>trade
see that's the problem: tpci discourages trading because you can't know for sure where that pokemon came from, and you have no way of checking it yourself
No one is (incorrectly) hacking Pokemon that can be bred. It's Legendaries and Pokemon not native to SV. Anything that can come from an egg doesn't need a Home Tracker, which was how the people at Worlds got caught.

Home tracker?
Anonymous
There is a new id added to all Pokemon, the Home Tracker. It is a unique number assigned to a Pokemon by the Home servers the first time a Pokemon is sent to home. The number is a function of which game the Pokemon first arrived from. Discord trade bots null out the Home Tracker when you trade with them; presumably to prevent errors with duped Pokemon or whatever with the Home servers. Nintendo doesn't really crack down on trade bots, but if players were causing data loss and crashing of the official Home servers then Nintendo would probably get a lot more stringent. Regardless, a Pokemon you trade for from a bot, or a Pokemon you trade to a bot and trade back, will have a 0 for its Home Tracker, which is fine and won't break anything. It can still go online in Battle Stadium, and even be uploaded to Home, where it will be assigned a new Home Tracker. The players at Worlds that were caught hacking, had Pokemon not native to SV with 0'd Home Trackers. The only way to get a PLA Pokemon (Ursaluna, Enamorus) or an SS Legendary (Urshifu, Regieleki) legally in SV would have been sending one through Home. With that in mind, any PLA or SS Legendary WITHOUT a valid Home Tracker in SV would have been obviously hacked. That said, the lack of a Home Tracker obviously doesn't imply a hacked Pokemon. If you catch a Pokemon in SV, never upload it to Home, and then go to a tournament with it, it's legit. What this means is any Pokemon that can be caught/bred in SV can just have a 0 Home Tracker and still be legal. Because of this it's really easy to hack those Pokemon, as you just gen them in PkHex and trade with a discord bot.
>Is the strawman right
Regardless, fuck competitive Pokémon and fuck competitive Pokémon players. Nintendo or TPC should put in place a Battle Factory format.
Stop cheating.
Yes, I will ignore the VGC worlds winner. He won because he's a winner.
Yes, I will ignore the sudden death matches.
Yes, I will ignore the constant crashes and the handling of matches.
If you want to trade with someone, just trade with someone you trust. If the trader is a hacker, you get what you deserve.
If you can't afford $60 for one of the best Pokemon, you're just poor and not worthy of it.
Just stop cheating.
Raise your Pokemon with love and care, not in a test tube.
Absolutely. If you want to shut down the fags that especially go "b-but you should be raising your pokemon with love and care!!", ask them about the thousands of failed babies they released and the incest they forced them to do at the day-care.
>Raise your Pokemon with love and care, not in a test tube.
Nobody in the pro scene does this. Not even the ones that use legitimate pokemon. They delegate catching and raising mons to other people in their team.
>male and female censored >still reffers to people as guy/girl
I wish that all these disingenuously retardeded enbies and transetters were forcibly sterilized just like the mentally-ill freaks they're idolizing. . .
>what if I was traded a genned mon without knowing
You'd know? Because it has perfect stats in everything? >what if the pokemon I need comes from a game I don't have?
Trading? Buy that game? >what if I don't have the money
That's cool because you won't be able to afford the plane tickets and accommodation to play competitive events either. And if you don't play these events you don't need a perfect team. >isn't that... a little unfair?
It's not unfair if you don't cheat.
This, it's such a retarded argument. The money you have to pay for an extra video game is a fucking drop in the bucket compared to all the other expenses this tournament has. Especially this year when it was in fucking Japan, where none of the crying pissbabies live.
>what if I was traded a genned mon without knowing

>>you need a perfect team to compete in high-tier competitive events
Actually he didn't say that. And he wouldn't say that. Because that's not true. Which is why he said the opposite thing, actually.
>You'd know? Because it has perfect stats in everything?
This isn't even the mark of a hacked mon.
I know I've sent off 5 and even 6 IV mons I've hatched over the years.
The real tell is getting a 6IV *SHINY*.
Which is always what they hack in too.
They can't not hack themselves the meaningless shiny with perfect IVs.
If people talked to you in real life, you wouldn’t be so desperate for attention on an anonymous imageboard. If you’re gonna troll, don’t act insecure about it, and admit you’re a loser who needs to be hated to feel alive, because you don’t have the skills or charisma to be loved by others
Even without a rusty bottlecap the difference is meaningless. >reset until 0 speed IV
That's the only legitimate complaint now. >but muh 0 atk IVs for foul play
Something so niche that it literally never happens. It certainly didn't happen at all in this gen's entire tournaments.
There should still be a 0IV bottle cap for Trick Room...
But that's literally the only thing now that takes any amount of effort or time to deal with.
>What if I don't have the money?
What if I don't have time every day to learn the meta and ladder vgc?
What if I don't have a passport?
What if I can't take time off work to fuck off to Japan?
What if I'm physically incapable of making a ten hour+ flight?
What if the other players are better than me at the game because they had more free time and access to experienced coaches/practice partners?
Isn't that... a little unfair????
The homosexuals making this point; the actually, truly degenerate on the like of twitter, and not the shitposters here will NEVER accept this point. They cannot, it is completely anathema to how they engage with the competitive game.
If a weller-managed life would give you a leg-up in competition, then that would mean that it is good, competitively, of you to manage your life and get it in a position where you are allowed to better prepare for the competition. And this means that being able to get yourself INTO that position where you can best practice and compete and aim to win is also a skill that applies within the competition.
This CANNOT be true, you see. For these people play competitive pokemon to ESCAPE how horrible they lead their lives. If it WAS true, that would mean the determining purpose of the playing competitive would actually become their biggest detriment to success.
So the game HAS to be fair at all stages. Every and any one who plays the game no matter their circumstances HAS to be equal; regardless of the stupidity of the idea. So that's why they desperately keep making up these hasty excuses.
based schizo
you're right, if they realised not being a fucking weirdo would be a benefit to winning, they couldn't use 4+ hours of showdown as a coping mechanism anymore
pokemon is either a competitive game where everyone competes on a level playing field with the same resources - or it's a collecting game where every monster is unique and special
i don't think TCGs are the route you want to go down anon, those always end up being either so diluted that card rareness doesn't matter anymore, or endless bottomless pits of flushing money for anyone who wants to be competitive
Pokémon has a such dumb barrier of entry compared to other esports. Imagine needing to buy a fighting game to import a character to compete. IVs are tarded too. A few gens ago you naggers would be against mints and capsules
Shouldn’t competitive battling be about strategy and creating intricate synergy between moves and abilities? And not just who has more time and money to grind for the best stats?
it should but people who have already sunk hours upon hours into "training" their pokemon have an incentive to come up with ways to cope and justify how that's actually necessary or they'll have to come to terms with the fact that all that time they spent grinding was useless
>Maybe one day they'll equalize IV's in battles like they do with levels.
I wouldn't mind if they did this, honestly. Like, yeah, you'd lose out on some TR shenanigans, but we already lost that with level normalization (you used to run things like level 49 Pokemon to underspeed speed ties in trick room). If IVs were all set to 31 in battle then every battle stat would be fully editable, in game, with items, meaning there would be very little reason to cheat.
The intention of the game is to actually raise these mons that's why these mechanics exist in the first place. Otherwise all pokemon would just have the same stats. It's just people ignoring what made the game more immersive and was a fun idea to make each pokemon feel unique and streamline it into autistic competition min max bull shit. They don't want to play the actual game, just the battle part. Play smogon let the kids enjoy the actual game
Because you could be wrong, and could have falsely accused someone of hacking in a mon, when in reality, they legitimately grinded a long time to get it, and you're simply jealous that you weren’t lucky enough to get a mon that good yourself. You need to prove you can tell the difference if you want people to trust in your judgment.
i reply with two picture of "her", the first pre-transition and the other post-trans and ask her which one was bred naturally and which one was "genned"

I genuinely cannot think of another game that expects you to play so much side content, plus the absolutely laughable idea that you should trade to yourself, meaning you have to buy every game+DLC plus two Switches, because that's the only way that you'll be 100% sure a traded Pokemon wasn't hacked. Whether you like it or think it's good or not, the rarity of some mons is an intentional part of the """"competitive"""" aspect of this game aimed mainly at eight year old Japanese kids.
If you can't afford a game you need a pokemon from you got bigger problems in your life than pokemon
Having to buy multiple of the same game is retarded
You're a retarded Pokemon fan and will forever be one so you will still buy it even if you complain.
But I don’t, you retard
buying a full $60 game for one (1) (a single) pokemon is genuinely retarded
It's too bad you can't just trade for one with someone you trust or anything

see that's the problem: tpci discourages trading because you can't know for sure where that pokemon came from, and you have no way of checking it yourself
So some people have these things called "friends" that they can ask for trades with and trust they won't give them hacked mons that get them dqd
Just breed the traded mon

Adult actually value money
Retarded logic. I can afford to hire someone to shit in my garden but that doesn't make it a good or sensible thing to do or worth spending money on.
Fact of the matter is that an aspect of a competitive scene should not be locked behind buying and finishing an entire other game
Cheaters welcome!

They should be looking at all the hacking in comp as a sign that fucking no one likes team building and do something about that instead. You shouldn't be designing these games so that it's overwhelmingly more desirable to cheat and then complain about everyone cheating.

The amount after the fact doesn't even beat the money you'd make from a part time job at this point. I genuinely cannot think of another game that expects you to play so much side content, plus the absolutely laughable idea that you should trade to yourself, meaning you have to buy every game+DLC plus two Switches, because that's the only way that you'll be 100% sure a traded Pokemon wasn't hacked. That's insane. Almost every other game's competitive point of entry is just the game+DLC, the cost of internet, and the console you're playing on. And if you're actually competing for the top place on the planet they make the prize actually worth it, or at least compensate your plane ticket. Genuinely, if you can't make a living off of this why would anyone take it seriously, you'll just have an actual job you focus on instead.
If TPCI is building a circus they shouldn't be shocked the only people showing up to perform are clowns.
>Imagine spending $600+ studying, breeding, and resetting for hours on end

They don't get HOME trackers attached, which will raise flags if they were to be checked for an official tournament. Otherwise, you'll probably be fine.
Whether you like it or think it's good or not, the rarity of some mons is an intentional part of the """"competitive"""" aspect of this game aimed mainly at eight year old Japanese kids.
