Alan Wake 1 is basically a Stephen King novel set in a Twin Peaks like town. The story is nothing like the Twin Peaks show. Alan Wake 2 is actually a lot more like Twin Peaks.

Silent Hill for the more Francis Bacon inspired side of Lynch (sadly only put to film in Eraserhead and some part of Twin Peaks The Return).
Alan Wake 1/2 for the more psychological Lost Highway/Mulholland Drive side of Lynch (SH does have psychological elements but Alan Wake does that better)

The critical flaw with your pick is that David Cage isn't nearly on Lynch's level of narrative genius, ESPECIALLY not in this game

as if to prove my point to people who were and are still filtered by the games genius

          Anonymous

The only time you should ever use the word "filtered" in this context, is on YOURSELF to show humility, but not to attack others and show what a weak minded and insecure b***h you are. It's a far and wide accepted fact that the second half of Fahrenheit is complete dog shit, plagued by insane writing, plenty of plot holes and a dev team out of time and money to finish things properly. The moment they went hardcore down the chinese kung fu road you knew things are going to shit, partly because they play it all so damn serious like it's "Matrix at Home".

      It's good, very enjoyable.
Go and watch the pilot movie, or whatever you'd call it. S01EP01. If you like that, you'll likely enjoy the rest. But beware that a bunch of S02 isn't by him, him only coming back towards the end of it, it's still good stuff though.

Still holds up quite a bit, S2 drags at times after Lynch left the project for a bit. James Hurley's entire S2 arc sucked ass.

It's a very weird show, I'm eternally surprised it has this much of a following even after so long. But yeah don't be surprised if it doesn't click with you at all.

      Anonymous

The reason why you don't hear about spoilers is because the twist was so bad it ended up killing the show. Lynch himself hates the twist and ended up leaving the show because of it only to come back and kill all the stupid characters they added in the final episode. In the end the show isn't about the twist or the spoilers it's about the journey, the investigation, and getting engrossed in the comfy surreal atmosphere.

You people are so fricking clueless and dare I say media illiterate in a way that actually pisses me off. The entire doppelganger/identity crisis plotline is straight from Lynch in general. "Wake and Zane are different people but certain characters treat them as the same people." see: Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks S3. This is not even getting into all the visual cues taken from Twin Peaks S3 (see pic related).

Pay fricking attention next time or you come across as very moronic. (It's not surface-level either, Lake pulls it off very well while providing enough of his own twist on things.)

A running idea I feel in Lynch's work is the danger of technology/energy/industry. The juxtaposition of the quaint picturesque home with the cold, dark and looming industrial. Eraserhead had the white picket fence Americana home but it was engulfed by massive vats, pipes. Electricity in Twin Peaks, Lost Highway (as well as the phone call scene), the Harkonnen's planet in Dune. Blue Velvet deals with that change too, the main character begins in a vibrant and lovely American street but enters a dark, grimy crime world.
