Maybe if the dev put a fucking proper ending first, or not nerfing triangles, elevation, and trusters on every single patch, or making 100kg bombs have practical use over jet bombers, we wouldn't have this problem in the first place.

We need a sequel. Or a DLC. We need new content.

What's the state of highfleet mods? I had a game when I was a kid called starship tycoon that could be copied in high fleet to make Gerat Trucking Simulator

i want to love this game, i really do. the interface and style alone makes this game appealing.
but by god, i HATE the 2D twitch shooter gameplay.
this game would be a 10/10 if the combat was more like low graphics "war on the sea" instead of that bullet hell bullshit.

Have you tried using more missiles/aircraft to minimize dogfighting or tried different types of ship to see if it makes the dogfights more palatable? The ship editor gives you enough freedom to choose anything between dogfights being a dodge based bullet hell like you get with the lightning vs parking a rocket pillbox at the bottom of the screen and deleting ships with big guns

Fighting in highfleet is a skill you have to learn, I suggest grinding fights in the shipworks first so you're not investing time into a campaign that gets rekt at the first strike group
Also protip all you need are 100mm prox fuze for shooting down missiles and 130mm HE, everything else is a psyop by gas mask wearing ammo peddlers

I think the issue with getting good at Highfleet combat is that you just don't know what you don't know. I get that part of learning any combat system is partially trial and error, but it seems like there are paradigms of combat totally outside of the ships they give you at the start that are also way more ideal. I'll give the missile and aircraft ideas a shot in the ship builder, I had a feeling you eventually want to have a fleet entirely made up of custom ships anyway.

I wish I was better at this game. I love the premise, the setting, the style, but man I eat total shit when it comes to the combat. Barely got out of the tutorial and already struggling to keep up with combat.

This is the game that made me realize i'm fucking retarded as all hell. I can't figure anything out and just get exploded like two flights after getting the bible relic. No matter how sure i an that i'm being sneaky or how prepared I think i am. I'll just get shot down by missiles or something.

Are you keeping the radar off and only sending one or two small ships to liberate cities so they can do a silent strike? These are the two most common ways to summon the 1000km/h M icon of friendship and understanding to your fleet. Here's a relevant tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk1Z_0VDey4

You can also just send a lightning with prox ammo ahead of your other ships to shoot down incoming missiles and you won't have to worry about the AI fluoride staring at the cruise missile while you're stuck controlling a skylark or something

You'll have to make peace with stock or modified stock ships eventually as the ships you can recruit throughout the campaign are all stock. Gitting gud with custom designs will help you git gud with stock ships, and there's some stock designs that are near perfect as is such as the skylark archangel and lightning

Everything in your post is gibbersih to me. I just wanted to fly funny ships and do the pew pews. I literally (not figuratively) cannot wrap my head around all the non-direct-combat subsystems. I read everything I could at the time, and did everything "right" and I still died the same way. Blergh. Cool looking game full of soul. It's just literally impossible for retards like me to play.

That's because you want to pew pew, direct battles are secondary element and should be avoided if possible. Its a stealth bomber simulator buddy, stick to ship building mode you can fight as many dudes as you want there.

its very fun dealing with logistics anon, specially when you learn how to use planes, they are essentially better at striking targets than any other flying mech.

Sneaky breeking is not logistics. Splinter Cell is not a logistics game.

No, but silent striking a path to the next fuel depot for your slow flagship while avoiding or taking out aircraft carriers and missile platforms is. Also you need to make sure you take out convoys for money to buy all that fuel and ammo you spend.

              >given enemy's direction and speed, launch scout planes, attack planes and fast moving vessels ahead while preparing to launch cruise missiles at the interception point
              >some of the missiles hit the bewildered strike group
              >proceed to send in jets equipped with bombs and rockets

                >Smoke the rest of the fleet with a small frigate and my dedicated strike fleet swatter
