NTA but I had the N64 version as a kid and never thought much over it until I play the Dreamcast version at my uncles house. N64 hardware really holds this game back.
Be honest.
the n64 version is the hardest, by far.
For one there is pretty heavy input delay.
Secondly the game feels MUCH faster on n64 for some odd reason, if you play on the n64 and then switch to the dreamcast it will feel like ur going at half speed there.
Also n64 has framerate issues.
artificial difficulty doesn't count, by that definition the hardest version by far is that of the pc version ran on a raspberry pi streamed from australia while using a kinect as the sole input device
This is the only PR game I have played, so it's all I have as a frame of reference for this topic. However, it was fun trying to unlock all of the racers and playing all the courses. I remember once I unlocked sebulba the game was too easy
>the racing was fast but not stupid fast that you need actual jedi reflexes to even understand whats going on >different pods with different characteristics >good amount of circuits and even 2 version of the OG race and some had multiple paths >it had the options to buy either new parts with average performance or used parts with better stats >beating the game gives you sebulba's pod with the ability to spit fire >all that from a plot device in a movie
Yea it was actually good.
Only one way to find out.
it was absolutely incredible as a kid
as an adult it’s disappointingly easy and the “remaster” not having online multiplayer was the biggest letdown
>disappointingly easy
I still have trouble on the track where the race is basically forfeit if you fall off the side.
You can finish the game in a day. Boosting makes everything trivial.
Yes
>Was it really as good as people say?
Yes. It still remains one of the best racing games ever IMO.
God tier mechanics for jumping, boosting and drifting.
yes, just don't play/emulate the n64 version unless you hate yourself
What's wrong with the n64 version?

it is the single best racing game ever made
No. Play Rebel Assault instead.
its fun
how come nobody ever talks about the sequel?
it would be nice if they made a sequel, but alas they never did
I like this but it feels so slow. I mean, really slow and not podracer insane fast.

>20 years old game has a better sense of speed than most modern racing games
how
You can buy it on steam right now and play it
The old arcades with the whole pod were cool tho
Anyone here play the GBC version?
its a great game, lots of soul for sure. fun racing mechanics and tracks

do people really find that hot?
This game kicked my ass as a kid, couldn't make it past the 3rd race.
still amazing for sure, one of the best racers of the era. absolutely love the sense of speed and the ability to upgrade your pod racer
Loved it as a kid, but Wipeout was better.
It's my favorite scifi racer of all times.
Loved it on N64, still love it.
