Not really Ultimate if you need a dongle for very little latency.

But the dongle goes into the dock which is pretty cool. Frees up a usb port.

      >dongle stays in the dock the entire time
      >you forget it's even there
      >get to enjoy much lower latency than bluetooth
Seems pretty Ultimate to me, especially when compared to most of the competition. The dock is just fricking amazing and brings the controller to a near 10/10

      >Get wired controller
      >Plug it in
      >For some reason the developers decided that the best way to let you know that it's working now that it's plugged in is for a light on the front of it to start glowing at roughly 3x the brightness of the sun
      >Need to either unplug it or cover up the light to be able to sleep at night

Why do people buy chinkslop like this? Just so they can say they didn't buy an xbox controller?

      Anonymous

All modern controllers use the same chinkshit parts, 8bitdo just offers them at reasonable prices so it doesn't sting as bad when it inevitably breaks.

Has hall effect sticks, comes out of the box with a rechargeable battery, charging dock is handy especially for pc. The last several official xbox controllers have all failed in significantly shorter amounts of time than I have used this 8bitdo controller.

Don't think the 8bitdo has haææ wffect. It looks like the kingkong thing. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

          it does

They're using the KingKong hall effect sticks. Apparently people are saying they're not as good as more recent controllers though.

whats the point of making a controller that looks like an off-brand xbox/switch controller?

dpad becomes decorative when you place it in the secondary position, only useful as a quick select.

It's okay. You can definitely feel its a Chinese product the second you hold it but its passable.

I want to try it out. Those shoulder buttons and triggers look like ass though.

      Anonymous

the triggers are fine, albeit PS4 style instead of xbox style so they're shorter throw and have finger-nibs instead of the whole thing being concave, but the shoulder buttons are indeed ass

Pretty good for a PC controller, tho the d-pad sucks and does exactly this on the ultimate, so not for fighting/ 2D game fans. The hall effect sticks are dope, and are responsive tho abit stiff. Literally no deadzone. Tho the L1 and R1 bumpers rattle if you shake it.

Also if the leaks are true, and new Xbox controllers are gonna be with a Gyro sensor, does that mean we are getting gyro support for Xinput controllers? Will 8bitdo update it (when it launches) in the software for this one, since the Bluetooth switch mode supports gyro?

Like mine a lot. The 2.4 thing is very sweet when emulating nes/snes/gb(a). Super Mario Bros. 3 plays incredibly well with it.

Terrible ergo for your wrists. Carpal tunnel awaits you.
Like they need to release another version with diagonals handles. Switch Pro controller feels better in hands.
8bitdo ultimate stick is superior tho.

Thoughts on the SN30 for retro gaming?

Go for the Pro+ for comfort, but otherwise a very good daily driver

I wanted the "feel" of an SNES controller, since I'm mostly playing that, otherwise I would've gotten the pro. I have a dualsense for modern games.

I bought that green one, the cheapest one, and it probably came with drifting right stick day one. But I only perceived when I started pathologic 1 and the controller was connected, the "mouse" button was moving alone

Got a wired one. I think it lacks bigger handles. It makes the four-finger-on-the shoulder-buttons grip uncomfortable in the long run. It you use the back buttons as a replacement of LB and RB, it's comfy. The software is ultra convenient (no third party bloat, since you can use your phone). I thiiiink the left trigger is starting to go since I've been abusing it for AC6. We'll see.

Low quality plastic, as expected from chinkshit.
Better to just play the XBox Elite controller lottery and hope you get one without issues.

Sadly my RT is gets caught from the molding. I had problems with every single controller I had:
    >Xbox Ultimate 2 double RT out of the box
    >Wii U pro dpad doesn't work
    >Switch pro drift
    >Switch drift and shit battery
The 8bitdo ultimate is my favorite but damn I just wish I had a long lasting controller for once

I like it. Have it with me right now actually. Doesn't feel as good to hold as the Switch Pro but I haven't gotten drift and the app's pretty useful. Back buttons are always nice but I don't use them. D-pad is nice for me at least but is in a rather uncomfortable spot, I think the SN30P is better in that regard but the Ultimate is better in almost every other way.

My biggest complaint is actually the button at the top, I don't use it but it's clicky and not mushy when the three buttons right below it are. It feels like it's not meant to be in that spot, and usually it's at the bottom right.
