shit, no wonder square is dropping out of japan
Japan is dropping out of Square Enix because they're dropping out of Japan because Japan is dropping out of Square Enix because they're dropping out of Japan
I blame California still
It's one of those cross-gen games with a free upgrade

>new games come out, still can't dethrone the constant king of trains
>it'll be back up the charts next week
But I was told Konami was dead and would be bought out? Surely that wasn't a lie.
Regardless, it doesn't change it's Konami's most succesful game in Japan ever.
We're unlikely to hear about XC2 sales from the report.

>[PS4] The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition – 1,917 / NEW
What's different in this compared to the one you can get on switch eshop since launch?
https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/aca-neogeo-the-king-of-fighters-98-switch/
UM is a completely different game. More characters, rebalance, new mechanics yadda yadda.
Same goes for 02UM, pretty much the definitive versions.
Maybe i'll check it out
Actually looks like I have it on steam already but have never played it, nice
>28. [PS4] The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition – 1,917 / NEW

Why did SNK even bothered to make this port? Hell, they even have the OG UM and vanilla '98
A switch version could have been better

>28. [PS4] The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition – 1,917 / NEW
No Switch release or just didn't chart?
No Switch release
SNK is acting really weird. Maybe they are in too deep into fgc to not deepthroat sony at this point.
Over 80% of DQ11 sales were in Japan.
If you factor in the rest of Asia, the West accounts for 10% of sales.
>The 3DS, PS4, and Switch versions sold a total of 5,000,000 units in Japan.[56] By December 2021, the game had shipped over six million copies worldwide.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Quest_XI
So?
Highly unlikely they'll make the game a PS4 or PS5 exclusive. Much more likely they'll just wait until Nintendo releases a system powerful enough for UE5. Which really shouldn't be too hard if they solve the CPU issue that the Switch has been having
UE5 has native switch support this time round rather than the scrambled together UE4 one.
So they properly tone back the excess of modules that get roped into every export? So it's not packing a shit ton of invisible CPU-intensive stuff?
Thank god
Very likely. They also probably hadn't touched UE5 much when they made the announcement, so maybe they'll have an easier time eking performance out of the current Switch
Actually more likely than you think. The Switch will be 6 years old this month. That's the historical average for time between console releases in a given series of systems. At most, I'd say we're looking at 6.5 years or Holiday season 2023 before we see the Switch 2
>The Switch will be 6 years old this month.
Next year anon.
The switch launched in March, not November.
>That's the historical average
Moot point, patterns no longer matter for a various assortment of reasons with the main one being Nintendo's original plans.
>Next year anon.
correct, my mistake
>Moot point, patterns no longer matter for a various assortment of reasons with the main one being Nintendo's original plans.
What were Nintendo's original plans?
And the presence of the T239 leaks suggests that Nintendo has likely already settled on a chip and Nvidia is working on the API now.
You're right, I meant this March, not this Month
>What were Nintendo's original plans?
Roughly 10 years.
>And the presence of the T239 leaks suggests that Nintendo has likely already settled on a chip and Nvidia is working on the API now
The only thing the leak suggests is that Nvidia have something they're willing to pitch to them. Not that Nintendo decided upon it.
I don't know why people are so desperate for new systems. I mean, there's no real reason for it beyond kowtowing to lazy Western devs.
I could understand but everything hardware related in gaming is so shit right now. really from prices to games in 2022 coming to "new generation" consoles capped at 30fps. the 4090 being the size of a xbox series x is also not very good
Not desperate I just find it hard to imagine Nintendo able to keep up. 3rd party wise at least, unless they put a new one out by late 2024/early 2025. I rather they didn;t as the switch is perfectly fine but square, bamco, and capcom are cleary looking for any excuse possible to drop nintendo for whatever reason, meanwile falcom, tc are debrudgingly moving to the switch as their main platform. I truly do not get the spite/discontent they hold.
Falcom isn't moving to switch for their main platform, Falcom is expanding it's western operations and has Sony bankrolling their upcoming anime projects.
Aniplex have nothing to do with SIE, hell they even publish switch games.
It's not aniplex, it's fricking Crunchyroll that's paying for the Falcom anime projects. Crunchyroll is entirely western.
>but square, bamco, and capcom are cleary looking for any excuse possible to drop nintendo for whatever reason,
Not really if anything they're looking to leave a certain other company because their larger games are unsustainable as they are. I mean why do you think they've been downsizing their ventures lately.
Square, Bamco, Capcom have all said they're leaving Japan behind and are doing global sales.
That has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
It kind of does. Instead of just going with the wildly successful switch they rather sell out to western piggu...even though the switch is holding a good lead in the USA, UK, etc. so focusing on the west will still be minimal unless they go super hard on pc or keep putting things on the switch.
Switch is already falling to third on NPD because supply for Xbox and PS5 are increasing.
It's just going to continue because Sony also has large games planned for March like Spiderman. That's going to give Zelda a run for it's money.
>because Sony also has large games planned for March like Spiderman. That's going to give Zelda a run for it's money.
That's what you people said about horizon and it was thoroughly demolished by Horizon. Spiderman as a PS5 exclusive has that going against it this time not to mention no one gives a shit about Spiderman anymore as shown by the sales for Miles.
>as shown by the sales for Miles
kek no one tell him
Anon, what do you think the last recorded number for it was.
>Switch is already falling to third on NPD
it isn't
>spoodermun
>giving zelda a run for its money
That's some good drugs anon, gonna share with the class?
I don't think a game like forspoken will do good in the west or in japan. And anyhow this 'muh global market shift' comes what? six months after square's ceo stated they lost their way in becoming to western developer wise? Followed by selling their western devs?
If you people can't see something fricky is going on not sure what to tell you. Square isn't telling us everything at the least. Not sure about capcom though.
Insomniac's Spiderman is probably one of the best selling IPs next to Sony's own original titles.
You had a large turnover where most people bought Forbidden West on PS5 than PS4 and the difference between how many people are playing these games on PS4 is widening since many have switched over to PS5.
God of War Ragnarok is expected to be almost entirely bought on the PS5.
>Insomniac's Spiderman is probably one of the best selling IPs next to Sony's own original titles.
Do you know how it got it there?
Bundles
Massive discounts
Being free on PS+
Things that Sony generally aren't doing with the PS5 and the last one will be affected by the reduced subcriber count.
If you're somehow insinuating that Spiderman an IP that has over 70 years of history does not have a large pre-installed fanbase and Sony somehow needs to beg in order for people to play it, that's ridiculous. The IP already has been making a killing with marvel merch for decades. You can compare the prior spiderman game sales to the one Insomniac made, Insomniac made a better spider man game and the previous ones were made while sony still had the IP under it's belt too.
So much of what you're saying is wrong.
For one, while spiderman is marvel's most popular comic hero he was never on par with video game icons to put that into perspective.
>The IP already has been making a killing with marvel merch for decades
That's because of the nature of merchandise. For example say you have an avid fan of Spiderman, at most he'll buy one copy of the comic (not counting Variants), two depending on if he wants to keep a mint copy, and one copy of each movie and game. With merch you can see people buying an insane amount
A Spiderman water gun
One of those silly string web shooters
Multiple figures of Spiderman and his rogues
Spiderman posters
Spiderman bed sheets
Spiderman everything
Merch is generally a bad indicator because one person can buy as many of the unique products as they like.
>Insomniac made a better spider man game and the previous ones were made while sony still had the IP under it's belt too.
Not only is Insomniac's game worse than 2 and Ultimate which is only showing your bias towards Sony you're also ignoring why it sold so much more which I said in my previous post.
>since many have switched over to PS5.
You say that but software sales still favor the ps4 by a large margin
lmao. remove 40% of those sales due to bundles and $10 bargin bins anon.
No one cares about that trash.
>FW sold more on ps5
lmao
lol
>No one cares about that trash
This is your personal opinion, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's a widely held belief.
>This is your personal opinion
You say that but he's not wrong. You can see the difference in non bundked/reduced titles. They pretty much just rot on shelves until the retailer has to make a deal to give them away for free.
>It kind of does
No, no it doesn't.
For one having more customers in the global market doesn't mean that their games will change if their games as is are what's selling in the West.
Two, it has nothing to do with platforms whatsoever and even then they would want to go with the current most popular platform which is the switch.
If you use a Steamdeck, the difference is night and day compared to the switch in portable mode. SteamDeck even at it's highest tier is reasonably priced for what you're getting. I could see Nintendo introducing a similar price structure and amount, especially if they decide to offer a portable version and a traditional console version for their next console.
>non oled screen
>90 minute battery life
I'm waiting for a steam deck revision
If nintendos next thing is non oled I will wait for a revision as well
Always buy the first revision to have the greatest chance of hacks and homebrew being usable
Though I doubt this time around Nvidia leaves the back door open and unlocked
unless yuzu/Ryujinx cant run it. hope they fix the stutter for bayo 3 and persona 5 r
>Steamdeck even at it's highest tier is reasonably priced for what you're getting
nah the battery life is not great for new games
Yeah but for the power and resolution you're getting the 600+ bucks is a steal.
If Switch had an upgraded 600 buck model I'd probably get it.
>Yeah but for the power and resolution you're getting the 600+ bucks is a steal.
true but you won't be able to play anything besides indies and emulators of older games for long periods of time on handheld. unironically for an emulator machine you'd be better with a series S
I don't see how the resolution is a steal at $600 and to me right now the steam deck is more of a neat toy than a viable way to play games portably, at least until the battery life can improve. But even then as more new games come out I don't see how they can do much to get most games to run around the switches battery life unless it costs even more
>If you use a Steamdeck, the difference is night and day compared to the switch in portable mode
For the majority of japanese games, it makes absolutely no difference between the two.
also the Steamdeck itself is expensive in Japan, definitely enthusiast-tier and not for the overall public.
That's still not expensive in yen for what you're getting you should look at Japanese PC parts.
I somewhat doubt it's far different from the european prices in PC hardware parts when not taking account of the difference in currency values, even if I admit I haven't look much into it. The biggest hurdle of PC building remains the same as it is the case anywhere else: searching what part is the most convenient & reliable of your use within your budget. But still, the smallest Deck model costs around the range of a PS5 there, while the highest model (with the anti-glare screen) is roughly the equivalent of 1k bucks.
I'm bored of my almost 6-year-old Switch. Isn't that enough?
because Switch is fricking WEAK. It needs upgrade to be able to play high end quality games.
>It needs upgrade to be able to play high end quality games.
Tell that to the ps5.
only lonely neckbeards give a shit about framerate this much, whereas people don't give a shit (unless the game was to reach 10fps and below) as long as the game is actually fun. Same for resolution.
Bayo 3 can't even reach 60fps and you're wondering why people want updated hardware?
The human eye can't detect the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps.
Anon, 90% of modern console games can barely hit 30 let alone 60.
Do you genuinely think its an issue with the systems and not the developers?
You're going to need to post numbers on that, because it's way more than 10% which can run a cool 60 FPS on systems.
>because it's way more than 10% which can run a cool 60 FPS on systems.
I'm talking about modern systems anon, not gen 3 and 4 systems. Hell, 10% is probably being generous if I'm being honest.
>Roughly 10 years.
Ah, I remember that.
I think that might simply mean that that's how long they plan to support the Switch, but it may not be the time between system releases.
Consider that the last wii game came out in 2020 with Hawaii Shakedown
I could see Nintendo meaning that the Switch will be supported until 2027 but it would be insane to me to think that they'd not release any new hardware until then. That would be in time for the PS6 and Xbox Series 2 to come out.
My guess is that they might due some extreme cross-gen work to keep a couple of key games on Switch 1 as well as Switch 2.
>Consider that the last wii game came out in 2020 with Hawaii Shakedown
Moot point. Nintendo more often than not stops first party support for the previous system when the next comes out.
Fair enough though that's often because new games are geared to make use of a new hardware gimmick, so they're implicitly much harder to make backwards compatible. My expectation, if Nintendo were to go with Nvidia's T239, is that the new Switch's "gimmick" would be DLSS, meaning that if the games were adjusted to provide motion vector info, then they could run on both old Switch (with 1080p target) and new Switch (with 4K docked target) with relatively little in the way of needing to do a massive optimization overhaul
>Actually more likely than you think. The Switch will be 6 years old this month
anon the switch came out in march
I bet the reason they couldn't announce platforms for DQXII at the announcement stream is because it's being developed/targeted for the Switch successor
Doubt it, we're still a few years off from a switch successor.
I'd be pretty surprised if the next Nintendo console isn't announced by this time in 2024
From the start they were planning a longer generation for the switch and that was before covid, the parts shortage and the war happened that's currently fricking everything up.
Not that anon, but even if they wanted a 'longer' generation going to 2024 is pretty damn long. Thats 7 years, march 2017 to probably holiday 2024.
Plus we see drop off of splatoon3, mario strikers battle league, xenoblade3, mario+rabbids sparks of hope, etc end by 2024.
It's clear that will be the year the next system drops.
It's not like they'll stop selling Switch 1 immediately when Switch 2 releases
I'm sure there'll be a year or two of overlap & cross-gen games so realistically, the Switch 1 generation will still have at least 2 more years to it for that "longer" generation
Nintendo would be bigly moronic to do cross gen shit after seeing it kill the piss5 and xbox s. Plus their rarely ever did that even for gamecube/wii or ds/3ds. Just make switch2 back compat and they are gold.
Just chrst please make the internal memory 64gb at min, if not 128gb.
Dude, if they do the standard two years of splatfests splatoon 3 is going well into 2024 then there's any other games they may support that come out next year.
Beyond bot2 and maybe pikmin4 getting dlcs which can both be done by early/mid 2024 not sure what else would get heavy support. odyssey 2? new dkc? don't really see prime4 getting much dlc frankly and it should be next year too.
>not sure what else would get heavy support.
Pretty much anything can. Remember the company were talking about anon.
What you tards think they would actually drag f-zero out of the grave? let's be real now. Not even Kirby and the Forgotten Land got dlc, at all. And it'd be so easy to add a post story mini campaign about freeing Popstar from...insert minor threat here...while building up Cappy Town with Elfin and Beast Pack friends.
By all means give me a game we can expect by november of 203 that have extensive dlc though.
>What you tards think they would actually drag f-zero out of the grave?
Christ all fricking lighting it's like someone threw you at a wall when you were a baby.
What part of "this is Nintendo" don't you understand?
The point is that we don't know what they're going to do, they might revive a game, they might make a sequel, they might make a remake, they might make a whole new IP. Unless a game is delayed they never announce their plans in advance.
And what part of 'name something beyond what was meantioned that could get heavy dlc' don't you get? Obviously they could do anything, but without throwing some ideas out it's barely even speculation. And again a major release like K FL didn't get dlc. Nor did Astral Cain. Bayonetta3 likely won't. Dread got a pittance. Maro Party Supar Stars got none despite people being certain it would. So no guarantees whatever is in the works will get dlc beyond pokemon probably and botw2.
NTA but that's the point.
He's saying that you can't use the games that currently exist to determine when Nintendo will stop supporting the systems because they could just as easily put out a new game that they intend to support.
>only games he can think of are Zelda, Pikmin, Mario and DKC
Jesus christ anon, this is Nintendo. Not to mention you know there's either going to be pokemon dlc next year or a new game.
And what makes you think that DQXII is anywhere close to releasing?
Lots of speculation/circumstantial evidence on Famiboards hints to a early 2023 release
I'm hopeful but I'm not putting much stock into that yet. I can't see Switch 2 being released much later than Q1 2024
Did you forgot who "leaked" the Nintendo NX system? Yes, it was Square Enix. Doing a tour promoting DQ XI.
which was the weirdest thing since it was a late port.
>Yes, it was Square Enix. Doing a tour promoting DQ XI.
This is false by the way.
Nintendo was talking about the NX march 2015 the earliest while DQ11 going to it was several months later in July.
>Did you forgot who "leaked" the Nintendo NX system? Yes, it was Square Enix.
Wrong, Nintendo was the first to mention it on their quarterly report in 2015.
3DS version was only released in Japan
>PlayStation 5 – 38.866 (2.067.279)
>Switch – 38.634 (26.562.178)
OH NO NO NO
look
Shitch is fricking dead, press S to spit on its grave. Itll be lucky to sell 50k when pokemon comes out, and the ps5 is just gonna keep climbing from here. This is just a tiny taste of when god of war launches.
NSW out of stock everywhere...calm before the storm (Pokemon S / V NSW Oled)
SWITCH SISTERS.... WHY IS PLAYSTATION WINNING?
Somewhat low sellthrough rates for Bayo 3.
So they were expecting 100k units.
it's a voucher game, it's gonna do big numbers digitally
I'm sure the physical stores who are left with half of the useless stock will be glad to hear this.
true
I doubt they expected all of them to sell to be honest. but surely they expected better than this
Somewhat? There's more green than lmao. It's low as frick
I guess the controversy didn’t help
It actually boosted interest.
>controversy about an English VA didn't boost sales in Japan
Bayonetta originally never had a japanese dub until bayo 2. To Japanese fans she is bayonetta.
>western controversy didn't boost physical game sales in japan
god this board is so fricking stupid.
The fricking morons responding to you don't even realize the japs use Twitter too and learned of the controversy. Not to mention kamiyas jap account which is followed by a bunch of japs talked about it and got deleted over it
What a massive flop
>Bayotards thought this would outsell DMC5
I mean, aint DM5 in 3 consoles? If Bayonetta were to outsell it. DM5 team should unlive themselves
>baWOKEtta flopped
Oh no no no no HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
How is it woke when trannies and lesbos hate the hetero romance the game ends with?
It's just as cinematic as Uncharted or God of War. It has disgusting cutscenes, it pays cancerous voice actors to ruin the medium by trying to turn games into movies, the usual stuff that sony and microsoft would push. Infact, any game that has these elements should be discarded as woke, because that's what most pozzed game devs want: to turn games into "artistic movies".
>but what about the gameplay
Shit unless youc an ostensibly prove that it can survive without the filler. And if it can, you should have no problem with someone despising the non-game elements.
Go to bed AC
I'm not hearing a rebuttal.
Doug what makes it WOKE? You are just repeating yourself as you do for the last 10 years.
Woke games don't want to be games. They want to be hollywood movies. And what do movies have?
>voice acting
>cutscenes
>"deep cinematic lore"
>attempting to make you care about the characters
These things do not belong in video games. Not to mention this is several million dollars that could've been spent improving the game itself. But no, we need to pay 150,000 dollars a day for voice actors.
Oh yes cinematic experiences like Terraria
>whataboutism
That's not what woke means Doug.
I swear, it's like you see words and just plop them where you like.
Every one of Ganker's approved list of "movies to hate" all have these same issues. It's no longer just a coincidence. Look at webm related, it looks like it came straight out of Bayonetta. It's full of disgusting special effects and flashy smoke and mirrors and bells and whistles.
Damn just like the disgusting pixel graphics of Terraria
>game that wastes 90% of its budget on special effects and CGI
>is comparable to a game that cost nothing to make
Doug why are you excusing cinematic graphics and animation shit experience shit like Terraria when you could play Dwarf Fortress or pong instead?
>Look at webm related, it looks like it came straight out of Bayonetta.
Getting off the woke topic for a moment I can't really see any similarity between that and Bayo.
For one, Bayo isn't nearly that flashy and you can make out what you're doing.
Two, there aren't usually any NPCs just aimlessly wandering.
Three, there's more reactions to attacks and you can even knock enemies and bosses away.
Four You can actually jump in Bayo
Anywho, that's still not what woke means. Woke originally referred to over-representation of blacks but now it refers to anything outside of the norm like lgbt representation or any modern political discourse.
Bayo can't be considered woke because it only has one black person who isn't the main character and has no lgbt or politics in its story.
The definition of "woke" means that the game is being used to push some political agenda, and Bayo has it in spades.
>dudes video game characters need to talk and emote and have feelings, how else will you sympathize with them?
You cannot convince me that this is any better than whatever western companies are trying to do. It's all putrid and ruining the medium, whether you consider it woke or not.
>and Bayo has it in spades.
There are no politics in Bayo whatsoever, what made you think there was?
>what made you think there was?
Mental illness
Does Bayonetta have voice lines? Yes? Then it's political. It's implying that video game characters should be allowed to speak. It has ruined video games since the invention of voice acting, and I for one am sick of people thinking it;s okay to blow an entire game's budget on some parasite that comes in, does some voice lines, and expects hundreds of thousands of dollars.
By the same logic every game with text thats in an existing language is also political.
If I can't remove it without the fanbase squealing and crying that it "ruins the game" then yes.
Feelings and emotions are political. They are a cancerous plague on vidya. No longer can a video game character just be a beep boop robot man who shoots things. Now every game has to waste hour after hour telling me that I need to care about some character's emotional state.
>Feelings and emotions are political
Feelings and emotions can be conveyed through more than just voice and aren't inherently political.
That said if you believe this then there isn't a single game that can't be considered political.
You're forgetting games like Gradius and Tetris and pong, not to mention thousands of arcade titles. They didn't need countless hours of exposition telling me how to feel.
>You're forgetting games like Gradius and Tetris and pong, not to mention thousands of arcade titles.
No they convey emotion through text. By your logic they're inherently political.
>one word = 5+ hours of cutscenes
Yeah, as long as it conveys emotion you consider it political.
>the characters look at a camera once, this means you have to accept games being nothing but walking simulators with no gameplay
But Doug, you yourself has said countless times that ratios don't matter, its still cinematic shit.
I also said that the games were shit if you couldn't remove these elements without ruining the games. Fortunately you can remove these tiny bouts of words, and the game is no worse off. Infact I recommend it. That's called being a gameplay enthusiast. You're happy to remove everything that isn't gameplay.
>Does Bayonetta have voice lines? Yes? Then it's political.
Okay, what makes it political?
What are they talking about that makes it political?
Thneed.
totally not a woke game
totally not a troony character
totally not voiced by a troony
have a nice day troony apologist
>he's still crying
Is she voiced by a troony in the original language aswell?
The VA is a troony? I knew he/she/it/whatever supported that charity for them but as far as I know they aren't one themself.
and what about poo production?
November 8 - next nintendo financial report
Can't wait
Predictions
>XB2-3mil
>XB3-2mil
isn't it early for xenoblade both 2 and 3 to get those numbers? 2 was hard stuck on 2M for a while and 3 is too new
XC2 was at 2.44m at the beginning of the year it's unlikely it's above 2.5 million right now, XC3 will be probably around 1.2 million in the report.
Bet accepted
is right, but it would be nice to see. Hopefully DE can hit the 2 mill as well.
>DE can hit the 2 mill
i doubt it
Why not? I mean, is it considered to be the best of the Xenoblade series, though it is a remaster.
>is it considered to be the best of the Xenoblade series
This is the OLD game
mechanics are the same
DLC means nothing
DE never got to reach 1.8m.
If by next week it isn't on orange then it pretty much flopped.
Those numbers would be nice.
Love me some Xenoblade.
XC2 isn't gonna sell an addition 600k copies in 3 months after 5 years on the market.
>"XB2-3mill"
What the frick are XB2 fans on? It's not even close to 3 million it is, and its sales have obviously stopped increasing by any relevant amount.

>Bayonetta flopped
Kek based
Erictroony, none of the games you claimed flopped actually did.
But soulhackers 2 did.
Bayonetta outsold every ps5 game
>8. [NSW] Aquarium – 13,199 / NEW
Based Onyan giving Entergram the highest week 1 physical sales they've ever seen taking the throne from Konosuba's first VN which was across 2 platforms.
rabyu onyan
>game is called aquarium
>apparently not about owning and caring for fish, shrimp, turtles, etc
???????
star ocean 6 flopped, lol.
>Valkyrie Elysium
>Star Ocean
Tactics Ogre is next on the chopping block.
It sold more than bayo and is in the orange as opposed to green
>is in the orange as opposed to green
Is this the new snoy cope?
Green has always meant it didn't sell it's stock, bayo didn't. Star Ocean did. Frick your revisionism
Those sales are for 1 platform. PS only. No PC and xbox numbers
Good thing it's not a ps game, it's an SE game, and those frickers refuse to give tri ace any decent amount of budget so if anything it made 10-100 times it's budget
>Those sales are for 1 platform.
>PS5 and PS4
Any game on ps needs 10-100 times the budget just for muh graphics
I don't think budget is an actual issue.
I mean, SE have long history of mismanagement. Monolith under Nintendo thumb work much better since they crack whips and give teams proper deadlines.
>Monolith under Nintendo thumb work much better since they crack whips and give teams proper deadlines.
More than that Nintendo forces Monolith to beat out their gameplay first then do all the story/lore tism. Takahashi has many talks on this in regards to the original chronicles on the Wii.
And they admitted that Nintendo development pipeline is damn right.
Wellobviously. Game play is king. Story/world design should lit it up though where possible.
Ever think Bamco regrets selling Monolith? Is it partly why they seethe at Nintendo now?
What a terrible deal on their part in the long run. lol. Same for most devs trying to reject Nintendo out right meaning they built up heavy hitting 1st parties and barely need 3rd parties.
>another 1bil on self investment/growth, hirings (read poachings lmao), more dev teams
I'd love to see them use the Sony devs they plundered to make a dark cloud spirit successor then steal off a mon hun dev or 3 to make beast slayer.
>It sold more than bayo
>2 platforms vs 1
Ps games need 10-100 times the budget for muh graphics
>Soul Hackers 2 is officially a flop
What went wrong?
gee, who knows
>bad game = bad sales
No idea anon, it's a mystery for the ages!
It's a good game though.
>good game
>Soul Hackers 2
lol
lmao even
>canned AI-tier response
Being a shitposter won't make up for your lack of personality.
Labeling me as a shitposter doesn't change the fact that it's a bad game. Multiple loading screens just to use fusion is baffling. On PS5 no less.
Low budget game, janky presentation, bad reviews and most importantly, negative word of mouth.
Doesn't sound like they lost money which should've been said by Sega to shareholders if it hit that so no harm done really except loss of time. But yeah, If they were expecting to use a low budget Unity game to make more than a million sales, Sega are basically Sqaure Enix 2.0 on expectations.
>What went wrong?
not on Switch
Then why is Elden Ring at 20 million copies?
casualgay bait?
And it could be at 30mil or even 40mil if on switch.
Also pc.
Cause Open world memes and Face front sales.
Now being serious, cause ER is not a weeb game not releasing on the default weeb console of the corresponding generation.
homie, is not your 1st day on Ganker, you shouldnt be asking stupid questions like that.
Elden Ring is a weeb game, Bandai's already in the process of wanting to make an anime out of it.
Also default weeb console is just your opinion.
>Elden Ring is a weeb game
Made in japan =/= Weeb
homie, if you are this new, shut it and lurk more.
Sounds like you think all weebs are of similar mind, they're not.
Weebs are very diverse in both tastes and of thinking.
You have no idea what weebb means newbie. Now get ye gone.
>soihomosexuals bought their shitty funky poppers?
>must be a liked series
Dumbass.
You're not countering any of his arguments on why the souls series is not a weeb game when it meets all the requirements.
It comes from Japan
It has autistic amounts of lore
It has shitloads of spreadsheet builds
It had waifus
King's Field was by all means a weeb game and Elden Ring pays tribute to it heavily. Not only that but there's an entire army of players who dress up as Guts.
So Theoretically if Japan doesn't equal Weeb, then a weeb game could be made in America and be considered weeb just as much then. Because as you stated coming from japan doesn't make it weeb.
Sounds like you got filtered with Souls games and don't want your weeb cred hurt.
That and just because a weeb game is popular with the western mass market doesn't take away from the fact that it's a weeb game.
>Bandai's already in the process of wanting to make an anime out of it.
Huh?
everything needs an anime now anon. It's just the rules.
Probably will be isekai for extra homosexualry.
So it's not so much that it is happening but that you want it to happen
I truly do not care but castlevania got an anime. cyberpunk did. scarlet nexus did. etc. so much shit gets anime now.
Or. Or. Developers learn to code again and actually figure out optimization again.
Or. Or. Both.
Games are already Optimized dude, forcing developers to cut corners for the switch when PS5, Xbox, and PC don't require them to will just have them drop the system altogether.
>forcing developers to cut corners for the switch when PS5, Xbox, and PC don't require them to will just have them drop the system altogether.
The problem is that we're reaching a point where the consumers are dropping the developers because of their lack of optimization. Not to mention they're already complaining about bloated budgets
If they choose not to fix themselves up then it's going to fall on their head.
>consumers are dropping developers due to optimization
No that only happened with Cyberpunk because it was a genuine broken piece of garbage. And they later recouped the loss once they fixed it.
If a game is released in a genuine broken state people drop it, that's the only instance where it happens.
>No that only happened with Cyberpunk
You do realise that Square Enix was complaining about this very thing right?
Square Enix runs the largest MMO currently in existence. They were saying that the switch was too underpowered to run things. Their Japanese sales were in decline for 15 years while their western sales grew.
>They were saying that the switch was too underpowered to run things.
They've never once said that by the way, what they have said is that AAA development is becoming to costly for them.
Japanese market is just unsustainable all around. Even Nintendo said they need global audiences awhile back. There's not a large developer in japan who's not in the same boat as Square Enix.
>Japanese market
It has nothing to do with the Japanese Market. AAA games are inherently unsustainable.
>There's not a large developer in japan who's not in the same boat as Square Enix.
All these companies have been making AAA games since the 90's though. That's over 30 years of sustainability.
>All these companies have been making AAA games since the 90's though
What exactly do you think AAA means?
AAA is a term related to rate of return, these high budget games have a large rate of return meaning by spending more they're making more. And going by everything else that has no changed.
>AAA is a term related to rate of return
No, its solely related to the budget.
If it were about the rate of return then only Nintendo's games would fall under AAA.
>these high budget games have a large rate of return meaning by spending more they're making more.
That's the problem, they aren't making more. They have to make it up with dlc and the like.
Ok, Ben Judd. Go back to your usual dicksucking.
>Japanese market is just unsustainable all around.
Literally isn't. Stop demnding gams that will sell 2 million to sell 8 million. Square has been this moronic since the tomb raider reboot. This is a bloated budget and excessive expectation problem.
>nintendo stated they need the global market
Proofs or eat wiener.
>>Even Nintendo said they need global audiences awhile back
lol
Most Nintendo releases in Japan turn a profit just off of the Japanese sales, they really don't it's third parties that need western audiences because Nintendo is the only company in the region that actually gives a frick about where new customers come from, hence why they are seeing the best sales of their lifetime.
Nintendo even said they can't be fricking supported by Japan for their first party releases.
Source?
>8 million units
>not enough to turn a profit
Oh yeah, I'm sure that's the case.
Miyamoto said that Japan cannot support Nintendo, they opt for a sale of 2 million on average since some games will make more and some will make less , so games will need to cover for under performing ones.
Nintendo does not focus on japan and instead primarily focuses on global releases.
What does that have to do with your 3rd party argument?
All of Nintendo's IPs are setting series' records in Japan, while almost all PS-focused 3rd party games are flopping.
All of those third party companies have all said they're focusing on global releases as well. Every single sizable Japanese developer has said the same thing, Japan can't support the market like it once could. And the weakened yen is just accelerating this.
>All of those third party companies have all said they're focusing on global releases as well
You know, you say this but never provide a source beyond square. Hell, they're he only nip dev that hasn't seen any growth in Japan.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/10/persona-5s-huge-success-is-down-to-western-sales-sega-report-reiterates
Atlus/Sega have both said the global sales are what they focus on because Persona and Yakuza are flagship series and both have over 70% of their sales in the west.
But that doesn't say that Japanese sales are unsustainable just that western sales are lucrative.
You just proved yourself wrong there anon. They never said that Japan was unsustainable just that they're finally making headway in the West.
That's not what it says
>It's crazy to think that just a five or six years ago, Persona developer Atlus was making Western fans wait months for localised versions of its games. It's a shift that's indicative of the Japanese industry as a whole, with bigger publishers coming to realise that breaking into the Western market is a borderline necessity where console gaming is concerned.
"The western market is a necessity for Japanese
games"
No sweeter words spoken, those asiatics shall be praying for a third bomb.
That's literally what the reports says.
You're taking opinions from the writer which has nothing to do with sega and Atlus.
Nope, Sega and Atlus now rely on the west and even the Yakuza devs said the same thing.
Sega/Atlus have never said that and nor have the Yakuza team.
The only thing you have is the pushsquare journalist inserting their opinions.
https://tojodojo.com/sega-say-the-western-sales-of-yakuza-like-a-dragon-helped-contribute-to-strong-performance-in-latest-financial-quarter/
Western sales have pushed sega the last few quarters and have lead them entirely
Nothing about relying on the west or catering to them.
It seems like you just want them to stop making better games than the West.
I don't think you get it, the west udnerstand japanese games perfectly well and have the same mentality as players over in japan. It's a larger market and more people having influence over a series is not a bad thing because there's always room for improvement.
like getting rid of mahjong minigames.
Source?
Those Nintendo IPs make up a very small number of total titles including Nintendo's own catalog, Bayonetta is not going to make any huge sales, neither is stuff like harvestella.
Bayonetta 3 sold better than Bayonetta 2.
Which recent PS-focused Square Enix game outsold it's predecessor?
>Nintendo does not focus on japan
Of course they do, the way they make games hasn't changed an iota since the 80s.
The mistake you're making is that you're under the assumption that supporting Western releases means changing when it just means ensuring Western releases get the same treatment as Eastern releases.
Also I don't think Miyamoto said what you think he said.
Miyamoto said exactly that, it was even linked in previous threads multiple times to the nintendo financial report where he said it.
Then link it now.
Someone else will do it when the argument comes up again. I wasn't the one who posted it
If you cut out all other divisions outside of Japan Nintendo's Japanese sales could sustain them, but that's kind of against the point, other Japanese developers are moving their focus away from Japan and aiming to appeal to western audiences to the point that the western release is the one primarily developed (see forspoken) Nintendo are the one company that keep the Japanese version the primary version, Japanese sales can pay for most games costs by themselves.
Bayonetta 1 didn't have Japanese VA, Nintendo is the reason subsequent games do and why there's a Japanese version of Bayonetta.
That's not what Nintendo thinks and that's clearly that's not what Nintendo has done either. They focus on global releases and have done so for the entirety of the switch.
keep saying it bro since you've obviously got no other argument
You mean those games with lots of distinctly Japanese concepts, Sorry what game is the Nintendo equivalent of Forspoken featuring Western Actors in the primary role, written by American film writers and with the game voiced in English as it's main language?
Those are all superficial things
Forespoken is an open world RPG a genre that Nintendo doesn't make outside of Xenoblade.
And Xenoblade isn't even considered a core series by Nintendo
>other Japanese developers are moving their focus away from Japan and aiming to appeal to western audiences
This is false by the way. You, I and they know that it's the Japanese games that are v attracting western users in other words, to appeal to them just means continuing as is.
It really isn't.
Everything in your post is superficial you moron. Nintendo makes games that westerners like but they keep them Japanese, they make them for their Japanese audience, and this is in a time where everyone else is making their games less Japanese to try and appeal to westerners.
Nothing about Nintendo games are specifically Japanese, they're specifically Nintendo.
What's so Japanese about fricking Windwaker or Twilight Princess? Nothing, it's more to do with Nintendo's brand than Japan's culture.
Their humour, a lot of the themes and concepts are Japanese centric, they use a lot of distcintly Japanese settings, like Bowser's Castle in Mario Odyssey, or the ancient Sheika Designs in Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade uses Japanese conceptions of western ideas, like the Sin of Lust is completely different in Japanese philosophy compared to western philosophy, Mario has a lot of distinctly Japanese outfits, and international art releases still feature strangely Japanese things like Mario wearing traditiona Japanese in international post cards. Nintendo remains Japanese because they know that westerners like Japanese things, whereas other companies are trying to remove the Japanese things because they see western games being major successes and think that that's what people want.
Splatoon remains distinctly Japanese.
Yeah man forspoken is totally using Japanese ideas to appeal to westerners.
Even now other Japanese companies copy western design philosophies and copy western trends, while Nintendo continues to just do what it always does, anyone who thinks that Nintendo is pivoting their business to appeal to western audiences in favour of it's traditional Japanese ones is completely moronic, Nintendo knows that by appealing to it's Japanese audiences it will appeal to western ones simultaneously, other companies not so much.
Yeah, japanese devs just recognize making games about japanese culture and characters will sell well both in the West and Japan, hence the rise of samurai games.
Miss me with that Zelda bullshit.
Yeah this is true Ishin is getting a remake because Sony's own Tsushima came out to wide global success so now Yakuza and the new Ronin IP want in on the action.
>making games about japanese culture and characters will sell well both in the West and Japan
Neither Isshin nor Ronin will set the charts on fire in Japan
Literally do not care, they're both games intended for global audiences. I want games to be as widespread as possible, global sales matter above all else.
>Will sell well both in the West and Japan
>They wont sell well in Japan
>LITERALLY DONT CARE
Here's the thing I want as many countries as possible to be exposed to all types of gameplay. I want weebs of all different colors, creeds and stripes to spring forth from the ground full formed like Athena bursting from the head of Zeus.
>Here's the thing I want as many countries as possible to be exposed to all types of gameplay.
What prevented this from happening unitl now?
If that's true, japs are self-hating shit, no respect from me.
Nah, Japs hate Californian PlayStation. Those games stand no chance in Japan because of that
So they hate their own samurai culture and their race?
Jesus, cucked to bone.
must be sad having to "pretend" to be moronic to defend modern day snoy
How am I moronic for saying it's stupid that Zelda, a white worship game, is more popular than Japan samurai games?
keep going moron
Keep coping, cuck.
I only play Japan samurai games, no cucked white worship shit. Frick Zelda.
moron
I guess you're Japanese then?
Zelda takes western fantasy and makes it distinctly Japanese.
Like how exactly?
Is Zelda japanese?
Is Link japanese?
Fricking Dark Souls is more japanese than Zelda.
Is Travis Touchdown Japanese?
It takes Japanese art styles with Japanese writing and philosophical backing based on the cultural experiences of Japanese people, Breath of the Wild bases a lot of it's design on Princess Mononoke, is that Japanese? even it's approach to level design is Japanese with Zelda itself a Japanese made series pinoneering it, and it's open world approach is yet again Japanese.
Breath of the wild is an asscreed clone through and through it's a western styled game because it features mechanics that all originated in the west, it's missing the classic Zelda style gameplay and doesn't even feature the types of dungeons that Zelda is long known for.
Travis Touchdown is not japanese.
Zelda is not japanese.
Princess Mononoke is actually japanese.
If they want to rip off Mononoke correctly, make it japanese.
Breath of the Wild and Tears of The Kingdom are both Ubisoft mechanics in a western open world setting.
>Yeah man forspoken is totally using Japanese ideas to appeal to westerners.
Yeah?
There's nothing really Western about it beyond the main character not being nip or an anime character.
>open world
>written by westerners using western tropes in dialogue
Are you fricking serious? the game is designed from the ground up to appeal to western audiences, unless you are blind, you probably are.
>>open world
Not inherently western especially since the idea originated with games like Zelda back in the 80s.
by westerners using western tropes in dialogue
Oh so you have the game on hand? How about posting the credits for us while you're at it.
The game is built around the western look on open worlds.
You clearly haven't watched a single trailer because it's not only all over the dialogue but here's the lead writer.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Whitta
>The game is built around the western look on open worlds
Not really, you can clearly see that it takes from a more Japanese fantastical setting with impossible landscapes rather than a more realistic Western look.
Strange, Gary isn't actually credited on it.
Except impossible landscapes are not unique to Japanese fantasy, western fantasy does it too.
>western fantasy does it too.
Not really no, you'd be hard pressed to find a game made by a western developer that looks like forspoken.
>Forspoken (2023) - Writer and story team lead
You blind?
It's characters are designed to appeal to westerners, it's open world is designed around what westerners want from them, it doesn't give a frick about the Japanese audience and the point is that this is just the start, this is coming to every one else but Nintendo, who even tard wrangle their western studios to stop them from overblowing it with shit like this.
It's not fair to say it's the start, this shit started with Square Enix pushing Eidos into making the Marvel games, then there's Japan Studio being shuttered, then there's Japanese developers trying to keep arms length away from the Switch, you're looking at whispers of the future.
No, Xenoblade is heavily western sci-fi based right down to ripping shit off from james Cameron's Avatar for Xenoblade X.
Bowser's Castle has mostly been depicted as a European style castle
You're getting high off your farts dude. Nintendo isn't known for their humor either. None of their games are considered funny.
>Xenoblade is heavily western sci-fi based right down to ripping shit off from james Cameron's Avatar for Xenoblade X.
>set in new la
>still lots of japanese gags and philosophical concepts
Fricking moronic man.
>Bowser's Castle has mostly been depicted as a European style castle
And in Mario Odyssey it was as Japanese as ever, out of the blue it was just Japanese, because Nintendo are Japanese and like Japanese concepts.
>You're getting high off your farts dude. Nintendo isn't known for their humor either. None of their games are considered funny.
No need to project homosexual.
Even in the movie Bowser's castle is a european style fortress.
>just realized this said "koopa" in ateji after all these years
>Xenoblade is heavily western sci-fi
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Dude, this is a series that doesn't hit its anime homages and you think its Western inspired?
Are people forgetting that giant robots are not something that japan created and was an already existing trope that they adopted? Starship troppers is what inspired Gundam.
If Nintendo does it, it's japanese.
If non-Nintendoes does it, it's California Playstation.
It's a cope.
Gigantor came out 50 years before Starship Troopers.
Gigantor was a different kind of robot. Starship troopers is also older than it.
Starship troopers was originally made in the 1950's and then compiled into the book later on. It featured piloted robots.
>Starship troopers is also older than it.
Hate to break it to you but the original Tetsujin manga that became Gigantor was published in 56. A few years before Troopers made it into Fantasy and Science.
Robert Heinlein started work on Starship Solider in 1955
And it wasn't seen until after 56.
1959 was the first publication but it was the first real mecha story while Gigantor is just a large robot.
Moot point. Both are giant robots, also Tetsujin gets points for being fully illustrated.
Having a Sentient robot is different from what was featured in Starship Troopers.
Tetsujin was piloted by remote control but seeing as you want to be a pedantic little shit this is from Atomic Power Android made in 48.
>Starship troppers is what inspired Gundam.
Tell me where Starship Troopers has a giant robot suit up scene.
Many mechanical designs in X are not that different from what's been featured in Mechwarrior over the years.
Let's not forget the main city is Los Angeles, a
>gets btfo out in his starship troopers comparison
>makes another stupid one
I'm sorry you think Tomino didn't crib shit from many pre-established western works, but he did.
>Many mechanical designs in X are not that different from what's been featured in Mechwarrior over the years
Yes, yes they are.
Except the whole thing surrounding mechwarrior was that they used the same japanese artists to design mechs.
Clearly they didn't hire good ones.
>It really isn't.
Did you have anything else to add to this or what? Because going "it really isn't" and leaving it at that doesn't prove you right.
>They were saying that the switch was too underpowered to run things.
And yet the majority of their games nowadays are on switch.
>If a game is released in a genuine broken state people drop it
No, there's a very clear decline for all but the largest and most well known vidya franchises
>games are optimized
>most shitty yearly sports games are like 40gb of data just because
>dom eternal is like 60gb or more
>devs just use prepacked engines they barely undersand
>meanwhile first party switch titles look great
How queer. Almost like devs should into optimization.
just read the posts above you anon.
Devs can never do wrong. Just put in more flopping teras yo.
>Games are already Optimized dude,
The frick they are, it's getting to the point where developers are forcing downloads on to people.
Developers have been forcing downloads on people since before the PS3/360/Wii era because PC games started to do it with MMos.
Frick the Dreamcast had downloads.
You fricking moron, I'm not talking about patches.
The most recent CoD game doesn't have the game on the disc at all. The only thing on it is a downloader.
You realize that Activison/Blizzard was already doing that shit in the mid 2000's?
Fricking hell you have no clue what's going on. This is completely new anon.
Bethesda had the launcher on the Fallout 76 disc, devs have been doing shit like that for years already. the MW2 shit is not a new phenomena
>Bethesda had the launcher on the Fallout 76 disc,
No one gives a shit about pc anon. F76 installed from the disc for consoles.
Who the frick told you that? Until now their games were all on the disc.
No they weren't. Spyro was released with only the first game on the disc and the rest had to be downloaded via patch.
Warcraft just came with the launcher for quite a few expansions already same with Diablo because you had to tie them to your BNet account.
Are you being moronic on purpose?
Anon, Spyro literally has two of the three games on disc. You can play those games all you want without downloading anything.
You don't seem to understand that MW2 has NOTHING on it.
Literally nothing.
No other game in the history of gaming has done that for a console release.
I get you want to be right but this isn't the hill to die on for that.
>Spyro was released with only the first game on the disc and the rest had to be downloaded via patch
Can confirm, people were fricking pissed when they found that out. It also wasn't the whole first game so if you had a slow connection you were wiener blocked from going passed Peace Keepers
Both Dragon Quest XIS and Monster Hunter Rise proved just how weak the switch was. XIS looks like dogshit compared to the original on real hardware and Rise needed a patch so it didn't look like garbage on PC.
absolute fricking moron
just stop posting and stop embarrassing yourself.
you're probably no older than 15, go frick off back to wherever you came from.
You're just butthurt dude
Why don't Playstation fans buy videogames?
Apple like cult fanbase. They only care about the brand
I really fail to see why dragon quest won’t take off in the west when
Persona was way more Japanese than dragon quest ever was since dragon quest is set in European Fantasy for the majority
Monster Hunter world had a way higher learning curve than Dragon
Quest
And Square itself now targeting an international market for all its large games and IPs. Surely they’re seeing stuff like House of Dragons retain the Game of Thrones popularity and that there’s a demand for fantasy series in media, especially after Embracer group just bought up a ton of tabletop companies for billions and Hasbro also doing the same.
Honestly seems really inevitable that 12 won’t be the one that has Dragon Quest break through majorly in western markets. Square seems to be banking on it already
That and Elden Ring is now expecting to top 20 million sales globally according to Bandai
Elden Train doesn’t have breaks
>Persona was way more Japanese than dragon quest ever was since dragon quest is set in European Fantasy for the majority
You don't get it. Persona was set in Japan but that's what weebs want.
DQ on the other hand is a Japanese rpg that doesn't appeal to weebs
Elden Ring wasn’t set in Japan either or any of the souls games outside of Senior for that matter.
I don’t think you have a good grasp on what weebs want since there are many types of weebs now
Elden Ring is also a souls game and has the 2HARD4U meme at its disposal.
Because unlike what westoids and Square-Enix like to think breaking into the west isn't a surefire thing, and in the case of DQ they're risking alienating the japanese basically more likely not making returns and pissing off people in the proccess.
Except westerners like turn based combat which is the cornerstone of DQ.
They’re absolutely not at risk for alienating the Japanese by appealing to the American market
>Except westerners like turn based combat which is the cornerstone of DQ.
It's not the turn based combat that drew people to Persona.
Adding a romance mechanic to a dragon quest game wouldn’t be hard. 11s already had a primitive one
That's also not it anon.
People bought it to self insert as a Japanese teen.
A self insert hero isn’t out of the realms of dragon quest or RPGs either
Are you being moronic on purpose or did you just miss the "Japanese teen" part?
Did you conviently forgot about DQV?
>Except westerners like turn based combat which is the cornerstone of DQ.
Sure, not the public SE is chasing, see Final Fantasy or Valkyrie Elysium.
>Except westerners like turn based combat
you know the only recent games I remember with turn based combat that sold more than 5 million copies were DQXI, persona 5 and fricking ring fit adventure
You forgot pokemon.
why did you remind me? frick I miss the old games. anyway you're right
This
>Persona was way more Japanese than dragon quest
nah. persona is way closer to what anime fans are expecting japanese midia to be
>elsen ring
? souls players are not exactly the same people that play JRPGs
>Soulsplayers are not the type to buy JRPGs
Not true, not only are the souls games jrpgs, there’s loads of crossovers between the fandom with other series. People just don’t specifically stay in one series and one series only
No they’re not. They’ll be more inclined to play stuff like Skyrim if anything, not weeb games.
>souls games jrpgs
they really aren't. they don't play anything like games like persona or DQ
>FF7R
explicitly made the games action instead of turn based
Did you miss dragon quest 10 offline sitting on top?
yes but I was just pointing that FF7R is nothing like the original. what is the point of the image anyway? I hope you're not making a point that this specific collection proves anything, specially since X offline and XI sold better on swtch/3DS
>they don't play anything like games like persona or DQ
They don't have to to be jrpgs. The only requisite is to be an rpg made in Japan.
nah it's a genre specific to japanese turn based rpgs
No it isn't. Kingdom Hearts is also a jrpg but it isn't turn based for instance.
it isn't. in the same way that there are distinctions between RPGs and action RPGs (ARPG). in anyway why would you bundle persona and souls (elden ring in this case) when they don't have anything in common besides being japanese?
>posting the same pic from the last 3 threads if not last few weeks
getting tired yet anon?
Solution : add isekai to DQ
They kind of did that with 9.
It was the best selling game on a single platform.
Go all the way and add conversation with goddess, cheat ability, elf slave, rice autism, etc etc
Well you see, Persona is somewhat interesting, Dragon Quest is generic and boring.
I think at least, I've never actually played a Dragon Quest game, they look too generic and boring
Frick these takes are so terrible. No wonder nobody listens to Ganker
Are you going to explain why Dragon Quest is more than just some generic JRPG then?
You won't because you can't
The real question is what makes Persona more than just some generic jrpg.
The whole calendar system and all activities and mechanics tied to that time management?
So nothing really sets it apart as a game.
I mean yeah, the games are largely style over substance, but at least the style is kinda unique.
Considering how popular it is, many people seem to see it that way. Why? Is the school setting that much more engaging than a fantasy world?
The fact that it's a dating/friend simulator pretending to be a JRPG
That and the weirdly sexual demon designs
well persona does have elements of dating sims and is usually stylish in its presentation. besides that I don't remember other jrpgs that are set on modern world
>besides that I don't remember other jrpgs that are set on modern world
There are hundreds of contemporary jrpgs anon a few of them being other Atlus jrpgs.
well I can remember SMT and persona, which is technically the same franchise and would include games like
what are the others?
Not him but
Digimon cyber sleuth
Digimon Survive
TMS
Yakuza 7
NEO TWEWY
Technically Live A Live
Tokyo Xanadu off the top of my head
Because you can't take the games at face value. On the surface they present as bright, cartoony and give the air of a typical overarching shonen plot. But the games are broken down into smaller stories and a lot of them are dark and bitter sweet, filled with death, sacrifice and loss. The dynamic between the two are what makes the games compelling.
Congrats anon you have convinced me to try watching a lets play. Pick the one game I should watch someone else play.
DQV is proto Pokémon that has romance mechanic, and dark story
Dq12 will have a "dark & mature" syory, and it will look exactly as FF16.
Not while pic-related exist
Just give him angry eyebrows
DQ12 is supposed to be rated M tho.
says who? your ass?
>a DQ that can't be bought by elementary schoolers
So they want to kill off the last successful Japanese IP they have? Are Square really that moronic? ...probably.
They are most definitely that moronic.
You say that like it's a bad thing
DQ mostly selling in Japan, but selling just enough in the West to warrant continuing to translate the sequels is the best possible outcome for the long term health of the series

REMINDER THAT SWITCH HARDWARE IS SELLING LIKE ABSOLUTE SHIT ON AMAZON JP AND EVEN THE PS5 IS AHEAD
Erictroony, are you still trying?
No, no he isn't. Remember, he's been do broken by Nintendo that hime literally developed a split personality.
didn't the people on the other thread already explained to you what's happening, jesus christ dude get a life.
It's Eric anon, he's not going to stop.
I know, I know, he's been extra obnoxious today.
>ps5 didn't even make it to the top 100
Oof.
>AND EVEN THE PS5 IS AHEAD
It's one listing versus four. And the PS5 is only ahead by a couple of ranks of the top Switch listing in spite of that.
That's actually really bad for the PS5.

non-binary is mental state (delusion), not physical

was hoping it was some Igor monstrosity with a beefy body and a girl's head
add troony stuff no one buys
>there is still Soulless ACKers 2 shills right now
It's just Eric
Real issue with DQ is how much cookie cutter fantasy it is, sure still is a ridiculous solid franchise but even with toriyama art sticking out it's hard to catch attention since west never got till much later when FF solidified the genre.
Also every goddamned Isekai borrow from it.
The first four games did come out in the west, they were ignored.
I've never played a Persona game before but I can confirm that they are shit and boring
I have played a Persona game, and I can confirm that they are shit and boring.
Switch sales were averaging 100k a week at this point in 2019, now averaging about 40k. The Switch is only gonna do like 6m this holiday.
>snoys win one week by barely 200 units
>they claim it's the doom of Nintendoom
>pokemon vs söy of war next time
Next week is gonna be meltdown
Let the gays gloat.
It'll be a fun week.
I'm getting flashbacks when they were celebrating Persona on PC and Xbox just to get at Switch. Everyone told them it was coming to Switch but they didn't listen and seethed so hard when it happened and had to backtrack two weeks of shitposting then went straight back to attacking Xbox and PC people.
There's zero doubt in my mind that Eric will try to ignore this and claim that he didn't do anything then go on about how sales don't matter when Pokemon dominates.
That was a fun time.
I just wat code vein frankly gaysona can go to hell. God I hate bamco. Neir's autopotato was fun at least, thanks square, only took 5 frickin years ya c**ts.
So why are Sony fans so mentally ill?
They're not, but you keep seeing them everywhere.

Tick tock
God of War Ranarok honestly stands to be a very big seller and will more than likely move playstation systems a whole bunch.
Sony has really taken this third person genre that started on PS3 and really perfected the gameplay aspects over time. Now there's no longer unskippable cutscenes and things will play out while the player is in control of the character or it seamlessly switches from cutscene to character. There's very little downtime where you're just waiting for a scene to play out.
God of War Ragnarok seems to be around 70 hours and people seem to really be loving the side quests and shit. And all of them are not story sequences which means it's going to be a very content rich 70 hours.
>and will more than likely move playstation systems a whole bunch
I kinda doubt since it's coming to ps4 as well
>and really perfected the gameplay aspects over time.
It was perfected long before they adopted it. In fact, they've just made it worse.
>move playstation systems a whole bunch
>1 PS5 and PS5 GoW please!
>"Sorry no systems in months, wait until next year or something"
>1 copy of GoW PS4 then!
>perfected the gameplay aspects over time
>starts talking about seamless cutscenes
>movie-loving audience cares more about the cutscenes than the gameplay itself
This is why visual novels are leaving Japan and coming to America.
You're missing the point that any type of story doesn't come at the expense of gameplay like a Kojima game. The game has one constant camera angle the whole time.
>any type of story doesn't come at the expense of gameplay like a Kojima game
>Make a new Star Ocean
>worse designs and gameplay than a 4 year old already defunct mobage
>flops
Many such cases
It's taking sony around 17 hours to sell through 100,000 consoles. It's a real sign that the PS5 is picking up steam in much the same way the PS4 did entering it's second year.
Finally Japan is free from Shitch menace. MH6 and SQ12 being PS5 exclusive games is inevitable at this point. We save Japan bros
Switch Pro will never happen and there won't be a new console before 2025

Guys should I watch playthrough of Soul Hackers 2 or wait for Switch port?
Denuvo already won against pirates and I'm too stringy to buy a PS4 game
Is the story any good?
I'd just ignore it in general. Hell if you're really jonesing for a monster tamer of stone kind, I don't even think SH2 falls under that anymore, you'd be better off with pokemon.
That's how bad it is.
Wait for a port. The story is decent but not worth sitting through a playthrough for. Wait until you can actually play it.

Based.
>Elden Ring practically outsold all the JRPG this year
And they say it's not "weeb".
Not surprising, since Elden Ring is the perfect marvel movie for the common audience.
In Japan too, ER sold over 1 million.
Splatoon sold 3 million though
>westernized open world schlop pleases normalgays
wow

Not when Pokemon Legends Arceus exists.

Kek remember when nincels were literally celebrating that ps was gonna kill itself with the price hike? The hilarious thing about this, is that even if the shitty tablet faced "shortages" it still doesn't change the fact that the PS5 went on to sell more than what it usually does at almost 40k. With the narrative that goes on around here, you'd think the PS5 would've still sold less than the shitty tablet if it had shortage problems because it was averaging 15k before the price hike

Why aren't Sonygays buying 3rd party games?
They are just not in Japan, that's why Square Enix said Overseas sales are taking priority, just like Atlus, Sega, and Bandai have also said.
>During discussions with each company after the financial results for the first quarter, I heard several times that customers might be buying PCs because PS5 game software wasn't selling well. interviewed by the media).
>In conclusion, it is a fact that PS format games are not selling well not only in Japan but also overseas.
https://jp.gamesindustry.biz/article/2210/22102802/
you missed this part
>(1) Game titles, especially AAA, do not affect the success or failure of
hardware in Japan. AAA is said to have a big impact on hardware sales, as the Sony Group worries about Activision Blizzard's CoD not being released on the PlayStation platform. However, PS4, which had Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, and FF, was not successful, and Switch, which was at a stage where it could not be said that all these third-party titles were available, was very strong. It seems that third-party AAA has no influence on the success or failure of hardware in Japan.
So big titles have zero effect on hardware in japan and it just boils down to brand names.
No wonder Japan is dying.
Exactly the opposite: You won't win in Japan by having brand names like CoD, FIFA, or Madden.
So it looks like the scenario where there are no Japanese games on Sony's console and No call of duty either isn't happening.
And with the God of War sales it's going to push the PS5 closer to that 30 million sold mark sooner rather than later.
Looks like the same RPG series I've been buying since the PS1 era are still going to be on the PS5 for years to come.
>and No call of duty either isn't happening.
Where did you get this from?
Microsoft said they'll continue shipping COD to playstation as long as there's a Playstation.
Source?
We won, Sonychads.
Now with Comrade Lvla, we are gonna win even harder.
It's winter for the murimutts!

So when did Eric get mindbroken into creating Victor? Didn't manage to see it.
It was hilarious every time someone called him Eric he would respond with
>I'm not Eric I'm Victor, short for victory
Is there an archive of that thread? I want to check it out.
I'll do you one better
https://arch.b4k.co/v/search/text/%22Victor%2C%20short%20for%20victory%22/page/3/
Hold up I read through a bunch of these archive threads, are people really nursing a hateboner against sony and hoping they fail because they closed Japan Studio? The same Japan studio that deliver bomb like the two Knack games, The Last guardian which was a piece of shit that was being worked on since 2007, and gravity Rush which failed in both Japan and Overseas? This was their entire output on the PS4 as a developer with team Asobi making the only game that didn't do badly and that was for VR.
Are people also unaware that Kaz and everyone oother one of the Japanese higher ups wanted to do this after Japan bungled the fricking PS3?
https://www.wsj.com/articles/sony-moves-playstation-headquarters-to-california-1453794813
>The same Japan studio that deliver bomb like the two Knack games,
Want to know a secret? Knack was made by the western team Asobi, the team that took over after the majority of the originals left.
The people that took over were the ones who worked on the 3 Astrobot games prior. They helped on Knack but they were not project leads.
>The Last guardian which was a piece of shit
develop taste
Not me, I have a hateboner against snoy since the day they banned Omega Labyrinth Z and censored anime tiddies.
Are Nier Automata, Star Ocean 6, Atelier games etc censored? I see their breasts jist fine
They seem to be recovering nintendo ysed to be even worse in the past
What?
That I still see weeb games making it lately
Only mainstream shit does, anything niche is discarded and literally nothing ever close to OLZ ever came out unscathed on PS recently.
Samurai Maiden is confirmed tame because it doesnt even have a mature rating.
Still planning on buying it, on PC of course.
I'm still bewildered that Sony censored doki doki.
>nintendo ysed to be even worse in the past
Nah the fact that the rating boards for video games didn't exist back then justified Nintendo's actions. Nowadays Sony has absolutely no reason to regulate third parties and to make it even worse where Nintendo's was across the board and unbiased Sony are only censoring small third party Japanese developers.
>it's okay when nintendo does it
Yes, yes it was.
Then they immediately stopped once the ratings boards were implemented.
I'm just hoping Samurai Maiden makes it out unscathed.
They barely show pantis. It's pre censored.
What does it mean appealing to global audience? Are they one country? Do the japs know what interests them or just add Black folk and gays and think this is what people want? Hoping to see Forspoken bomb.
Global audience is a complete misnomer, it's really just for what people percieve as what the general western audience wnat, but that's so full of it, western audience doesn't know what it wants, they don't know what they don't know, Nintendo's strength is giving you something you don't know that you want.
>Bayonetta 3 – 41,285
Bayonutters ... it's over ...
>tfw I've lived long enough to see autists trying to argue Nintendo games aren't Japanese in order to excuse Japanese 3rd parties being morons
That's modern Ganker for you. We really should have tried harder with the gatekeeping back in 2013.
Please do explain how Zelda is japanese.
Not him but it was quite literally inspired by a Japanese boy spelunking in Japanese caves.
I miss the part when Link is a japanese boy.
No it was inspired by already existing games
Zelda was inspired by the plethora of already existing dungeon crawlers on PC. Zelda II tried to ape closer to that style which is why it's a real black sheep of the series.
People buy Nintendo products for their corporate brand in much the same way people buy Apple.
There's nothing American about Apple's products and American culture has very little to do with their output.
>People buy Nintendo products for their corporate brand in much the same way people buy Apple.
You're thinking of Sony, that's why their software isn't selling.
They had no first party releases last quarter but between Ragnarok, and TLOU having it's TV show premiere in January it's going to show a major rise in their first party software sales next report.
>between Ragnarok, and TLOU having it's TV show premiere in January it's going to show a major rise in their first party software sales next report.
Unlikely. PlayStation software sales in general are in the toilet and a TV show is just going to take attention away.
Considering that a mid tier show like the Witcher boosted sales majorly for wild hunt, a more premium production backed by HBO will most definitely boost the sales of their TLOU PS5 Remake
>Considering that a mid tier show like the Witcher boosted sales majorly for wild hunt
Which it didn't. Do you want to know what did though?
The switch version that came out that year, turns out portability is a decent selling point.
>Rise of the Ronin

This is considered western by Nintentroons while Zelda is considered "japanese".
>made by TN's American branch
>not westerm
I don't even know TN has an american branch.
Keep seething, idiot.
Rise of Ronin is being made by all members of Team Ninja, not one specific branch. Sony's Japan XDEV is helping on the project and they have an office in Japan itself to collaborate with the Japanese members of Team Ninja.
>Sony's Japan XDEV
Comprised of mostly British developers.
How is this surprising Mark Cerney worked on all 5 of the PlayStation. They hire white people.
