I preferred Kasane's team and route but holy shit, give her Yuito's sword next game or make the knives not feel like total ass to play. Also include more plot elements about Kasane's feet

        >make the knives not feel like total ass to play.
You're supposed to rely more on psychic powers as Kasane. That's how the game is balanced, Yuito has better melee and weaker telekinesis and Kasane is the opposite. There is a reason why the devs want people to play as Yuito first.

NTA but that don't matter, knives play like ass. yuito aint needing his sword next game kek.

Knives are just an excuse to generate "mana" and they do it better than the sword. Most of Kasane's damage comes from throwing trashcans and cars, that's just how it is.
I personally didn't mind it because I played both routes and she offers a slightly different experience because of it Kasane's route being one chapter shorter also helps

Assuming they aren’t just changing things to justify their existence a lot of western marketers seem convinced that anything that looks like a drawing, particularly a Japanese drawing, as cover art runs the risk of losing sales whereas a vaguely game graphics-esque one that doesn’t look anything like the actual game does is somehow better for their prospective audience

        Yes, and that's the issue.
Scarlet Nexus is a goddamn dreadful game that uses the anime aesthetic to try and lure people that enjoyed the far superior Code Vein in.
The story is absolute trash with no stakes whatsoever, with supposed enemies having goddamn tea parties in between hunting each other down with intentent to kill. The setting itself isn't half bad but devolves into muh aliens stupidly.
Characters are pretty shite for the most part. They never seem to move past the archtypes they embody, though Kasane as an MC was fun if nothing else because she was cute in an autistic kind of way. Also the hag was cute too, though again, ruined by a forced betrayal plot.
The gameplay is trash. You barely have anything beyond your basic combo as Kasane. Literally just pressing two buttons. I'll admit I couldn't force myself to finish her route and move onto Yuito's so no idea if he's any better. The combo moves that should, theoretically, provide variation and progression are shat on by the fact you are constantly robbed of your team mates for asinine plot reasons and forced to take team members into missions you might not necessarily fricking like. It's only towards the last two missions that finally they stop doing that shit. Keep in mind that team members and consequently their unique powers/combos have to be levelled so you get fricked on investment you've made towards a certain playstyle. The big power up mode is also worthless but that's not that big a deal.
The game also just has a worse look and aesthetic on just about everything from the world to the boss designs. People might meme on the cathedral of blood from CV but that was one level out of several. CV looks far better.
Scarlet Nexus is legitimately one of the few games I couldn't bring myself to finish. And I can fricking finish anything.

You too huh? I've played through a lot of shitty games like the original Daikatana, not that its anything to boast about, but I also lost interest during halfway of the game and just stopped near the end.

Scarlet Nexus has much better gameplay than Code Vein imo, but I don't even understand why you are comparing them in the first place. Also I disagree about the aesthetic. I liked the look of Code Vein but I thought Scarlet Nexus had a more interesting setting.

            Anonymous

            >much better gameplay
How can you claim this? Again, SN's gameplay is basic, bare bones. You never get any actual skills and abilities that are solely Kasane's (and I assume Yuito's though again, I fully admit I don't know there)
All the variation and character progression is entirely and completely tied to the party members that are constantly switched around and taken from you. And the fact that the strength of said moves and combos depends on leveling and itemization for said characters that you might be utterly ignoring, and the fact sometimes you're saddled with party members that are outright fricking useless in a fight (frick you Kagero you useless shit)
Compare that to CV where it's entirely down to the blood code, can be switched around and customized freely as you desire, so you're free to play whatever you want and switch around instantly without a fuss.
And the fact the CV cast is a far more interesting cast than SN means you're far more likely to enjoy unlocking the blood code abilities by doing the backstory sequences for each character where it applies.

He's the most overpowered party member, lol. Once you unlock the ability to keep the stealth bonus damage when attacking your dps shoots through the roof. He carries so hard that the supped up final boss from the DLC outrights ignores invisibility.

How's he solid? The invisibility does not last long enough. And also, should be noted he's the Kasane team member that's constantly awol the most. He's only available to take with you in 2-3 missions at most.

Code Vein's combat just doesn't feel good. Even with blood codes the combat feels pretty basic and weightless. None of the weapons feel good to use. Scarlet Nexus is pretty simple compared to other "character action games", if you want to call it that, but stringing together combos is fun and I would argue that it has more depth than CV's combat. I agree that the basic attack kind of sucks, but all the other mechanics work really well together. The basic attack is really just supposed to be another tool to use when you are stringing together combos to try and break the enemy. I will admit that it does take a little long for the combat to really open up, but it's very fun when it does. CV's enemies were also not very interesting in terms of gameplay either, they're pretty straightforward for the most part. At least SN has enemies that make you use all the abilities available to you. I found all the party members useful when I played the game but obviously I preferred some over others. Kagero is definitely a good party member though and I'm surprised he was the one you singled out.

                >make you use all the abilities available to you
Which again, at any given time, are constantly gimped for moronic plot reasons
                >stringing together combos
Which is gimped by the fact you're constantly gimped on abilities beyond your basic attack.
                >I'm surprised he was the one you singled out
Out of Kagane's team, you had twintails which gave you the pretty useful time slow (or tecnically you're going faster but whatever), milf's duplication abilities and Shiden's damage boost through eletricity. All of their stuff was very good to have

                Anonymous

It's been a few years since I've played either game, but I don't remember ever having much trouble with the party members they give you in the early game. And like I said before it does take a little long for the combat to really open up, but once you get combo visions and assault visions the combat becomes pretty solid imo. I guess they assumed the basic combat options might be confusing to some people so you are limited to the basic attack, psychokinesis, and the character abilities. And I'll admit that was a moronic decision. But even with that you should be capable of fricking up enemies if you know what you're doing. Kagero is really good at breaking enemies which is probably the most important combat mechanic, and it's also harder to do in the early game. So at least from what I remember he was pretty useful throughout the whole game.

Code Vein is way better than Scarlet Nexus trash. Good combat system and a decent story. I regret spending cash on Scarlet Nexus. It's just tedious weeb bullshit. Not enjoyable to play.

Code Vein looks extremely generic all the way through imo. Scarlet Nexus frontloads the good stuff hard, the first location, the futuristic city, looks amazing, everything else looks like no better than CV, which makes it look like they were trying to trick.
When it comes to area design, SN is basically just a singular corridor... which is arguably better than confusing schizo labyrinths of copy pasted enviroments from CV.

I also somewhat liked Kasane, but also thought the bad writing that permeates the game was especially obvious and silly with her, because for the guy it at least made some sense that he didn't know what was going on, while she works with the other faction who have no reason to keep a lot of information from her, so you just have moments where they don't really answer her when she asks about things, then go away and then later show up again to be like
      >...and now I'm going to tell you the next new story twist I didn't tell you before for no reason!
because the game wants obviously to keep the timing when both protags figure things out balanced. Otherwise Kasane would've known most of the game's story reveals after the first few dialogues she has with her faction.
