Well, that happened
Did they set a release date or are they saying they aren't going to release it until the one Ukraine's over?
Remember Six Days in Fallujah?
I just Googled that it's a game I don't know what does that have to do with this?
it got canned because there was still fighting going on in Fallujah at the time of announcement. It's not really the same as Advance Wars since Fallujah was a specific example but the devs are super autistic
It is cancelled. They're just never going to admit it.
Franchise is getting shelved for good this time.
Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training (2013) was delayed all the way forward to 2017 in Europe after years of "TBA" listings. The original Advance Wars was delayed from 2001 to 2002 then 2004 in Japan.
That womens switch still has the the ticket file to decrypt the pre load game unless nintendo also remote deleted that too.
Nintendo very likely made sure to do that. I wonder if others have the encrypted preload but it doesn't make sense to bother too much about that remake at this point, it's as soulless and shitty as it can get.
My heart was broken a bit when the original Japanese artist started sharing detailed artwork from his work on the game, and the difference is night and day, even for the cover art which was badly traced over his own work. They couldn't even get him or get the game released in Japan, that's how bad it is.
Nintendo and IS clearly don't care about it at all. Only reason it even existed was WF doing the work. Not surprising they wouldn't care about the original artist.
No, it didn't.
Why do you keep making this thread? Do you just want to have thinly veiled off-topic threads for Ukraine? What's your angle here moron?
I’m convinced this game is just a tax write off at this point. The Ukraine excuse just doesn’t hold up anymore, especially with so many other war themed games releasing since its delay; hell, even some first party Nintendo games have been far more gratuitous lately. Xenoblade 3 in particular features child soldiers, public executions, mass graves, etc.
I call bullshit
What's a tax write off
Something you take to lower your income/gross profit on your tax return to lower your tax liability.
While it may not have been intended as a tax write off at first, as Nintendo now has a game they've spent money and possibly even inventory (if carts got printed) that they can no longer release, they could reasonably take a write off of some sort for it as an operating loss.
It still doesn't make sense. So intentionally makikg commercial failures is profitable? Wouldn't AlphaDream be the richest developers then?
Again I doubt it was intentional, but I fully expect Nintendo to do it now since they will never release it. Also if you want to split hairs Reboot wasn't a commercial failure since it never released.
In the case of AlphaDream it wouldn't have worked because they weren't making money anywhere else to offset the loss.
Not intentionally making a failure, but if you've already 70% failed it makes more sense financially to accept defeat and harvest tax loss rather than spend more R&D money, not declare it as a loss, not get any tax discount and over 50% chance of failure regardless.
Any analyst worth their salary would advise you to can it and take the loss. It's over. Ukraine excuse was clearly bullshit
People also forget Nintendo has access to the eshop preorder data, so they already have a good estimate for how it'll sell. And that was before delaying it twice. They probably already know they'd not make much profit on it at this point.
Metal Slug Tactics looks to be in a similar limbo so its hard to say.
yeah but xenoblade doesn't have "war" in the title so normalfags won't cry about it being on walmart shelves
Your fucking game was supposed to release in September 2022 but got pushed up to July 2022, wish I cared about your series but man I can’t stand your fanbase, smaller fanbases like Advance Wars, Golden Sun and F-Zero are more chill.
Honestly, fair. Xeno fans suck ass and there are many days when I hate being associated with them
What is this post supposed to mean.
Xenoblade 3 released earlier than it was supposed to
It released early because it was ready and Splatoon 3 wasn't.
What’s the peak of Xenoblade?
What’s the lowest point of Xenoblade?
How did you get into Xenoblade?
I got into Xenoblade through 2, but have since gone on to play every game in the Xeno series besides X, which I plan on getting to soon (I'm a storyfag so I put it off until later). When it comes to the blade games, I adore them all, but 1 was my least favorite simply because I found the gameplay to be a bit bland compared to the other titles. It's still a wonderful game, but the experience of playing it was just a little too dull in the grand scheme of things. 2 will always be my favorite, as it introduced me to what has quickly become my favorite franchise in all of video games, but I will admit that it isn't without it's faults.
As far as I'm concerned, we're living through the peak of Xenoblade right now, and the series is only going to continue to thrive so long as Monolith keeps up its ambition.
How anyone can defend that mess of a game, let alone have it as their favourite is something that I can never comprehend.
>What’s the peak of Xenoblade?
Xenoblade 1 I think is the most consistently good from start to finish. Very few low points overall.
X is probably the best overall xeno game in terms of depth of its systems but it's an acquired taste and I hate the music.
>What’s the lowest point of Xenoblade?
2, but not for the fanservice, couldn't give a shit about that. It was the gatcha, overdrive protocols, affinity chart and tiger tiger that made it a fucking chore to play. Torna is so good because it trims most of that BS out. NG+ fixes a lot too but that's a long time to slog through shit systems. Also the game is terrible at teaching you how to actually fight effectively (not that you need to until postgame and DLC)
>How did you get into Xenoblade?
1 on the Wii
>Nintendo games have been far more gratuitous lately. Xenoblade 3 in particular features child soldiers, public executions, mass graves, etc.
Russian and Ukrainian soldiers not are genetically engineered 8-years-old kids with flutes
What mission in the original four gave you the most trouble? For me it was Crystal Calamity in DS, the one with the nine missiles you have to shoot, I cleared it on my tenth try. Besifes that I've beaten most campaign missions without much difficulty, honourable mentions being 14 in DC against Carter. Dark Conlict's AI feels like it plays perfectly at times.
This lady always upsets me, makes me wonder if she was an undercover Wayforward Employee. Nobody else would’ve known that you could still get the game on a Switch Lite even before the delay.
this remake will end up being lost media because this lady did not sell her switch to somebody who knew how to install a modchip.
I'm sure some day some disgruntled WayForward staffer will leak a copy.
In about 20 years.
Is there even a remote reason to believe this isn't fake as hell
It had some previously unseen footage with what was clearly Egoraptors bad voice over for Max, which we knew he was voicing.
It also looked really janky like a day one patch was missing for what its worth.
Im glad it didnt release. Fuck that moron.
Please tell me this isn't true. I deeply wish that asshole stopped being relevant
Very bad voice acting. This is Arin Hanson btw.
Very bad voice acting. This is Arin Hanson btw.
That's fucking awful. That's one of the easiest lines to voice, it requires 0 context to tell it's a guy barking orders at the frontline, but there's literally no emotion whatsoever. This goes beyond "not playing the videogame", this is straight up someone going mask off but the mask was for hiding their retardation.
The fact that the game is not available to download at at rom/iso site ever.
Advance Conflicts WOOHOO
They will never mention it again and quietly shelve it.
>3 poz-eman titles between the announcement of this game and it still not launching
its not coming out
They are reskinning it to become a spin off of that fantasy indie game that was already an advance war clone.
It was revealed to me in a dream btf.
except it factually didn't since it never released
Except it didn't. It didn't happen. Misleading OP.
When is the metal slug strategy game coming out
It seems to be in the same void as Reboot, but probably not indefinitely since I doubt SNK cares that much.
Nintendo can't seem to get over the Blue Moon = Russia thing.
What's fucked up is that this game was SUPPOSED to release in Dec 2021, delayintmg the game til Spring ultimately killed the game. So all the blame is on Wayforward.
The real fucked up thing is most of the leaks (which did subsequently get shown to be right) said the delay was primarily for... voice acting.
Geez that's terrible and completely ill fitting. Max deserved a way better voice.
Wasn't Max considered one of if not the strongest CO too? Guess they had to nerf him somehow.
In AW1 yes, in AW2 he was nerfed.
I still don't know wtf a CO Power is supposed to be in-universe
AW2 Anniversary is coming up in case anyone cares
Nintendo sure won’t
If posting these becomes a trend in these threads, I'm all for it.
still waiting on Lash
Still need to get DoR as well.
We're never going to see Reboot Lash.
Don't hurt my dreams
yeah, she was next in line for blackification
Herman didn't end up getting blacked though, he becomes a leathery old beach hog in the second game which is why he's pissed that war were declared again. It really is too bad Kuju went under because Battalion Wars is a gem.
Would be better than what we have now
I'll never stop laughing at how angry and whiny Gankerirgins get over the art style and portraits. You'd think they raped the Gankerirgins, ate their pets, and took all of their money from their bank accounts with the way this place loses its shit harder than reseterans seeing big game titties.
Ummm what happened?
Made a meme to shit on Fire Emblem Fans a few days after the game was announced in the June 2021 Direct in Advance Wars but I guess it aged badly, wanted to share it anyway.
I like both and you making this shit is why we haven't gotten the game
>Another Fire Emblem announced and released in the time since AW was announced, delayed and then cancelled.
I was going to say it as a joke but I honestly wouldnt mind a FEH clone for Advance Wars. All they need to do is put more awoogas in the game and it'll practically revive the franchise.
Nintendo's not going to care about reviving the franchise after this. There's no financial reason to invest in a franchise that can get delayed due to real world events (this isn't even the first time this has happened to Advance Wars!) when they can just shit out more FE.
We really do live in a Society…
They cancelled it because Mangs is an evil chud and they can't let his channel grow
>channel is growing anyways
its sad how mekkah is still mad over this.
Mangs will be Marathon streaming EnGAYge when it comes and will do a video of it reviewing it and telling you whether or not you should buy it.
The main reason I want this game is the music. AW music is great despite the sound quality limitations of GBA/DS, and the new versions of these themes have sounded pretty good so far.
>mfw the new artstyle
why even bother with this crap? just emulate the original release
This, I've got all 4 Advance Wars on my Steamdeck no need for crappy switch version
I play 1 and 2 on my 3DS.
I played a lot of the original on my GBA back in the day. I don't really care for remakes or think they rape the childhood. But this artstyle looks like absolute garbage and horseshit. They were better off just orchestrating ost and upscaling original sprites. Everyone would call it a lazy cashgrab but they would at least save money. Instead they spend money on shit nobody will appreciate and the franchise will go back into the grave.
Absolutely agree on them upscaling the sprites
On the brightside there's no way Nintendo is ever going to contract WayForward again.
>putin sees new advance war remake
>then sees art style
>putin gets enraged
>putin sees that arin hanson is voice acting a character in aw remake
>putin invades ukraine to stop aw remake from getting released
Whose stupid fucking idea was to make the remake that generic 3D looking bullshit? They could literally port the games and it would be better.
Probably was WayForward's idea given neither IS or Nintendo gave a single fuck about AW.
Someone at WayForward must give really good head.
Can't allow this game to end up in Russian hands. Imagine if their retarded generals played it. They would know not to make stupid 60km lines of vehicles on a string of terrain with a bridge on the front and a bridge on the back.
I mean, I had better terrain awareness and better sense of tactics when I was 10, playing it on my GBA.
They should just be glad Ukraine didn't have a Grit player.
>can't even include the original versions of the game as a toggle
fucking shit game
when FUCKING EA beats you in the area of remastering something you know it's time to reevaluate your priorities.
admittedly C&CR feels like a fluke, but still, imagine getting bodied by EA of all companies.
TibSun remake when?
>when FUCKING EA beats you in the area of remastering something you know it's time to reevaluate your priorities.
They even beat Blizzard. Just think about it for a moment. We live in a timeline where EA released an RTS (remake) that is above and beyond an RTS (remake) that Blizzard released. Still feels weird, man.
What's fucked up about is that CnC Remastered, WC3 remastered, and Starcraft Remastered were all done by the same outsourced studio. How does that happen
My guess is a) it was more Petroglyph's talent going into the project than Lemon Sky (the guys who did WC3R), and b) EA had actual QA people look over the project.
It is still absolutely insane to consider, that EA of all people made the best strategy game remaster in recent memory, and had the goddamn WC3R studio doing it.
Soon, brother. Soon.
Just give advance wars more waifus and it will become a gigantic hit.
that's crazy that a game that was fully finished and ready to release just got quietly cancelled like this due to the news. it will be neat to see when it leaks someday.
Not the first time Nintendo has done something like this, though the other famous examples were due to end of console life timing (Earthbound Beginnings and Star Fox 2).
Other games from other companies have been shit canned/delayed indefinitely close to the finish line due to real world events though. Disaster Report 4's decade long delay due to the Fukushima earthquake is probably the most famous.
Until we see a trailer for WayForwards next game to basically confirm they’ve moved on, I’m going to assume it’s just going to get dropped as an “AVAILABLE TODAY” surprise on a random direct.
The question is if they would have overhauled graphics by then or they’ve just sat on the same build of the game for a year now.
>or they’ve just sat on the same build of the game for a year now.
This one. Maybe they'll have done some bug fixes or balancing but that's it. They aren't going to reskin the entire game in a year just because some people don't like the artstyle. Plus it's not the first time Nintendo has just sat on a completely finished game. From the leak, we know that FE Engage was finished for like an entire year and Nintendo was just sitting on it.
>tfw was interested in this when it was announced, seeing as i like fire emblem and all
>this gets cancelled
>later, i buy the games (and dual strike) on the wii u once they announced the eshop was going down
>now i'm not even sure if i want to buy this, if it ever comes out at this point, to support the series anymore
>now i'm not even sure if i want to buy this, if it ever comes out at this point, to support the series anymore
That's a really good point. It's a dead end for the series.
It would be one thing for this to be a rerelease that also includes original newly-designed maps or additional quests that inspire faith that IS/WF will create more content like that if this sells well. Even a dumb additional campaign with Neil giving Andy war strategy lessons and then the battles are the entire Famicom Wars original campaign (which were already remade as bonus maps for the most part in 1/2/DS) and maybe 4/5 completely new maps here and there. The game's code allows for neutral headquarters but it never was used, they could at no expense promote that as a new mechanic (just like Yoshi's Island GBA bonus levels are collections of cut content from the original laid out as interesting level design)
Maybe an original graphics mode with the original art upscaled in waifu2x (yes they still have the sources and the watercolor art is gorgeous).
But no, this thing is completely hopeless. Only thing it has going for it is an online mode. What's there to be excited about? More shitty games by WayForward in the Advance Wars series, or worse, other neglected series?
Even if it comes out now (lmao) there's no way Nintendo and IS aren't banishing AW to the deepest part of the Nintendo IP graveyard after how badly Reboot has went.
>Only thing it has going for it is an online mode.
It's going to be garbage compared to AWBW anyway. The map creation limits I remember hearing about with it cucked the absolute shit out of it for online play sessions.
They're just not going to release it unfortunately. It has russian war in it.
Can you sue them for false advertisement?
No, games get cancelled all the time.
Most that could happen here suit wise is if WayForward was retarded and didn't accept payment up front they MIGHT be able to sue for lost wages. But that would imply WayForward has the balls to sue Nintendo and not kneel and ask to be hit again instead.
They cancelled the preorders and refunded them.
The one time Nintendo was scared about false advertisement was when Nintendo of Japan mistakenly used uncensored Wii U version screenshots for the globally censored Switch version and accepted preorders for a very short time, so they went and posted an article that pointed the censorship out, apologized, and said they're accepting refund requests from Japanese customers.
Other than that, Nintendo is no stranger to bullshots and regularly advertises its Switch games with PC build resolution/framerate screenshots and footage, it goes all the way back to Mario 64.
>uncensored Wii U version
For Tokyo Mirage Sessions, forgot to clarify
>From the leak, we know that FE Engage was finished for like an entire year and Nintendo was just sitting on it.
No shit, what really killed the Wii U (the slow start) and obliterated the Wii's momentum after 2009 were quarters that went on with software droughts. For better or worse, for the Switch they're spacing out their releases to fill each month with at least one major game, first or third party.
post favorite themes
>one of the shittiest Co's to ever be conceived
They really now how to make a joke character man.
My copy is on my shelf next to Nintendo Pennant Chase Baseball
