Most people say that this game is boring and has artificial difficult maxed

      > artificial difficult
"its too hard for me" =/= artificial difficulty.
The game devs were too optimistic about player abilities and had you deal with a number of enemies at a time. your average gamer cant multi task to save his life so thats the "artificial difficulty". If you could multi task and develop strategy and tactics on the fly it wasnt so bad.

Its so funny i was watching this souls enjoyer play the game to see what his problem was and he was killing every boss the first try but anytime he had to deal with more than 1 enemy at a time he would have a panic attack and die then blame the game, its like his brain shut off.

A lot of players were filtered by assuming that the game was meant to be played like Dark Souls. Ranged combat is an integral part of the game and available to every build, so a lot of combat encounters have enemies that you should ideally pick off with ranged either before or while engaging other enemies. Parrying is also universal, and quite useful for specific enemies.

I think the encounter / level design in FromSoft games started to suffer with DS3, and with a few exceptions it tends to ask less of the player. It's easier to bail yourself out in Elden Ring, especially. The issue is that there's not a lot of enemy variety in LotF, so a lot of encounters, however well-designed, devolve into
        >1-3 melee enemies
        >1-2 ranged enemies
The snow area with the archers being nothing but this for its first half.

I thought they did a good job making the world interesting to traverse with lots of shortcuts and hidden paths. Combat and bosses are pretty meh, in a lot of ways I consider it an inverse to Lies of P which excelled in combat/bosses but fumbled on world design.

I'm ambivalent about the open world design because it was designed for a game without fast travel. That's why multiple interstitial segments take you back to not-Firelink Shrine, whereas Dark Souls' only uses shortcuts to return to Firelink. At some point, they added fast travel and it made these interstitial segments feel pointless. If you play the game without fast travel, they're insanely useful.

The level design is still great, though. I like the encounters, despite the lack of enemy variety.

Great, although there's a lack of cloth armor / robes. But if you want plate and mail armor, it has that in spades and it can all be recolored to match because of the dye system.

      This pretty much.

Yes. It's wildly over-hated for reasons I don't really understand. The world design is my favorite thing about it, while the mechanics are good, but not great. Really reminds me of Demon's Souls in terms of its level design.

      >tfw getting constantly invaded by Black folk with this build
      >tfw shitting on them whenever I don't get one-shot through a wall
They've claimed to have fixed the netcode /scaling twice, but I haven't played since then. I invaded a bit with a pure DEX (agility?) build and it was comically easy compared to Elden Ring / DS3. The game gives hosts absolutely no advantages when invaded, it's hilarious.

I really tried to like it. But it just felt tedious from start to finish. I dig the aesthetic, the story is ok-ish, but the build diversity isn't there and as others have pointed out there is no sense of weight, outside of the cheap knock off cliff kills that plague you.
Shame because I dig the tinct system and hope From adopts something similar. And while I'm not a boss rush enjoyer, I do like the fact they have the online exclusive currencies as rewards. Might give it another go before Erdtree drops.
    But it's still a 6/10 for me.

      yep that describes it

The build diversity is very disappointing, because the framework is there with the weapon upgrade system. It's just that there aren't enough differences between weapons, and there aren't enough accessories (although the ones that there are are unique enough). I did a playthrough for 3/5 of the build archetypes (FAI, AGI, INF) and that was enough for me. There's also an issue with pure STR / AGI builds being inferior to hybrid builds in pretty much all circumstances, unless that has been changed.

A positive, however, is that ranged is completely viable as its own play style / build. My AGI build was primarily a bow build and it was really fun. Crossbows are apparently broken as frick with the right build as well.

it had a rocky launch but I really enjoyed my time with it, I'd say it's one of the better souls clones; just don't expect Fromsoft quality because nobody can do souls like Fromsoft does.

I really hated how badly people wanted this game to fail when it was released. It's only now, about 7 months later, that we're able to actually talk about it like ITT without someone chimping out and willing it into their personal TORtanic.

      Enjoy, or don't

        >i really hated how everyone pointed out and complained about the game breaking bugs, poor framerate, umbral crashes, overpowered hammers, overpowered 1st boss weapon, skating while attacking and constantly falling off cliffs, autosave stuttering that went on for MONTHS, time exclusive gear for the sweet fomo addicts, online currency which is distributed in trinkles and the list goes on.
this game is a turd that wants to lure you in and steal your money. Notice how they need to advertise it as "1.5 VERSION ITS GOOD NOW BELIEVE US"? do you remember any other soulslike which had to resort to this kind of marketing? ye me neither.

          >game receiving months of patches is a bad thing
It's not like it was unfinished on release. It was a perfectly decent game with performance problems because it was ported from UE4 to UE5 mid-development. The only thing that was fundamentally fricked was the netcode.

I didn't even realize they released a boss rush mode

What's interesting is that the team behind this game is an entirely new one assembled by the publisher, it isn't the team behind the original LotF. You can definitely feel their inexperience in the final product, but also their willingness to try new things despite being so overtly derivative.

Atmosphere, game design, level design, ...

I played both Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen shortly after release, and they're both at the exact same level for me, but for different reasons of course.

I can also tell you right now I had literally ZERO technical issues with this game, and I played it a few days after release.
So I'm pretty sure all those hordes of reviewers and influencers were paid off or something, it's a complete mystery to me what the frick they were even talking about.

I never even had any problem with the forward momentum. I'm guessing it was specific to a certain class of weapon that I never happened to use.
Or it's just made up bullshit, I dunno.

      >I can also tell you right now I had literally ZERO technical issues with this game, and I played it a few days after release.
I had my save corrupted 3 times due to BSODs related to Nvidia driver errors, and I still recommend it to be people because I enjoyed it regardless. I just set up a script to back up my save every time I launched the game.
      >I never even had any problem with the forward momentum
Some weapons are perfectly fine in this regard, like claws, polearms, and greathammers / greataxes. It's mostly short weapons that slide around like crazy. I really like the polearm moveset.

It's kind of like Dark Souls 2 where the levels are designed with a lot of gank squads so you either slowly kite them one by one or use a weapon with wide sweeping moveset to deal with them like the infamous light beam sword that everyone used when the game was released.
