I've always dreaded it but I guess you could just roll the calendar back to a matching year

      Anonymous

Yeah they don't want you to know this but the calendar cycles every 12 years or something. Just set it to the same date but in 2019 and all the dates will keep matching up.

What's relevant about that year to this game? Does the clock stop working when it hits that year?

Yeah I forget if it's the entire cube or just Animal Crossing, but the clock gets stuck after 2031

Don't tell anybody about this but this is your one and only chance. On December 31st 2030 between 11:00 and 11:30 reset the clock on your ac back to which ever year is most relevant to you. Set the date as Jan 1st 9:00am.

Make sure you fall asleep between 11:30 and 12:00 or this wont work! If you do succesfully fall asleep, after a restful night you will wake up in the year of your choosing, January 1st 9:00AM and 2009 for me at least!

If anybody else is planning to do this make sure to set it to 2009. I will be meeting up with any UK anons who have also done it at the Colston Statue in Bristol on January 6th 3:00pm.

I will be travelling to New York to meet up with any US anons who go for 2009 as well, we will meet January 9th 6:00pm in New York, The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.

I cannot confirm that this will work using a nintendo wii so an original gamecube is the best bet. Make sure the battery isn't dry when doing this!

I hope to see you there. We're all going to make it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNlkjaaI3bg

Animal Crossing 1 is my favorite game in the series. I don't know why, but something about it having an expiration date makes me really sad. I'll start a town and hope I can keep it alive until then.

I backed up my original town, but honestly I haven't even played on it at all since I was a kid or teenager or whatever. It feels like a time capsule that I just shouldn't disturb.

I remember getting the game when it came out back in 2004 (European release date). At this time, this bug was known about and they mentioned it in Nintendo magazine. I remember joking with my friends like "LOL, I won't be able to play this game in 2031. Thank god it will never actually be that far in the future"

    feels fricking bad man

  12. 1 year ago

I've been itching to start a town after not playing for almost 20 years, but I just know I'll play it feverishly for like two days and then not be able to keep up with it. As soon as I miss a day I feel discouraged to continue. It's a problem of mindset, really.

IQ tests as a child don't mean much. Get tested as an adult

I was thoroughly tested by a professional. It took two days. It wasnt not one of those 30 minutes internet tests Americans have to take.

Yeah, you and god-knows how many other people. It's not all that exclusive of a club.
Thankfully, you're a member of the "I thought 'Animal Crossing' was an adventure game" club - that's an incredibly exclusive club that you can be a proud member of.
Me? I'm a member of the "I thought 'The Sims 2' was a JRPG" club. Come on, there's an alien and a woman doing a karate pose on the cover. What else was five-year-old me to think?
