I think it was a pretty big game everywhere but in 6th grade EVERYONE I was in school with was playing far cry 4. Even the popular girls. It was the first time I felt like I was in a community of people. Been searching for that feeling ever since. There was one kid that was watching some youtuber play it and didn't own it himself and we all made fun of him. I feel bad for him he didn't deserve that he just didn't have parents who would buy it for him.

Damn, I'm 22 now and I still haven't felt that feeling again. Not in the same way. I guess those first few weeks of helldivers 2 came close. My dad told me that's how it was when halo 2 came out. He said I would sit on the couch and watch him play online for hours with all his gamer friends.

There was a period in the late 2000s where it was uncool to play video games once you were in high school where it just flipped almost overnight and then the next year, even if you were a preppy cheerleader, you were openly talking about games and were only uncool if it was the only thing you talked about

Same thing happened with anime in the mid 2010s
I mentioned to students on year about Attack on Titan and only one weeb admitted to knowing what that was
Maybe two years later, there were literally cheerleader and footballers wearing Mikasa Ackerman, Super Saiyan Blue Goku, and Ryuko Matoi t-shirts
Also one student of mine, a teen girl no less, literally streams GTA Online and kept bringing it up every few days. 15 years ago, the preppy girls would make fun of the awkward kids who admittedly to playing video games and now the preps are making money streaming
I almost miss my own childhood in the 90s when you were an outcast nerd if you even knew what that was

it was 2001, and our school went on a FFA or FBLA trip to Gatlinburg, TN for some competition
at night we were set off to go eat or do whatever but about 8 of us dudes stayed in our hotel room, ordered pizza, and played NCAA Football 2000 on my cousins PlayStation
it was fricking awesome and we were up past 4 am, no one had beat my cousin all night, until this freshman Tommy finally beat him and we egged him on celebrating and he ran up and down the halls of the hotel screaming “I BEAT BIG L! I BEAT BIG L!”

Literally all existence this game has been erased from history.

There's some specific version of this education DOS game I think called "Mental Math Games" that had a competitive LAN multiplayer Tron Lightcycle-like game, but you had to solve math problems change directions. This game was huge at my elementry school in the mid to late 90s. It had some other games like a maze where you controlled mouse, or one where you had to collect cheese (pic related), but the "Cycles" game was by far the most popular in my school.

The math problems would get harder depending on your grade level, so kids in 5th grade would smurf to get the accounts from 1-2nd graders that had simple problems like 1+2=? and just dominate. Shit was nuts.

Why has no one been able to find this version of that game?
