Thats news to you? Get on my level. You probably dont even know about the celebrity dominatrix that brags about mind breaking the wachowski boys into transitioning. This is common Ganker lore.
That's not the theory why it was intentionally bad moron. It's why only one of the Wachowski's came back to direct it because the studio pretty much did a 'do this fourth movie or else' on them.
she does not make a statment as far as we can tell, and questions are neither right nor wrong, without context and subject.
you ask whether there can be games made badly on purpose, the answer is of course yes, but the problem with that is that you need to make the game deliberately bad while hiding that fact from pretty much everyone you work with and especially who you work for.
technically a game made bad on purpose is a product that achieved its intent, so it is a success, while a game made to be good that turned out to be bad is a failure in more regards than one.
This. Then he does a bunch of interviews with his gay hat on and says "you know, the producer didnt want me to put sexy anime girls in my game... but I did anyway >:)" and his legions of loyal, mentally moronic fans all cheer.
lets be clear here, most people who are fans of MGSV are completely aware that the game is unfinished completely unintentionally, you are talking about a tiny minority of insane people.
God I hate Drakengardgays so fricking much >Play first game >"God this plays like shit" >Say it's shit >"NOOO YOU DON'T GET IT IT'S INTENTIONALLY SHITTY"
Fricking mindfricked cucks, the lot of them.
the boys is a terribly written deconstruction and and is now a small franchise just like DoD
sometimes the idea just has to get through better than the execution
The Boys is somewhat popular because it's macabre with well executed special effects. Normalgays love that shit. >muh idea...
The desperate cries of an idea cuck. Execution always matters more than ideas, which is why Yoko has a grand total of one game sane people care about.
the boys was originally a comic of an edgy author who hated superheroes and it was fricking trash and is still trash after Amazon picked it up for an adaptation
my point was that at the end of the day there was something for people to latch onto those franchises for them to keep getting shit and its certainly not the gameplay or writing quality
Nope.
But understand this: You can make the presented dialogue as a response to the flaws IN the game. You don't have to make it as the first asset.
Its not shit. But it lacks the budget to do MORE.
And the selling point of 1 and 3 is that it portrays human suffering and negativism, in a way media rarely bother to touch.
Its the exact opposite of "kill him, and you are just as bad"
I've played worse Dynasty Warrior games than Drakengard.
Its still so early in the genres infancy that the Man vs Army concept was novel, and it plays it off well, especially by contrasting it to Dragon vs Army.
Or contrasted by the flying sections, which are pretty good.
>3 is just a game about angry lesbian kratos.
And that is a good selling point.
Yoko Taro specializes in making bad games. He's a writer not a developer. It's the same problem most Japanese "auteurs" have where they make SHIT games but with an interesting premise.
You don't play yoko taro games for the gameplay you play them for the batshit insane stuff that goes on in them. No game Yoko taro has made has had great gameplay not even automata.
Turns out that making money off one off leads to chasing the success. The problem of making a job of a one off is that there isn't a lot more to draw from.
She basically made 20 videos before running out of content. And then forced herself to do half hour intro lets plays and twitch streaming to keep raking in that sweet youtube dosh. With some reviews or essays turned into video form sprinkled in.
No. As someone who deeply loves them, all Drakengard games would be elevated if the gameplay was better (besides, "the gameplay is bad on purpose" is bullshit).
Nier Automata had better gameplay and more polish.
As a result it sold better, and did better long term.
So that is the truth.
Drakengard 1/3/Nier Replicant is mediocre games carried on the batshit insanity presented in the narrative and feedback as you play the game.
Drakengard 1 is honestly fine, maybe a bit unpolished but the brainless murder of the ground missions works with Caim as the main character, and the air missions are pretty fun (mostly, the boss fights are shit). D3 would really benefit from a Replicant-style remake, and I doubt Taro asked the developers to make the game run at 15 fps.
Yeah. We all responded to any criticism of the best game ever, pic related, with "it's bad because it's supposed to be bad." People that hated it missed the point.
A game absolutely can be bad on purpose but Drakengard isn't, Taro or some of the other devs have said straight out in interviews that they just didn't have the skills, experience or budget to do better than they did. There was no element of "hey wouldn't it be cool if the game wasn't fun?" in the development.
The actual games that are bad on purpose are generally shitpost indie games forgotten by everyone.
Are we talking about parts of a game, like how some horror games have shit combat to give you a false sense of security and emphasis that you are in an abnormal situation and your character is tired, weak, scared and never been trained to fight?
Or the entire game is shit, like when publishers want a dev team to fail so they can dissolve them and absorb the talent into their better dev teams and trim off the useless fat to save costs?
Some people say that Matrix 4 was bad on purpose, but I never heard of this happening with video games.
>Matrix 4
what the frick? when did that happen
Better off not knowing. It was sub-dumpsterfire tier awful.
>Look up Matrix 4
>Director: Lana Wachowski
>Oh, did one of the Wachowskis have a daughter?
>Google the name
Holy shit that's bad.
Matrix 4 is just a $190 million shitpost.
That in itself is a work of art, even if the movie isn't worth watching.
Making a game shit on purpose doesn't make it better, it actually makes it worse.
she does not make a statment as far as we can tell, and questions are neither right nor wrong, without context and subject.

Making Bad games on purpose is Yoko Taro's MO
This. Then he does a bunch of interviews with his gay hat on and says "you know, the producer didnt want me to put sexy anime girls in my game... but I did anyway >:)" and his legions of loyal, mentally moronic fans all cheer.
Right about what? All I see is a question.
moron
According to the fans of MGSV and their constant claiming that the game was half assed on purpose to give you phantom pain you'd think so
lets be clear here, most people who are fans of MGSV are completely aware that the game is unfinished completely unintentionally, you are talking about a tiny minority of insane people.
God I hate Drakengardgays so fricking much

Fricking mindfricked cucks, the lot of them.
it's a deconstruction of musou games you fricking pleb
Deconstruction isn't an excuse to make your gameplay fricking terrible, and I don't recall god awful flight simulators being a musou mainstay.
the boys is a terribly written deconstruction and and is now a small franchise just like DoD

sounds great.

If you ignore how ass the controls are and how boring the gameplay is, sure.
I play it for mikhail and his poop jokes.
When characters begin to be self aware that the game is bad you know you have a pretentious stinker in your hands.
except it was not? the game is fairly simple to play
>that hint of bush
Now this is podracing
Fantastic.
Of course you can make a game bad on purpose.
Yoko Taro specializes in making bad games. He's a writer not a developer. It's the same problem most Japanese "auteurs" have where they make SHIT games but with an interesting premise.
I present to you..
TWIN PEAKS: THE VIDEO GAME
Now with
WORKING BED SHEATS
Jank everywhere
Rural town life
A wild conspiracy as the plot
Random murder
You don't play yoko taro games for the gameplay you play them for the batshit insane stuff that goes on in them. No game Yoko taro has made has had great gameplay not even automata.
what happened to that female youtuber who loved Drakengard?
ValkyrieAurora ?
Turns out that making money off one off leads to chasing the success. The problem of making a job of a one off is that there isn't a lot more to draw from.

bummer, I loved her voice and it's pretty rare to find women who are this invested in games
Shes a vtuber and unfortunately is successful through it
Really? Who is she now?
Nerine
nerines00?
>NOOO THE GAME IS SUPPOSED TO BE BAD
Yoko Tarogays are mentally ill.
No. As someone who deeply loves them, all Drakengard games would be elevated if the gameplay was better (besides, "the gameplay is bad on purpose" is bullshit).

Yes bro a product that they have to sell is bad on purpose
Drakengard 3 is camp, it's just that gamers don't know what camp is
japs don't even know what camp is, to them it's 100% meant to be taken seriously
Yeah. We all responded to any criticism of the best game ever, pic related, with "it's bad because it's supposed to be bad." People that hated it missed the point.
>Well, is she right?
Yes with pic related
A game absolutely can be bad on purpose but Drakengard isn't, Taro or some of the other devs have said straight out in interviews that they just didn't have the skills, experience or budget to do better than they did. yoko taro in english is just 8-4 fanfiction
>she
never
But Drakengard 3 was the only good Yoko Taro game
I am convinced Alexis Kennedy of Sunless Sea and Cultist Simulator deliberately makes his games as unfunnas possible
