If it's doom/quake fast, it's perfectly fine
If it's zoomers/streamers breaking the game with slide cancelling and other cringy ass exploits and demanding it becomes the standard for every shooter then it can fuck off
By this logic any "unintended" ways to play the game that develops past release of the game is an exploitation. Just admit that you're bad at the games you play and you never took the 10 minutes it takes to be able to learn and improve. Thousands of others have and they are better players because of it. Its not like the tech is hard to learn anyways. Imagine coping about mechanics that give your game depth and instead of mastering it you decided to cry about it, kek.
Movement tech is king. One half the fun of FPS games is the movement. We have all played basic wasd movement and its boring. Give me bhop, strafe jumping, slide hopping, tap strafing, wall running, grappling, dashing etc.
There is no feeling quite like bhoping around the map at high speeds direct hitting your opponent with rockets.

Its just harder to make good because part of the fun in games is being forced to make decisions quickly, and in slow FPS games the decisions to be made are not engaging enough for the time given to make them. Serious Sam is a "slow" FPS compared to the fastest in the genre, but you make long term (long term for fps standards) choices as you see mobs spawning in the distance and gather time to pick what ammo to use, or who to target first.
Still, I think faster gameplay suits fps games more than slower, simply because the genre doesn't have many ways to make longer term strategy a real thing beyond conserving ammo I guess, which is uninteresting and rather brainless most of the time.
Actually going to reply to myself here and say that actually Devil Daggers is one of the few FPS games with longer term planning due to being able to control spawns. However the game is so fucking hard that you usually make the decisions before you press play and set yourself timers for when you should or shouldn't do things. Still, when things go wrong and out of plan, you have to decide for yourself in that moment what you should do to survive in the future of that run.
