2013 was so bad that Ganker never recovered from the endless tidal wave of shit and is still mind broken a decade later.
2013: Metal Gear Rising, Injustice, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Arkham Origins, Dota 2, Dragon's Crown, The Last Of Us, Payday 2, Saints Row 4, GTA 5, Shadow Warrior, Assassin's Creed 4, Battlefield 4, Outlast, Path of Exile, Warframe.

I don't think so tbh.
2013-2020 is a second Renaissance for me. Games get good again.

>absolutely not notable in the sphere of jrpgs
Because it didn't get localized until decades later. It is up there in the top selling SNES games. Easily best console RPG that generation, with maybe Shadowrun (Genesis) comparable in quality. >X-Wing, Starfox, Syndicate, The Legend of Zelda Links Awakening, Sonic CD, Myst, Mortal Kombat II, Castlevania Rondo of Blood, NBA Jam, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, The Punisher, Ecco the Dolphin, Shinobi III Return of the Ninja Master, The Haunting Starring Polterguy, Night Slashers, Jungle Strike, Shadowrun (SNES), Gunstar Heroes, Rocket Knight Adventures, Thunder Force IV
Seems like a good year to me.
>not notable in the sphere of jrpgs
Considering that year also gave us Secret of Mana, Phantasy Star IV, Lunar Silver Star, Illusion of Gaia, Shadowrun, Shining Force 2, Lufia, Ogre Battle, Breath of Fire, Ys 4, Dark Wizard, Albert Odyssey 7th saga.
1993 had Rondo of Blood, Links Awakening, Star Fox, Punisher arcade, Daytona USA as well. If anything the first bad year for video games was probably 2012 if we dont count before 1980.
>Doom
MobyGames lists over 50 games higher rated than Doom, over a 100 if you count user scores and not just scores by game journalists. Obviously that's a lot of contrarian opinions, but to say Doom specifically was the only notable release in '93 is retarded.
I spent the whole year playing Battle City, Contra and Battletoads with a childhood friend of mine (it was his NES, I didn't have anything).
In late 1994 I got my first PC and have to say I enjoyed quite a few PC games from 1993. Mortal Kombat, The Lost Vikings, PoP2, Lotus (damn, I can hear the music in my mind now) were great. And maybe two or three years later I discovered more nice stuff from 1993 like Betrayal at Krondor, Gabriel Knight, MoO etc.

The "freedom" the disc format allowed for also encouraged devs to add as much bloat and superfluous tat as possible. The death of arcades and the arcade format also led to this. lol, this nigga...
Mega Man X solos the entire list.
A rare, actual 10/10 game that has not aged in the slightest.
X is worse than NES Megamen. Sorry, not sorry.
That's not your real opinion.
You know what ages games? Playing new ones.
And new games do not diminish Mega Man X1, is what I'm saying.
Wtf is this retarded statement even supposed to imply?
Don't forget Rondo of Blood and Shinobi 3.
Good list. Number one omission is Secret of Mana.
MK2 is the only good one though
Street fighter was just ok in comparison. I know a few people will disagree with that
