        they're games alright
but they're plagued by a few problems
        >touch controls are a terrible input scheme
        >literally no quality control at all
        >they're an advertiser's wet dream and people who play mobile games have just accepted that
the last two problems were pretty much caused by the failure of mobile platform owners in providing a service that users felt paying upfront was worth for looking at you, google

When Sony decided to think like morons like and write off the entire market and deliberately sabotage the Vita. PSP was unironically the best competition Nintendo ever had in the market and I guess everyone gave up trying by that point.

anyone can notice that a switch game (or a PC game played on a steam deck) is significantly higher quality than a mobile game on average, however, it's MUCH cheaper to own a cellphone (which most people already have) and play free shitty games on it than it is to buy a dedicated gaming device + full cost games
remember, whales are the extreme minority and most people are not wealthy

The mobile market has always, from its very inception, been almost entirely Nintendo.
Handhelds as we know them started with the Gameboy, and not once since the mid 80s was their leadership challenged.
Every other handheld made by other companies has only ever achieved the feat of not selling anywhere as much. And that's coming from someone who LOVES his PSP.

Phones killed mobile gaming though. The only way it gets to keep existing is because the Switch blurred the lines between console and handheld. Something like the 3DS could never exist today, nobody would buy it. Yes, even if it were Nintendo.

I miss the PSP so much. Sony should unmoron themselves and bring back PSP 2 or some shit. Tekken, Genshit, VNs, anime games.

      >Sony should unmoron themselves
after they moved their headquarters to California and released a console that's still in paper launch phase almost a full 2 years later?

Since the Gameboy, the only time they've had real competition is with the PSP.
