yeah that shit was cancerous. it shouldn't have taken them 25 years to correct that mistake

It was given to everything in gen 1 because there just were not as many moves. With over 1000 Pokémon today it's better to make movepools more individual.

Toxic and Double Team being TMs and being given to every Pokemon was Game Freak's attempt to make shitmons at least usable when battling other people.

Can’t believe Game Freak removed every Pokémon’s ability to literally shit in their opponents mouth via Toxic

Interestingly, Toxic was a TM again in BDSP but it was no longer a universal TM, in fact it was virtually worthless since it was usable by only a small group that already learned it by level up anyway. Only Bulbasaur, Gastly and Mew needed it IIRC.

    It was always fricking cancerous
It's like if spore were a universal TM

I hate toxic but it being gone is really good for stall which sucks

Opposite, it sucks for stall because now you can’t just make every attacker without recovery die on a timer.

Stall is dead anyway with the recovery PP nerf

    >was it a good idea?
Yeah but the execution was lacking.
Some mons should get it by level up now.
Umbreon should be a chief example for this.
But no they took away Payback, Glare and nerfed Moonlight.

I liked it on more bulky mons to hinder counters on switch ins. Also, many lower tier mons needed it to do any type of good damage. I didn't find it particularly annoying. Pre-nerf burn and para were defintely more cancerous. I think it was an overall healthy move that made morons mald because they where unable to mindlessly click strong attacks constantly.

Yeah, it was a good move.
It was an unfun attack that made one of the biggest aspects of the Poison type redundant because any monster could learn it.
Scald being similarly heavily narrowed was great too. If anything I'd say that Ice Beam/Blizzard should be next in terms of reducing the number of Water types that can learn them.

Logically it is only poison (and in rare cases dark) types should be able to learn it anyway.

      What about Bug and Grass?

        Anonymous

Well, if bug types what also poison type and grass type what also poison type - they could have it
In fact any mon what have poison as one of its types should be allowed to learn it, but no random bs

Toxic on everything was stupid, but instead of just nuking it from everything they should've given us more ways to apply regular poison instead. Say, Steel-type move based on mercury that can poison other Steel-types (and by extension Grass-types too, but has worse accuracy than usual suspects), a poison-applying Fairy-type Scald called something like Bad Medicine or Overdose, or frick, give Twineedle better distribution and damage.

Pokemon no longer need to shit, therefore buttfricking them is mostly safe
