Having played both for a while: There's just so much more shit to do in RS3.
Player voting killed OSRS's traditionalism which I felt was the main reason to play it. Now it's just an inferior version.
Rs3 is better. Osrs isn't runescape 2 and it never will be. Move on entirely or play 3, let the zoomers have the other abomination.

Except it hasnt been dropping and has in fact be increasing steadily since before covid, covid gave it a large boost and its been steady ever since. Also RS3 has consistently been more profitable than OSRS even with the less players, its not going anywhere and will be around longer than OSRS.

That's always been a thing though. Server performance has gotten steadily worse over the years, and now can't handle more than a couple hundred players in a world before it becomes unbearable. It's not the tick rate.
It don't matter, except if you're getting into OSRS you should know it's not even OSRS anymore. It's just RS3-lite with very limited paths forward which is why they are branching out and really trying to make RS3 work.
Runescape has always been like this. Not a full second though that might be you. If you click close to the server tick-rate it will react faster, farther and it will be slower. The EoC abilities just make you interact with the game more so you feel the lag of Runescape in general more often.
600ms ticks combined with shit servers that will never be improved
rs3 gets laggy when you play on a world with more than 200 players and it has been this way for years
I mainly played RS3 but after maxing and completing all of the quests I started running out of things to do so I started playing OSRS. I like the overall vibe more in OSRS but it took me this long to play it because I just didn't want to start over from scratch.

osrs one sounds comfy, grand exchange won't have too much on it so you'll be encouraged to get your own stuff, without locking you out of trading completely like ironman mode

It's not just the developers, the player base is like that as well. Nobody communicates in any meaningful way ingame, it's all discord servers. Want/need to do something that requires other players? Unless it's so popular that you can just walk in and find people doing that something already you have to use discord to find a group. If that something is a boss you better believe that you'll need to be vetted in a loot council server first.
that's how WoW and EQ worked decades ago, that's what people want. That is by definition "Old school". Look up "Dragon Kill Points" and many of us suffered through that shit, excel sheets and all.

How can I make enough money to continue affording bonds with that amount of time? Or as f2p so I can stockpile and buy bonds as I like?
I'm not sure how the RS3 fans got here but they're trying to sell you a ticket to a sinking ship. RS3 has 1/6th the players OSRS has and you can check this on the RS website itself. Every month it drops harder.
