I only ever seen e-celebs use this cope. Beastmen are perfect and represent a good step up from the boring horde of rats and marauders.
beastmen fucking suck
other hordes work because their fodder enemies are weak and numerous
beastmen fodder is tankier and lower in numbers
and the archers should be specials that hit harder and spawn significantly less often
Looking back on VT1 and hearing some of the dialog in VT2, especially in the chaos wastes, feels like it has a completely different almost comedic tone.
In VT1 the whole province is in a rough state and it could be the end of the world, while in VT2 theyre cracking jokes in the middle of a pilgrimage in the chaos wastes. I like most of the dialog a lot, but some of it is a bit much.
What I really don't like is how the Skaven were forced *once again* to take a backseat. The whole appeal of VERMINtide was that you were fighting the unique threat the skaven presented. But now theyre only 1/3rd of the factions and everything they have save the stormfriend were re-used from VT1.
Chaos is fucking boring, man. They dont have half the personality the Skaven do. The only thing I remember from chaos are YOURE NEXT and MY SLAVE, MY SPOILS.
the brapstormer can be very obnoxious, too. And Beastmen are straight up busted.

Whedon style writing is very specific though. The smugness, lack of sincerity and borderline fourth wall breaking isn’t present in VT2, with perhaps one exception for the latter in CW with the skulls comment.
When poor banter timing torpedoes the tone, that’s more to do with quality Swedish programming forgetting to restrict lines occurring after something fucked up happens on screen or is visible. The scripted lines make it clear they don’t take the atrocities lightly unless it’s Kerrilian being Kerrilian.
I do miss Kruber having a line that completely shoots her down cold, though. That was great in VT1

It doesn’t have the hallmarks of being inspired by it, either. The biggest giveaway is that the dialogue is appropriate for each character, and each character has a distinct tone.
The whole reason Whedon got popular is because, with things like Buffy, Angel and Firefly, his style of characters fumbling over words, making up terms on the fly and general flippancy worked within their settings, and because he had ‘tard wranglers that made sure characters such as Giles didn’t turn into Californians when it made no sense.
Whedon tends to be a dirty word now because people that rip him off tend to have characters with barely distinguishable dialogue voices, and he himself was heading that way as he got less and less executive ‘tard wranglers able to reel him in.
A good example of why VT2 is not of the same breed is Kruber’s reaction to the gate warden transforming. Superficially it’s similar to the infamous >well that just happened
But the wording and delivery make it clear he’s trying to keep himself together after seeing someone horrific, not just brushing it off as a silly event.

I think kerillian got worse in VT2. shes even more smug and hostile dispite knowing shes directly responsible for all the death and decay that occured in the province. Sure she doesnt care about humans, but her companions do and even then she effectively aided the slaves of chaos to gain ground. She should learn to keep her fucking mouth shut every now and then and the other characters should shut her the fuck down more often.
But they wont, because she is painfully obviously the developers's favorite. Fucking swedes.

For me it's portraying saltzpyre as a retarded religious fanatic that doesn't know what he's talking about, like in the dialogue where he says that a scholar (was it Holseher?) was fascinated by chaos, but not that he read his books or anything. It's making fun of a real life trope that doesn't make any sense in a setting where infohazards exist and pursuing knowledge can turn you insane.
It mostly felt to me like they were coping with the situation. I remember getting back into the keep one time and hearing Lohner go >"Good day. And so far, it actually is!"
Maybe it was just the way the voice actor delivered it, but that I feel like that line alone painted the tone I perceived the rest of the game with
I admit I haven't played much of Chaos Wastes though so I dunno what really goes on there. It just sounded like more generic barks to me since they didn't know any of the place names
i was bored of the skaven after a week, they need MORE factions not less, Fatshart fuck up alot of things, scope is one of them, the scope is too narrow, the gameplay is too limited, and thats just VT2, which is still a solid game, easy ~100hours of fun unless you're mentally ill like the guys who play it in the /vg/ general.
Darktide though, what a fucking hall of fame dissappointment, what a waste of money and dev hours..
Skaven are just fine, theres plenty more units in the skaven roster they didnt utilize. The key is to make interesting maps and AI that has unique units actually utilize the map. VT2 feels a lot more sloppily designed where the difficulty just boils down to spamming disablers at the team.
In V1 the skaven invasion was fresh and the characters were caught completely by surprise as they banded together to deal with the skaven threat in Ubersreik. In 2, they are working from a more secure location and are well aware of the Skaven (and now Northlander) threat. They have grown use to each other. Also the gang are soldiers and are well used to the horrors of war and all of them have a disdain for Chaos and Skaven. Why there is a lot of humour, there is also a lot of dialogue of them worrying about the future
It's fine. It never really surpassed L4D for me which felt like it had far tighter and faster gameplay. I also felt like it retread a lot of aspects of 1 and not in the best way. Characters more or less just repeated what they did in 1 up until the class DLC of which half of them feel like fanfic.
Also the bugs during the first year and all the emphasis on loot chests are pure awful. L4D had the confidence that people would play the game over and over because it was fun. Verm did not and when coupled with no dedicated servers and frequent early launch crashes it was even more miserable.
I dont get why people say that, L4D felt really unresponsive to me half the time. Mostly the gunplay while Vermintide's melee is miles better.
I agree with the shitty progression system though. I wish Fatshark would release map making tools.
>It's fine. It never really surpassed L4D for me which felt like it had far tighter and faster gameplay.
I agree on the faster gameplay, but the only thing keeping Vermintide from dethroning l4d permanently is custom mod and map support.
Totally mindless hack and slash with a comically blatant stat treadmill (you literally have one big number that goes up). I played it a few times with my friends and it's a mildly amusing way to waste a few hours but I wouldn't call it a good game and had no real desire to continue playing it.

Orks for sure, whatever the current chaos zombies are supposed to be sure a shit look similar to actual zombies to me, I don't think we need hordes of another type of zombie.
[...]
Quite convinced it's going to have skeleton summoning mechanics, which means it'll be entirely unique in what it can do. We'll see.
The scythe is a heavy weapon that moves slower than most but isn't poorly paced. It feels like it's got a good weight to it and will definitely help you clear out swathes of enemies at close range. The staff as well shoots blue flames that can deal good damage at a distance. Its projectiles also chain to different enemies, again indicating this class is going to be good at controlling groups of larger, weaker enemies.
Sienna's career skill in this subclass is to summon an army of six skeletons, which each have their own names and can be commanded using a skull that sits in your 4th inventory slot. If you don't give them a command, they'll still attack enemies nearby, and can act as a great way to soak up damage while dishing out some of their own.
I wonder what the skellies can do if you're getting CC'd by something like an assassin. Could they whack it to get it off you without other players helping?
The Scythe looks cool to be fair....But please, I really hope we get a second new melee weapon for Sienna, specially one that isnt Necro-related. I want more tools to play with as UnCHADined
And the class skill looks like it will give more trouble than help, for both player & Fatshark.
And I hope some modder bother to make a mod to visually change Necromancer to Black Magister or something different.
Greenskins are more likely because the undead are united with the good guys against Chaos in End Times. They could always make a story about some asshole Count making a pointless grab for power though.
Orks for sure, whatever the current chaos zombies are supposed to be sure a shit look similar to actual zombies to me, I don't think we need hordes of another type of zombie.
>Necromancer
I'm still fully expecting it will be just sienna with recolored flames. And those jokers spend almost three years on it.
Quite convinced it's going to have skeleton summoning mechanics, which means it'll be entirely unique in what it can do. We'll see.
>leaps into battle with axes whirling >stomps on a skaven's head to land >disembowls and decapitates a half dozen more before any of them can react
An old ranger's trick, heheheh...
Fatahark’s best but still way too undersupported game. At least it’s not fucking Darktide. Why in the fuck did they ever think making the party generic was better than the tight and endearing characters of Vermintide?
Can you creampie the dlc's for this game? They seem to be map packs and additional classes+cosmetics and not much else. If not, which one is the most worth p*rchasing?
This may be an unpopular opinion but the RPG-like elements make the gameplay loop worse for me. Hordes got dialed up to ludicrous levels on Legend and Cata because they need to balance around the purple bar of either kill or CC everything around you that every character has, and I can't really appreciate the new enemy variety when every horde is so massive that it just looks like one big mass I've got to cleave through. VT1's gameplay loop may have been simpler and with less enemy variety but it felt a lot deeper to me because you had enough space and breathing room to do anything other than push-hit-dodge flowchart and use your ult whenever there's too many rats.
Just started playing this not too long ago. Maxed my Saltz and am working on Bardin so I can solo Legend easier with better kitted Bots. It's nice to see Ganker likes it. It's a blast.
A game that can be boring W+m1 on start but when you up the difficulty and dive into mechanics it's one of the best coop games of our time. For me it's a tie between VT2 and DRG, I like both for different reasons.
i just wanted to play as chaos

i still don't get why this game requires 90GB of storage for a couple of maps.

Yeah, it's fun to change it up and play with crazy builds which aren't actually possible in the "normal" game.
Necromancer is coming Oct 19th, so in a bit over a month from now.
>Necromancer
I'm still fully expecting it will be just sienna with recolored flames. And those jokers spend almost three years on it.
there was just an article about her career.

And I hope some modder bother to make a mod to visually change Necromancer to Black Magister or something different.
still waiting for sienna's 4th career
If Vermintide 3 happens, what would most likely be the contender for the fourth faction? Undead or Orks?
Greenskins are more likely because the undead are united with the good guys against Chaos in End Times. They could always make a story about some asshole Count making a pointless grab for power though.
there's also Nagash aligned Kangz like Arkhan the black and company.
Orks for sure, whatever the current chaos zombies are supposed to be sure a shit look similar to actual zombies to me, I don't think we need hordes of another type of zombie.
Quite convinced it's going to have skeleton summoning mechanics, which means it'll be entirely unique in what it can do. We'll see.

An old ranger's trick, heheheh...
so is versus mode never going to be a thing?
its on """"""""hiatus""""""""
same with the mod support for Vermintide 1. :^)
it was bad idea from the start
Genuinely a masterpiece and the best co-op game ever made.
Pretty sure you can access maps without the dlc as long as the host have em. You can't cream the career dlcs , only cosmetics in Modded realm.
for the worth it depends on your prefered characters. I really like the Grail Knight weapons
>Hordes got dialed up
Good
your entire complaint is the result of, as the zoomers say,
skill issue
It's not hard, just boring. Every fight feels exactly the same.
skill issue, i can tell you play on legend
Just started playing this not too long ago. Maxed my Saltz and am working on Bardin so I can solo Legend easier with better kitted Bots. It's nice to see Ganker likes it. It's a blast.
A game that can be boring W+m1 on start but when you up the difficulty and dive into mechanics it's one of the best coop games of our time. For me it's a tie between VT2 and DRG, I like both for different reasons.
I realised I want to play it right after the sale ended.
keysites have it for dirt cheaip
