What are some good TTRPG inspired tv shows, anime, web comics, manga, movies, etc.?
The more obscure the better, since it's less likely I've heard of it then. Fantasy preferred. Also, no gay ass isekai shit please.

Is Dungeon Meshi actually good, or is it just a meme?
It's better than most of the manga out there.
don't know, but from what I've seen ttrpg-inspired japanese fantasy is less autistic about explaining everything, they are big into "rule of cool"
>Double-Black person neo-ultra-newbies
>On my /tg/
I'm too fricking tired with your shit to even get mad anymore
why so confrontational, anon? what makes you say those things? please elaborate.
>Why mad at my flamming newhomosexualry
Because you aren't doing the mandatory 2 years of lurking.
>newhomosexualry
>2 years of lurking
why do you think I'm new?
>Guys, how is Dungeon Meshi?
>I'm not a newbie, I swear!
If you were on this board for at least a month, you wouldn't need to ask this question.
but I didn't ask about Dungeon Meshi, anon, you seem jaded, are you ok?
Then ask yourself why you are even talking to me at all, you fricking moron
>why you are even talking to me at all
because for a moment you made me second guess my first comment, I wanted to know if I genuinely said something deserving of such mistreat, I don't think I do. Don't know why you are acting so offensive, cynical and bitter, but I hope things get better for you, anon.
This is the extremist hacker site known as Ganker. We declared an official trolling ISIS day. Don’t get fricking comfortable. We’re extreme. Okay?!
NTA but I've been here since before quests, and have absolutely no idea about Dungeon Meshi other than it's a manga.
I find that as hard to believe as you not knowing about OOTS, given that both are regularly posted here.
I filter OOTS threads, so no, I know nothing about it other than its a webcomic.
>he says, of things posted since before filters
What the frick are you talking about? I've been here well over a decade, you fricking mongoloid. Doesn't mean I read fricking mangas.
It was never your /tg/, you raging homosexual. Feel free to frick off back to where you came from at any time if it doesn't please you.
>Mongoloid
You are not allowed to be racist to asians
Tell that to other Asians.
It's pretty good. It's not amazing or anything but it's fun, especially if you like dungeon crawling and fantasy tropes.
The character designs are creative and surprisingly varied and unique looking for a Japanese artist.
the first two volumes are excellent
then as usual it goes to shit
At least at the beginning it's got a lot of soul, I liked it.
The first arc was actually good but the more it strays from being a fantasy cooking manga the worse it is.
It has nothing to do with /tg/ anyway
>It has nothing to do with /tg/ anyway
but is about cooking or killing elfs?
Ryoko Kui is a better worldbuilder and monster designer than anyone working for Paizo and WotC these days. That's not a high bar to clear, but she makes it look easy.
Aaron Allston's Wraith Squadron books were inspired by some of the misadventures of his old Traveller group.

OP said inspired, not inspirational.
The Protectorate was based on the writers' RP campaign. There was Ultra Amazing Guy, The Furry Avenger, Resurrecto the israeli Superman, I remember an AU resistance movement called DA HARDCORE COMMANDOS, with Henry Rollins and Peter Garrett, and maybe Jello Biafra in muscle cars, and their leader was Ross Perot in a Kermit the Frog mask! Lol, but the writer made the artist go back and draw Ross Perot.
"Hell yeah, little missy! I run the revolution like I run my own business!". Cthulhu stepped on them and they went to Hell and met the Doug Anthony Allstars.
Those still overlap
You can't go wrong with the 1977 animated Hobbit adaptation or Disney's The Sword in the Stone.
Those two movies alongside My Neighbor Totoro were my childhood right there
>good TTRPG inspired tv shows,
>no gay ass isekai shit please.
You know even the original D&D cartoon was isekai garbage, right?
It's a VERY over-used trope of throwing your modern era everyman into the fantastic setting. Japan didn't invent this shit.
I don't care who invented it, it still sucks ass.
>if you don't watch anime you're new!
cope, sneed, dial 8
been here since 2008
*dabs*
Nta, but I'm willing to bet good money you were a toddler in '08, the year of your birth.
>n-no!
*dabs on you*
>I've been here a long time! It's why I use newbie memes from other boards!
go back.
b***h I'm birdgay I shot up that fricking bar and have been on the run
don't speak of me that way or i'll dox you just like i doxxed that assclown gahoole
>please, please stop making fun of me for being such a raging newbie
no.
Took you that long to Google how old Ganker is, huh?
>2 replies a day apart
wow I'm really in your head XD
Record of the Lodoss War I'd probably the most basic answer, since it was literally some groups DnD campaign.
Saw that one, it was actually pretty good.
Ruin Explorers is good fun. Shorter fun fun. There's also the Lodoss spinoffs, Rune Soldier and Legend of Crystania
The first Legend of Crystania film was weirdly good. And the animation sometimes seemed high budget, but for no reason. The second film was...an OK mini campaign, but with some neat stuff thrown in.
Rune Soldier Louie kind of disappointed me. there was something every other episode that just seemed random or the characters doing something for no reason.
Well i don't know if slayers is definitely inspired by dnd, but lina is a complete fricking murderhobo.
Big fat elf ears!
I know there's a cadre of homosexuals who hate Goblin Slayer, but you should check out the novels. They're pretty easy reading pulp fantasy, and while the TTRPG stuff is all metatextual, it's immediately obvious that the person writing it is a huge TTRPG nerd.
The manga and anime are fine and all, but you miss something from the internal dialog of the characters, and I think that's what's earned it some misunderstanding and hate.
I picked up one of them and the first five pages was explicitly erotic goblin rape drawn like a doujin, but somehow more boring too. Anon, it isn't that good.
Anon, I think you picked up the wrong Goblin Slayer. The novels (not talking about the manga) are graphic, but they don't particularly dwell. Where they really shine though, is past the first volume. Kumo does a good job building the characters past his concept, taking time to set up his ducks and follow through. Unfortunately, it doesn't really show major fruit until volume 3 or 4, which is a bit past the anime, but it's definitely worth it.
Good list, thank you
I'm just gonna leave this one here
https://files.catbox.moe/s0ua8g.jpg
you're free to act on it as you please
Frick that's old. Someone really should make a new list at some point.
Pleas, that's not econ 101 and 102, it's microeconomics and macroeconomics. You can tell by the tit size.
Poison Elves is an old comic based on the author's D&D character, it's not perfect but it will make you say holy soul.
Artesia is another good comic, the author turned the setting into a TTRPG I think.
dungeon is unironically some of the best shit produced.
I don't care if it's french
French comics frick and anyone who says otherwise is a seething capegay mad America can't have that amount of quality and genre diversity anymore.
Ganker is an anime site, you poltroons.
The symbol isn't a 4 leaf clover, it's Yotsuba's hair. The whole site is ripped off 2chan, ffs. Operatorchan is the only chan that is in denial, and they're pretty much dead. I mean, CHAN. It's in the NAME. It's a CHAN.
God I wish every 13 year old I DON'T LIKE KID STUFF! THAT'S FOR BABIES AND gayS! I ONLY LIKE GROWN UP STUFF LIKE WARHAMMER 40K AND GANGSTA RAP! contrarian Andrew Tate fan would just frick off out of my hobby and give it back to the nerds and trannies who built this goddamn house.
>I mean, CHAN. It's in the NAME. It's a CHAN.
the Ganker domain is derived from futaba (2chan)'s name, which is derived from 2channel/2ch/nichanneru.
2ch literally means 'second channel', because it was essentially a bunker from when Ayashii World blew up.
nothing do do with the nipponese honorific -chan.
you were correct about quite a lot of your post though
I miss when all we had was a handful of boards and most just posted Azumanga Daioh shit.
I agree with you in general, but furthering the corporate sponsored forced-ass Andrew Tate meme should be punishable by immediate execution. No one would even know who that is if it weren't for you c**ts chanting his name all day long.
Elementals was based partially on some work the creator, Bill Willingham, yes, the guy who killed Spoiler Bill Willingham, did earlier for Villains and Vigilantes.
Fun Fact: later he got into trouble for responding to an obnoxious fan with "I'm not your art Black person!".
Weren't The Expanse and Firefly each based on somebodys' Traveller campaign?
the magic system of the Peter Grant series by Ben Aaronovitch was based of Ars Magica he played in the early 90s but im not sure about the rest of the series. Rivers of London is being made into a RPG system by Chaosium
Brandon Sanderson was inspired by MtG for some of his magic system Stormlight archive being the most prominent
