witcher 2 UI isnt the console's fault, its just shitty soulless artists with shit taste.
Theres so much empty screen on that thing, you could totally make it not interrupt the game's status, and you could totally make TW1's UI work for consoles
People constantly blame consoles or mobile for that shit, but it is genuinely not the problem here. There is this cancer of UI that gets increasingly shallower and blander in literally every context, look at how contemporany games have shitty generic text and bland white shapes even if it has no inputs involved. And obviously its not just vidya either
Ironically, witcher 2's inventory UI that you posted feels exceptionally good compared to current day's shit. That UI has art, good icons and puts effort into its own aesthetic. Now compare it to witcher 3's inventory, which is incredibly dull in comparison. And yet, witcher 3's menu manages to somehow feel less insultingly bland than some shit released recently.
Walk around the siege camp before going to the king. You'll get in a conversation about a medallion; tell the guy to NOT trust its magic at all and to wear armour. Spare the boy La Valette, and help him later on. These are the early tips I'll give you.
I wish you a good game.
>I only played the first game.
ALSO, if you have saved data from Witcher 1 you can import gear and some previous decisions (like siding with Siegfried) into Witcher 2.
you have to activate the shield (kwen or whatever) and disengage from the fight whenever you get hit and your shield disappears. without using it, the game is impossible
If you are playing on Dark mode or whatever it's called with the special items (that are pretty much necessary to not get 2 shot) loot literally everything because that shit is super expensive.
I downloaded a mod that turned made all lootable containers glow automatically instead of having to hold the witcher sense button all the time.
Also get the mod that fixes dice poker to be like in Witcher 1 because for some god damn they reason they made it some stupid off center camera angle in 2. That alone wouldn't be terrible but they also added the ability for dice to fall off the table and just disappear not counting just wtf were they thinking? The AI never does that so it exists solely to fuck you over the shitty controls.
I remember when I replayed the game in Dark Mode, I had to strategize beforehand and make sure to write down exactly what materials I would need cause I wanted the equipment in every chapter
Definitely not worth it in retrospect, maybe the next time I play it I'll just do the second hardest difficulty
Eeeehh, I'm not sure about that. I preferred a sword or magic build with some investment into alchemy, pretty much the same as W3
Did W1 even have an alchemy build? IIRC in that game you just max every copper and silver skill anyway
Witcher 1 alchemy was busted because toxicity reset whenever you rested even 1 hour while the potions always lasted like 8. So you could chug potions, rest 1 hour, chug potions, rest 1 hour, chug potions and then run around with every buff in the game. Granted there aren't many fights that are difficult enough to require it but it can carry you if you are at all underlevelled.
Yeah he's retarded. Both paths are equally interesting, and it's awesome that there are some plot details you just never find out in one path that are revealed in the other
Still think Roche is better though, because it makes more sense for Geralt to follow for his immediate goal (rescuing Triss)
Nothing really. Combat is different. Just play it, nerd.
that it's a buggy piece of shit souls clone
Yeah, I remember I played a little bit in the beginning and died a lot from regular enemies, I couldn't attack in the right direction.
That it's shit that ruined the franchise for all eternity by being a LITERAL "We want AssCreed and Souls audiences!" console trash.
Avoid it.
I really hate what consoles did to Inventory UI screens and mobiles are in the process of making it even worse.

Sadly not, it was more than a decade ago.
Well, did you play the Steam version or the GOG? If you download the game it will likely also download your saves.
It was a box version on release.
Ah.
Well, instead of replaying Witcher 1, you could always import someone's saved data from the internet. example:
www.nexusmods.com/witcher2/mods/180
If you think it's too much of a hassle, just go for it and play.
Wow, thanks. I actually played 2 times for 2 different endings except the neutral one, iirc it was the hardest to get and to play.
You're welcome dude.
I myself actually got the neutral ending in the first playthrough, by chance. It was a tad hard.
u should know witcher 2 fucking sucks
Geralt is for yennifer only. All other women are flings and whores
you have to activate the shield (kwen or whatever) and disengage from the fight whenever you get hit and your shield disappears. without using it, the game is impossible
Absolutely nothing. I recommend reading the books before 3, though

Also I think I had to farm harpies for a while to get gold by selling their feathers
Alchemy build is broken as always
Quicksave a lot, you will get into fights without realizing you need to potion up for them
Roche route is the best.

W1 just had alchemy. I don't recall it being something to skill into.

It hardly fucking mattered yeah, I remember using potions exactly once, otherwise you can just use Igni and win every fight
Don't sell potion recipes. You need to keep them in your inventory to use them.
Go with Roche and not the elf. Iorveth's route is much worse and also non-canon.
How is it much worse?

makes no sense from geralts perspective at that point in time
like oh yea, let me just fuck off thsi boat and join these elves that have been tryna fuck with me this whole time for no reason
Roche route is such a fun medieval buddy cop movie I don't want to play with the homosexual elves
Triss is better than Yennefer.
Yeah, on opposite day
is there a simple way to play the first and second on a pc with a controller?
I dunno why anyone would play an Aurora engine cRPG with a controller so I can't help you there. 2 has native controller support
