          I personally wouldn't mind if it weren't because that type of micro is way too simplistic and boring. It's just an APM sink. It doesn't feel satisfying to accomplish on its own (except injecting multiple hatcheries that actually takes some technique).

          The only thing that keeps me to play this game more is this annoying mechanic of having to keep going back to the base to do these things. You can't even automate it and there is no simple way to do it. You need to click and click and click.

            Depending on your play style you can just delay going back to base.
            But it has always been a primary part of playing RTS games that you manage your base while attacking the enemy. You'll never get a good RTS that automates primary gameplay for you.

          Age of Empires II has a restriction of 50ish, I think. Warlords Battlecry III, for some baffling reason, restricted it depending on unit size.
          But the amount of units you can select is only one part of the story, pathfinding is a really difficult problem that few games are able to get right. Warcraft III does a good job all facts considered, and I think that's more liberating than other games not having a 12 unit limit but units running into each other.

          SC1 limit selection was a design choice, not a hardware constraint.

    2 is good enough. I wish that they hired the original team for 1 and 2 back and ported each part of the story, with the same flavor, to each game. This way we could have the whole experience in any game we liked. SC2 could've been improved so much more.

Also they should release a remaster, with upgraded models, revamped UI, better custom games browser, remove all the e-sports bullshit, let us buy past skins for a reasonable prince, let us buy the emojis, remove all the FOMO stuff and so on.

        The same goes for Heroes of the Storm, it's from the same team of SC2. I doubt that MS will do that though.

            They could make it like Diablo does for the exclusives. Release the battleboxes through rotation and then let us play to unlock the stuff inside it. Release new skins every season, rerelease the Blizzcon exclusive skins, by selling the show itself after some time after the original event, let's say, 3 years?

            They are not even doing the events anymore. The game would become active again, would give the completionists a reason to go after every missing stuff and a reason to play the game.

            They also could sell the new chapters adapted for the game. There is so much wasted opportunity within SC2.

            The excessive e-sport focus ruined it. Also they should let us truncate our """career""" stats. The co-op is the most active mode of the game, not the e-sports.

      Artosis is actually a huge negative influence on the perception of StarCraft and RTS in general because of exactly this attitude towards the game, which he pushed heavily on the western scene way back in the mid 2000s when he made that post on teamliquid called How to Get Really Really Good or something like that. The content of the post was basically, ignore strategy entirely, stop thinking about the game, just rehearse whatever the meta is until you can do it perfectly as fast as possible.

      It's noticeable that otherwise strong players who followed this philosophy, like himself and Idra, severely underperformed and became completely irrelevant at the professional level. Idra had some hilarious posts on teamliquid about how he only lost to his opponent because the opponent did the wrong build. You see, Idra did the objectively correct thing of playing the meta and focusing on out macroing the opponent, but his opponent made the idiotic choice to blind counter him and win easily. This illustrates how the game is bad because the intelligent players like himself, who know strategy is irrelevant, lose.

        You see this a lot with "former Sc2 pros" that they're stuck in the past and does not understand that they were playing a game long before anyone knew what the frick they were doing.

        If you look at old "pro" matches of the time it looks absolutely abysmal. No creep spread, no army-splits, no rotations.
        Could pass for a mid diamond match today.

        Despite this, you have people like Grubby giving their completely uninformed opinions on the game acting like their word is gospel.

      I don't really want more races, but I would like variant races. For example, you can play as Dominion, UED, Raynor's Raiders, or other Terran variants, or you can play as the various Zerg Broods or Protoss tribes. Each side has slightly different units or functions on units, such as a Protoss faction that doesn't get Dark Templars and their line but has a bigger focus on High Templar and Archon like units, and another that is the opposite of that.

      It would be a nightmare to balance, but that's why you just include the three base races for competitive play and let people pick variants for non-ranked matches.
