>Created an entire genre
>Ingenious multiplayer where players can fuck up your world, vice versa and you can change you/other's worlds (world tendency)
>Intricate, explorative level design (for a PS3 game)
There are so many unique unconventional things this game did that would be later polished in Dark Souls. Even the original is still very playable and functions miles ahead of King's Field which only came out a few years ago when this game came out. How does it feel FromSoft will NEVER EVER EVER make this risk ever again since they're basically a triple A studio now and have Sony's infinite money?
I’m playing the remake. Should I get PlayStation Plus for the online features?
Honestly, I think it's a time and a place kind of thing. I'm unsure how active it is console, and it really depends if you're the type of person who likes invasions/summons/help etc.
I remember one of the unique things about this series were you'd just be playing, see a red outline and think it was the computer but then realise "wait, it's another player? What the fuck??" To me that was the defining feature of this series and I'm so sad it was nerfed in Elden Ring
It would be cool to be able to see notes tbh but not $100 cool. Fuck XBOX Live.
>unique unconventional things
>unique things
>new, unique and original.
>unique gameplay no other games before it had
>Souls games have unique gameplay
Play original, moron
Found an even bigger retard
The game was never in dev hell, maybe read up about its development before making shit up
The pre-Miyazaki DeS project had nothing in common with the actual DeS we got
It wasn't even a medieval setting but scifi with assault rifles, retard
So no, this actual DeS was never in dev hell, development went extremely smoothly, and you are genuinely a subhuman shitskin idiot if you think it's some stitched together asset flip, literally the only reused asset is Vanguard demon and that's because it fit perfectly into the setting. Everything else is new, unique and original.
They literally traveled Europe to study real medieval castles to make authentic architecture for the game, and this stupid shitskin monkey thinks it's some low effort shit they struggled with.
Its a masterpiece, it's THE masterpiece. Enough of your ignorance or lies.
>DeS remake
Why would you do that to yourself, Anon?
If people are still playing it, you might want to do it so you can experience the old monk fight properly.
>remake
Yikes
I think it's an important part of the experience for a first playthrough. Afterwards you can fuck around with old monk and get his funny hat-thingy.
Don’t believe the schizos, the remake is good. The only thing worse than the original is some of the audio design and even then it’s not a huge downgrade. I replayed the original on my PS3 last week and honestly wished I had just played the remake again.
you're just gonna ignore visual design and ost that completely goes against the atmosphere and aesthetics of the original, or are you actually unable to see how tasteless that is? like, is your taste so golem-tier that it doesn't even register as worse to you?
nah its not really needed. The only place i got invaded was in my playthrough was in latria.
The old upside to the remake is the Old Monk fight. You can do it properly on emulator as well but I don’t know how reliably, how many players are trying to be summoned for old monk on RPCS3? It’s genuinely a great fight.
Give it a few years you homosexual zoomer and you will see new types of genre.
>innovative
nagger that game was a dev hell game stitched together to be finally shipped
>let‘s just add obscure lore instead of story so we can finally ship it
>let‘s add multiplayer and multiplayer rankings, maybe people will play it for the multiplayer
>let‘s add a system that is so obscure, players need multiple playthroughs to understand it and the stuff it unlocks
>let‘s tie this with the multiplayer so they are forced to play it
>let‘s just add a few checkpoints so they don‘t realize how small the game really is
It‘s good but it was just stitched together, thrown multiple things with the hope something sticks.
that game was a dev hell game stitched together to be finally shipped
the jank has always been part of the souls charm
Most great things are born by accident.
Like all of us 😀
>dev hell stitched together
that's Dark Souls 2
Demon's Souls was a
>well the people funding us seem to believe it will flop so let's experiment while we're in this deep
You're spinning around a bunch of interesting and consequential moves as a bad thing because.. why, exactly? Nothing you have said actually counters the point- that they were innovative.
>Baby's first 3D metroidvania.
>FROM was so shit at programming back then they couldn't even add a jump button or it would fuck with their game design AND code.
How the fuck is this innovative? Soulscucks are fucking deranged.
>>Baby's first 3D metroidvania.
What are the others?
actual castlevania games for starters, which were a thing since the ps2
This shit was way less like Castlevania than Demon Souls and you'd be crazy to think otherwise. PS2 Castlevania games were after the DMC/Ninja Gaiden audience.
>PS2 Castlevania games were after the DMC/Ninja Gaiden audience.
congratulations on proving you're retarded anon
then again i never expected much from a fromdrone
I played them well before any Fromsoft game and loved Curse of Darkness deeply. I begged for an extra rental from Blockbuster so I could keep unlocking stuff and leveling up my familiars.
It felt nothing like a Metroidvania. Dark Souls was the first one to hit 3D Metroidvania right.
The lies are getting more pathetic than I imagined possible
Those games suck terribly much and they are a single linear path of completely empty rooms where enemies spawn for you to fight. They are not metroidvanias.
They are like Dmc but if they forgot to put anything into the rooms or have level design.
DS1 is the only 3d metroidvania in existence.
You are thinking of DS1 and it's everyone's first 3d metroidvania, considering its the actual first one ever made
In fact, it's the only one ever made to this day
>FROM was so shit at programming back then they couldn't even add a jump button
Why do you think this wasn't a deliberate choice?
Bravo hayao
an entire genre
What genre did they create? Souls-like isn't a genre. How exactly is it innovative?
>Ingenious multiplayer
How exactly? Lots of games before had this.
>How exactly? Lots of games before had this.
please point out to me one game that plays 80% similar to souls, before DeS.
Why lie? Souls games have unique gameplay no other games before it had, so yes it's a new genre invention.
Also no, invasions were never a thing in any other games before. Sure is reddit in here, the seething fromkino haters crawl out of the woodworks on que to lie.
>Souls games have unique gameplay no other games before it had
being an action game except shit is not being unique
asinine control scheme is not a good thing either
They gave better combat and controls than any other sub genre of action games however
Thanks for outing you have a terrible taste in gameplay
>asinine control scheme is not a good thing either
yeah. i guess we should make it like DMC or NG where the camera faces in a direction where it isnt needed, or we need three specific button presses to do a dodge roll (thats almost worthless anyways).
Souls games have unique gameplay but their combat is like a toned down Monster Hunter.
No...
What?
Mh gameplay is like controlling a tank or other vehicle but they made it look like a human
You have way less control over your character in Mh
More seethe and cope from jealous haters of the undisputed kings of game dev
You need higher quality bait
You need a dictionary, facts are never bait
I bet fromsoft drones think dictionaries have the best lore
does it really qualify as bait when fromdrones are that deranged unironically?
>You have way less control over your character in Mh
Weak bait. I was a surgeon with the GS.
>armor is useless
shit game
>looking cool and aesthetics are useless
look I found npc devoid of any self
I on the other hand "an intellectual" drip until I drown
Dragons Dogma was just as innovative even if the execution is a bit clumsy
No? There were tons of open world RPGs before DD
He is right and you are the one who made themselves look retarded
The ps2 Castlevanias are Hack n slash games with no level design, they are the closest to musou games if we would look for a genre
They are not metroidvanias. DS1 is the only 3d metroidvania ever created.
No need to get upset over the reality that only Lord Miyazaki can create what Konami wishes they could.
>DS1 is the only 3d metroidvania ever created.
>blocks ur path
>risk
King's Field asset flip wasn't a risk. From are a very smart studio and have been pumping out one game per year for decades. Demon's Souls was another small step following hundreds of prior ones. Going mainstream hasn't changed their approach.
It doesn't use any KF assets
People sure lie about FromSoft a lot here lately, being the best gets them a lot of hate huh
>The Moonlight Sword
From uses and re uses content. I also wasn't hating on From. Praising Demon's Souls is fair, being a histrionic retard who acts like it was their first risky foray into gaming when a majority of its DNA had already been established in prior games is something else. And From hasn't changed. They keep quiet, make their games, and usually have at LEAST one title per year. Be it ER, Sekiro, DS, AC, King's Field, or any of those nameless RPGs or action games they made for PS2/Xbox/360. From aren't psuedointellectual retards like From fans. They're work horses who eventually created an extremely popular franchise. Nothing wrong with that. Plenty wrong with you annoying dickriders, though.
> being a histrionic retard who acts like it was their first risky foray into gaming when a majority of its DNA had already been established in prior games is something else.
please point out the established 3d hack and slash dungeon crawlers that even play like remotely like souls. the best you can do is zelda and there's still vast differences in them.
>please point out the established 3d hack and slash dungeon crawlers that even play like remotely like souls
Ocarina of Time
>Ocarina of Time
still has tons of differences between the two games.
>Remotely similar
>Now "tons of differences"
Pick one
i pick both.
you're infact a fucking retard if you think theyre similar beyond '3d hack and slash dungeon crawlers'.
surface level indicators of them playing entirely in terms of controls, how they present their stories, how they design their dungeons, and multiplayer characteristics would tell you so.
>I pick both
Then learn what words mean.
>Rest of post
>"Yeah they're similar like I requested but so what?"
Jesus christ you fanboys are fucking retarded.
Having a single item reappear as a motif, which has a different model and attacks in every game, is not "reusing content." You'd have to be an irredeemable sperg to believe that.
>You'd have to be an irredeemable sperg to believe that.
That's low even for here.
>unironically defending low effort memberberries
wasted digits
le reverse psychology low effort bait. Didn't read past the first 3 or so words of each. Go die.
play KF before actually saying shit like this, mong
Ah yes. It invented lock on and sword combat. Really innovative
I played it on my PS5 and it was honestly pretty shit
You have not played Demons Souls, it does not exist for ps5
Yes it does retard.
Your shitty proto-dark souls is shit and now that people can actually play it there's no more hiding.
Nope. It does not and you have not played it, Pablo.
israeli claws typed this
Yep
Invented new combat style, invented new pvp style, invented the only 3d metroidvania ever, invented the best way to do story in the videogame medium
while growing up i played a ton of ocarina of time. it always felt so awesome fighting those skeleton knight enemies. probably some of the best combat i ever experienced as a kid. then fast foward to the release of dark souls. my first souls game. i remembered thinking "this game is like fighting those skeleton knights in oot but for the entire game" and it instantly became one of my favorite games in existence
>FromSoft will NEVER EVER EVER make this risk ever again
Eh. Miyizaki might try it, but it would probably be alongside another Souls game in case whatever other game fails.
an entire genre
???????
t.me/MitraThret
Degenerate ripoff.
>Created an entire genre
The 3rd person action genre???? You mean "subgenre", retard
>Short seething Mexican pops off
Telling, short king yaaas
>n-no u!
Solid argument you got there shitskin mutt
You got BTFO
No use talking to a sperg, keep your power level in check next time you weird basement dweller.
I like demon's souls but it isn't "innovative" at all, unless you mean the shitty half-and-half multiplayer elements.
Why did the servers have to go offline? And yet Dark Souls is still up.
Demon's souls is shit
Only Dark Souls (1), Bloodborne and Elden Ring are good
Kappa chungus
>mfw getting hatemail for using the scraping spear or DBS after invading or getting invaded
playing the original one on PCS3, feels good to be able to play a from's souls for the first time again and it's interesting to experience the game where the whole genre started (even if you could trace back some little things all the way to King's Field). some things are good, like the level design and the aesthetics, other are terrible like enemies' behavior and movesets, build making and the complete lack of QOL features (something that's relatively true for every from game). not a masterpiece, but a good game that laid the groundwork for a great series.
>Created an entire genre
stopped reading (You)r retardation there
It's sad that they catered to coop trannies and pretty much gutted every innovative multiplayer feature. They killed their own PvPvE appeal and left the niche for asset flip trash like Dark and Darker.
>Look at this covenant where you can infect other player's worlds with harder enemies and the only way to remove it is to defeat the eye of death user. Can we fix this in the sequel?

What did DeS do better than DaS?
DeS has Latria
nothing
Incredibly overrated game.
but enough about OOT
>Created an entire genre
Anon, Monster Hunter created the genre and it predates Demon's Souls by decades.
True.
DeS PS3 remains the best Souls game together with DaS (PC non-remaster).
>created an entire genre
