shit to people. Probably so that you can have Setsu who the true love of your MC be with anyone.
None of this matters. Put a little sticker over it if you must.
>It's on the Switch version too
I emulated the release version with no patches and didn't see that
I hope you pirated the game
The twitters troons demanded a relocalization and the localization decided to pander to them after the new patch
>he fell for the Gnosia meme
I'm sorry Anon.
Just finished pic related. Im not too used to VNs yet, do all or most of them spend an unnecesary amount of resources in openings/endings?
The main "party" of protagonist's portraits were only used when they were presented and at the end when reconfirming how close they are.
Did they pay for a song already existing or did they pay to create a song for an hentai vn?
>did they pay to create a song for an hentai vn?
theres an entire genre for hentai VN music, generally its called Denpa Music albeit thats a very broad category. Its probably not as expensive as you think cause the MV are usually just sliding still images and the singers are the girls they're already paying to voice the VN
This is hilarious.
its also a pretty good way to advertise hentai in Akihabara. They blare the music in the store or on the street and then you're like, "wait why is that so catchy" and walk over there.
japan is wild
Alicesoft for instance has absolute amazing music for their hentai games.
Higurashi, Umineko and Raging Loop all have bad endings that nobody wants to talk about but Raging Loop is the only one that gets cosntantly shit on it for
I wouldn't say Higurashi had a bad ending.
Raging Loop is GOD tier but its ending really is bad.
Umineko is honestly bad all throughout, not just the ending.
And actually, all 3 get shit on.
Most VN have shit endings except Muramasa
Umineko is literally the ultimate work of fiction. I'm sorry to hear of your terminal brain damage.
Absolute not. Fricking up the narrative, horrible characters, a discarded premise, and so forth.
CAN'T WAIT TO REREAD GEORGE'S DATES.
I bet you think the sea is grey
filtered
How can it be when it has among the worst endings in the world?
Insane amounts of meta
Battler survives but he's not real Battler
Ange's life just plain sucks and it keeps getting worse
Legit nothing pays off and the worst solution is the real one.
I just finished up Full Metal Muramasa. I've seen it hyped for so long and it has lived up to its kamige credentials. My only disappointment is chachamaru didn't get a fully fleshed-out route. I wish Kageaki could've donned her more. Also the h scenes in the story are short as hell, especially wtf is up with that. Such a wienertease.
Friendly reminder that if you read Raging Loop in English, you did not, by any stretch of the imagination, read the VN.
Chiemi is based and cute and I would drink beer with her all night till the sun comes up.
Agreed. Though she is probably insane by the end.
>she is probably insane by the end
she was insane at the start bro
I mostly only play otome and like Code: Realize, Collar x Malice, PotBB/AH, Hakuoki, Even If Tempest, and Norn9. What non otome romance VNs would you recommend if I wanted to try something new? Preferably something without porn.
I want to read to heart 2.
is there any fix for the resolution?
Sextoko
>threads about to die
goodbye frens
I'll see you in a better place.
