Got a Quest 2 as a gift a year ago and once a month I'll spend an hour in the shooting gallery on Zero Caliber just messing about with the guns and dual wielding revolvers. It's nice as a change of pace from normal console/pc gaming but it's fun as a novelty. Nothing more.

I like it, but Ganker is a terrible place to talk about it.

Having a Quest 2 or any other shit phone CPU in a headset doesn't count for experiencing VR.

A cell phone has a 90hz screen and a higher than 1080p screen, so it's technically the same crap. The oculus Quest 2 has a screen resolution equal to the valve index, and it has an integrated hardware that allows you to play most of the good games, and even if everything I said was a lie, it is not a fair comparison to compare a product of 400 usd, with another 1200 that needs another 1000 usd pc to work.

Connect my phone to vr via iVRy, and play google earth. The truth is that it's a great experience, the only thing is that the lenses included in the cheap Chinese adapter suck, but other than that it's a good experience.

Don't let the ~~*companies*~~ brainwash you into thinking you need to spend 99999 usd to try VR. Plug your fricking phone into your PC and download any game that doesn't require motion controls and you'll see what I'm talking about.

It has good games, or games with a lot of potential, like the walking dead, bonelab, in death, and swordsmans, etc. I feel that all the pieces are there, and that the only thing missing is someone to put them together and create a masterpiece. Then there are also very good games both graphically and mechanically, but I just don't like them at all because they are puzzle-themed like i expect you to die, or red matter.

I think I made a good purchase with the virtual reality glasses, but the biggest limitation I have when using them is my body.

I don't use troonychat. The only non- game I use with the headset (not counting utility overlays like OVR), is DeoVR, for porn.

You seem to have played several vr games. I'm looking for a game with the satisfaction of killing like the walking dead, the setting of in death, and sword fighting like swordsmans. If you know something like that I would be very grateful.

Surprising amount of VR puzzles games out there, don't know why those specific types of devs latch onto it so much. It's fun to just mag dump in Pavlov or some other VR shooter as well

One time OnePlus sent free Google Cardboards to experience the launch of the OnePlus 2, and even that shitty thing was enough to amaze me, so go figure.
I was sure that I'd be an early adopter, but a decade after words like DK1 and DK2 and Crescent Bay were thrown around, I still have zero high-end VR experience, but my desire has never waned.
I want to sit in the wienerpit of an F-15E - that's all I need, but I do understand that the disconnect between in-game controls and real life input devices, like HOTASs, needs to be further reduced.

Many people discredit cardboard, and do not consider it "true virtual reality", but keep in mind that many great titles like minecraft, virtual virtual reality, among others were ported to android and samsung phones more than 8 years ago. Google itself is removing the technical demos, and the 360 images of google maps to promote the advancement of the oculus quest and much more expensive devices.
If you live in yankeeland and have 250 usd left over to buy a used quest 2, do it without hesitation, you won't regret it.

It's amazing for cooming. Can't wait until I'll be living on my own, I'll buy a proper PC headset and a good videocard and will spend the rest of my days fapping to vidya girls.

As for actual games - it's extremely whatever. I guess shit like simulators can benefit greatly from it and horrors work extremely well but everything else is just way better on regular screen.

I've barely forayed into VR with a jury-rigged PSVR in games like Subnautica and Elite Dangerous and I've had a pretty good time. If I can get more use out of it in autism simulators like Assetto Corsa and American Truck Simulator then I reckon I'll get a lot of value out of it

luxury item that Ganker seethes eternally about because it's very expensive to get into, hasn't taken over traditional gaming completely and is not sword art online.
great fun for what it is though.

Not anymore, you can get a decent headset with pancake lenses really cheap now and something like 4060 should be enough for it.

Friend, literally any cell phone can move virtual reality, of course one that is 1080p is recommended, and with 90 hz, but I tried one of 720 p and 60 and the truth is that it is still an spectacular experience. Some oculus quest do not cost more than a medium-high range phone, but with the possibility of playing great games.

vr is going to be the future of gaming. theres not much left to do with regular gaming, there hasnt been much drastic innovation in gameplay for a long time. vr is where that will happen

video games have the same problem as movies, the experimentation is over and certain genres are expected to have certain things and it becomes stale.

I think the biggest problem is those black frames around the eyes, it's really annoying. I never felt a fly web in quest 2, but noticing the black frames around the eyes is annoying.

A lot of setup, buggy software, and chance of migraines made it a bit of a waste.

There are only a lot of settings if you want to hack the games, but you just have to access the developer mode, and download the games via telegram or some other apk page, it's not complicated. Dizziness can be a problem, I never experienced it, but my brother sometimes feels like throwing up with it.

I like the headsets but I need AR tech, not VR. I have no interest purchasing it unless.
    >1. I can wear the headset 24 hours a day, seven days a week
    >2. Augmented Reality interface that gives me information about the world around me.
    >3. AI companion app similar to Replika
I will not look at another VR headset unless I can get these things. I'm done with it. VR games do not matter to me whatsoever.
