So why you use different weapons in f4 pic when they have old laser weapons?
Energy weapons in 3 are excellent, they have part robust military prototype r&d, part elegance, part simplicity.
There were corporations in Fallout, it's only natural there would be many weapon variants, not to mention that these blocky laser weapons are better ergonomically in regards to internal components.
Laser weaponry needs some other things to be safe and practical to use.
I liked the plastic orientation some of the weapons took in FO4. Then they fricked up by making pipe weapons.
I like how we had the AK Chinese edition, mauser and the PTR rifle in FO3 but they pussied out and were probably scared of copyright.
FNV went back to the FO2 roots too and brought in the AR15/10 platform, M1 Garand, 1911...
They could even bring back the FN FAL or even add the G3 but they're gigantic copyright pussies.
I wouldn't mind if they could create firearms that weren't ugly, shitty and impractical.
Wasn't the American Assault Rifle just a Fal magically chambered to 5.56?
It's an HK33
You should be correct, but you're not. Check the placement of the holding pins; it's a G3 chambered in 5.56.
also known as the HK 53.
If you're talking about the one in FO3, then nope; the R91 Assault Rifle is a G3 chambered in 5.56. And before you ask, no, that doesn't just make it G33; that has a different pin layout.
Also the model is literally labeled as a G3 in the game's file system.
Hmm, could have sworn the wood finish and ironsights that it was some fricked up Fn Fal. Maybe it's the mandela effect.
Goddamn look at that polygon count.
Brabo Bebesta
So why did Shitthesda move away from their relatively semi-realistic looking weapons to that fricking abhorrent and absolutely disgusting cartoon looking dogshit in Fallout 4 and 76?
Fallout 3 guns are 200 years old. Fallout 4 guns are newly manufactured, or homemade in case of the pipe guns.
Most weapons in New Vegas are also newly manufactured but they're not all fricking moronic.
While they certainly did move away from the semi-realistic weaponry, I do think that the visual aesthetic style they went with for FO4 lended to making goddamn *everything* looking a bit...plastic-y and/or clay like. The vault jumpsuit looks like rubber.
because beshitsda aren't black isle. it was black isle that had real world cool guns.
Copyright.
But images of the R91 still appear in FO4 and 76 so actually it's mostly just laziness.
I dont know how after all these years there isnt a good pipe weapon replacer
More like they retconned or made new weapons.
If I'm not mistaken the FO1s laser rifle is a sniper and the laser pistol in FO2 is a civilian model and Fallout 3/NV laser pistols are military grade.
The rifle in FO3/NV are also general use rifles and not marksman rifles like the FO1 laser rifle.
Also Fallout 4 has the same laser pistol/rifle and you're a moronic Black person.
Hey moron, that isn't a laser pistol/rifle.
I like the Fallout 3/ New Vegas laser weapons. They have a nice looking Dieselpunk/retrofuture aesthetic to them. All they really needed was actual iron sights to them. However everything in Fallout 4 is absolutely moronic looking
They don't appear to be degrading in any way.
If anything one can say FO1 lasers don't look like lasers, just normal firearms that glow.
take your pick there's a lot. I think fallout 4 was a strong offender.
I'm not even talking about the institutes Lazer guns.
OP is a baiting homosexual
Halo
Bottom looks more like the real thing.
To be fair, comparing this gun with those would be wrong.
Real thing looks fricking stupid.
How so?
So what exactly is wrong in Fallout 4 with guns? I've seen complaints, but not actual in-depth descriptions or meme threads like those that assault shotgun in 3 got.
They all look like fricking shit. Fallout 3 had a nice style to it, it was a palatable retrofuturistic design including the weapons that wasn't obnoxious. Now it looks fricking ugly and the LE WA-HACKY LE 1950's shit is fotcrd into your throat instead of being something from the bygone era that you observe from the posters or listen to the occasional radio song.
They've gone so far backwards in design because homosexuals complained about muh green filter and no color. George Lucas effect but in video games.
I actually think in some cases the guns look better in 4.
Damn I don't remember Fallout 3 being THIS ugly
Why, though? It's a good design. Having a full rotary barrel in this style isn't going to be entirely good enough to provide cooling to a laser, whereas smaller moving focusing assembly is both faster and more efficient.
Fallout 3's Gatling laser is cool, 4's minigun should have had 3's box magazine instead of that fricking ridiculous platter sized drum and it'd be an improvement.
Like a lot of shit in fo4, it's designed to look proportional with fo4's fricking massive power armor, rather than with the notmal player model.
Funny thing is many of those fallout icons were made from 3D ones. Could've just straight out lifted them into F3.
Same was in Arcanum, right? They weren't really highly detailed though, but that's just age problem.
Or at the very least just use them as a reference to create new 3D models and preserve the art style of the old games a little bit. Hell, the gattling laser gun can even stay a modified version of the minigun because it's that good looking.
the Gatling Laser is fine but the Minigun got shafted really hard on everything else but its visual upgrade, its sound design sucks, its reload sucks and you cant kill anything with how little damage it does.
Pipe guns don't realisticaly function, the magazine doesn't line up with the barrel in any way
Institute guns are massive screen blockers and can't even outperform widely available 200 year old laser weapons
Converting a weapon to fire a bigger caliber doesn't visually show the weapon with a wider barrel
Laser musket cranks to charge but consumes a energy cell that you don't load into the gun
there's more but these are the biggest ones for me
Well, these are definitely valid points. Was any criticism offered to developers?
yes
they didn't care and made the same mistakes with F76
While in this day and age constructive criticism can be overshadowed by hateful words, it still exists.
Pity.
Plenty. Then they added a lever action rifle that always animates shoving five bullets in the tube no matter how many bullets you load.
>shotgun can hold 8 shells
>fire shotgun once
>reload
>reload 8 shells instead of just once
It's a big shell.
If you mean a pump shotty, 76 had that and it didn't have borked reloads, even though the cowboy rifle still did
Fallout games were always incredibly ugly. Bethesda games in general are absolutely disgusting to look at. Legitimately ugly.
Well, the world ended there, what did you expect, other than perhaps, sight-seeing and cool looking ruins?
It's not hard to have post-apocalyptic games that don't look repulsive.
True, but that means more work.
Right, sorry, I forgot. The shit-eating fanbase will fix it.
FO 1, 2 and tactics and BoS are legitimately goregoue iso's. you're just a homosexual tard.
These look well, like laboratory pieces.
Overdesigned garbage. Frick Bethesda, hope Microsoft eats them alive.
Some of these have look like they wouldn't be out of place in Homeworld.
Looks good. Very Taiidan.
Half of these were scrapped, there's only three stock models including the default.
>Half of these were scrapped
Literally every aspect of the game is like this. FO4's concept art team actually did a petty decent job, but the modelers and texture artist must have spent all their budget on hookers and blow, since they implemented less than half of the shit they were supposed to.
Their concept artist is great, he knows his job.
Their current team certainly isn't anywhere near as good as Adam Adamowicz was, but you can tell they actually care about the quality of their work. It's a shame that barely any of it actually makes it into the game.
>scrapped
Black person what are you talking about, pretty much all of that is in the game
Fallout 1 and 2 have the best art style. They did improve on certain things a little with Fallout 4 like the power armor looks a lot better, but everything else looks worse.
Fallout 3's combat armor, vault suit and leather armor look good. Some adjustments could be made like combat armor keeping a visor and long sleeves like the winterized combat armor that you can't get but holy frick everything in 4 is terrible.
biggest mistake for me in FO4 weapons was making the Deliverer a unique model, and never letting us get Legendary variants of it. I fricking loved that clean, normal design, and I'd kill to have one that scaled into endgame with me
The 10mm especially is ugly AF in FO4. I just replace FO4 guns with their FO3/FNV variants. Works for me.
>What are some examples of art style degradation?
This is the prime example when you actually "HIRE THIS MAN!" as your art director.
Hey at least the shoulder pad moved to a more logical side.
Uh-h-h...
REDO WORK!
MORE WORK?
NOO DON'T POST THIS PLEASE I'M BEGGING.
frick i hate reforged so much fricking how the frick is shit like this even possible
You know you fricked up when some AI upscalling and some little touch-ups give you better result than misdirected work of outsourcing studio.
Frick nu-blizzard.
Being a good concept artist and seeing end results like this must be a sad job.
dishonest comparison
Black personish behavior
For me, I love the Wattz pistol but I can't fricking stand the Wattz rifle
AEP-5 is okay, but I love the AER-9, especially all the upgrades you can slap on it in New Vegas.
It's literally impossible to not associate the fallout series with reddit, it's just disgusting to me. Just like fedoras or the steampunk aesthetic.
Everyone's blathering on about fricking Fallout, so allow me to steer this to a new topic: Team Fortress 2. It started with a tightly-controlled aesthetic that replicated Norman Rockwell's rendition of the 1960s and ensured that both teams had a distinct identity, with every class having a perfectly identifiable silhouette. Meanwhile, the maps kept up a distinct theme of new and old western industrial infrastructure giving way to secret spy bases and missile silos, drawing upon the stylish espionage fiction of the time in the same way that, say, Evil Genius or The Incredibles do.
And now it's just a fusillade of frick-ugly hats and half-finished maps that at best struggle to maintain the game's identity, and at worst straight up demolish it in favour of feeding that stupid fricking hat economy.
