I always thought there was something comfy with environments in INFRA. Especially when you walk around in city and see the busy streets outside or going around Castle Rock near the end
they kind of weird
i mostly remember a part where you go into a dark hole or something and theres a bunch of zombies which made me pee my panties (im a woman btw)
In summary, OP;
Many like it. Few dislike it. No one cares about HL1/HL2 Deathmatch.
A few additional opinions you may encounter: >sex with alyx >1 is better than 2 >black mesa is inferior to 1 >fully modeled >reddit writing >growbar :DDD

Fact
The only thing black mesa has is BANG BANG WAHOO
Level design is worse than in the first game
Sure, it looks nice, but zoomers and retards alike don't even know what a good level design is nowadays. BANG BANG WAHOO and gunplay is better and that's the only thing they care about
>The levels are 1 to 1
The most schizo take on Black Mesa I have ever heard lmao.
Yeah, remember that part in the beginning where you have to set 500 zombies on fire with flares, haha? Oh wait, that's just stupid shit from Black Mesa! The list goes on, you are fucking delusional, idiot >you haven't played black Mesa
I did, before it had the xen levels
>these are real facts
Not really. I mean, you made them up. Here's a real one. When I fucked your mother before she gave birth to you in 2005, she said that moron dicks taste bad. This is a real fact.
>And Half-Life 1 had black scientists >Woke garbage
Zoomer, chill. You literally never played games in the 90s, so your opinion on HL1 doesn't matter.
That's like complaining that moron characters in the movie Commando is wokeness.
The thing is, it wasn't about wokeness back then, they just put morons in games just because, not to replace White people like today.
If we discount the shooter part then Portal 1 perfected the whole unbroken first person narrative and made the series obsolete in that regard which is why they doubled down on technological part after EP2 and currently struggling with that.
Every mainline HL game was impactful and still holds up well
Currently replaying HL2 in VR, as long as you skip boat/buggy levels it's good
Fuck physics puzzles in VR though, way easier in flatscreen
>Currently replaying HL2 in VR, as long as you skip boat/buggy levels it's good
Just sit for those, they're fine, only issue I had at release was the deadzone for steering the buggy but they fixed that after I did my playthrough
Still need to do ep1 and 2 though
Mapbase with VR support when
Though I agree it didn't quite develop the overall narrative, it did showcase a more down-to-earth pov that made things like combine influence, vortigaunt mysticism and stride threat feel more real.
It did also show a more meaningful relationship between the gman and the combine and how powerful both of them are relative to human tech

the only reason Alyx exists is because Valve believed the HL3 memes and thought this was going to sell their shitty VR hardware
they were gonna make episode 3 but when laidlaw leaked his rough draft they scrapped everything they had and started development on alyx, HL3 is gonna continue off the new timeline and suck
when i first got to the resistance base in hl2 and they introduced me to judith i was like "yes comfy intellectual milf gf" and then a minute or so later alyx comes off that elevator and i just knew they were gonna force this mutt on me and it was pretty much over
I was so absorbed in World of Warcraft I slept on HL2's release. Didn't even watch a trailer.
One day I was sick of WoW in 2006, went to Best Buy and saw "Game of the Year" on a box. Oh a sequel to Half Life? And it comes with Counter Strike: Source? I bet this is cool.
Spent the next 12 hours getting my mind fucking blown. It was like being the main character in a post apocalypse sci-fi movie. The ambience, the story, the combat, the pacing. It still hasn't been topped. All source games evolved from that engine too. TF2, the Portal games, LFD, CS. The whole thing was just legendary.
also wondered why few talked about Ep 1 and then i realized it's because of orange box.
EP 1 is really city 17 redeemed. some of urban combat sections are very good.
they're all great games. platforming and movement in the engine that half-life 1 uses is amazing so it's always fun to replay. HL2 is great as well but i think a lot of people now don't get some of it because they're not playing HL1 first or aren't paying attention to the plot.
everyone here shits on Alyx but i actually liked it, i was impressed with what Valve did with VR but there were still parts i didn't like. a lot of the puzzles were just boring and bad, not really like the other games. the shooting, graphics, and immersion was 10/10 though. pretty much everything interactable.
>how old are you
Too late, that kitten is mine and we're now on discord, discussing when to meet.
You will never know intimacy. You will never know love. You are less than dirt. I am NOT projecting I am NOT projecting I AM NOT PROJECTING I'M NOT
Half Life 1 is a classic and i don't think anyone would dispute that. HL2 has some very strong sections but also a lot of time-wasting bullshit
Ep1 was pretty mid but I have a special hatred for Ep2. It's the one people pretend is good but it fucking sucks cock and is almost entirely focussed on lame scripted sequences with just a few actual good levels
It's actually freaky how well HL2 holds up in VR, like it feels natural and native and not forced like some other VR ports/conversions like Doom 3 (mod version)
HL1 is one of my go-to comfy games. BM is good for what it is but something about the atmosphere and sound design in the original makes it very cosy to me.
by the time I got into pc gaymen we were all doing L4D2
I love 1 and kinda like 2 and its episodes. Felt like Ep1 dragged the story down a lot. Anyways watch out for the schizo
HL1: Based
Blue Shift: Based
Opposing Force: Based
HL2: Gigabased
Alyx: Woke turd dogshite
>Alyx: Woke turd dogshite
t. Poorfag
t. moron
Yes, you certainly are one
VR will take off any day now.
How in the fuck is Alyx "woke", you retard?
SOVL
The graphics are so right in HL2.
realistic but still has atmosphere, it's not present in modern games
i felt this way about Infra.
I always thought there was something comfy with environments in INFRA. Especially when you walk around in city and see the busy streets outside or going around Castle Rock near the end

Can you be my gamer girl friend? I can help you beat Half-Life 2.
first one is alright
second one is unfinished, therefore it's garbage and a waste of time
30+ boomer here
i play through all of them once a year. always a treat
I THINK OPPOSING FORCE SUCKS
I think same way you do.

I don't like morons, but your point is wrong
If we discount the shooter part then Portal 1 perfected the whole unbroken first person narrative and made the series obsolete in that regard which is why they doubled down on technological part after EP2 and currently struggling with that.
Loved 1. 2 was ok. Couldn't be bothered finishing episode 1.
He's a highly trained professional
HL1 is one of the greatest games of all time, and also one of the games that most severely damaged the FPS genre.
HL2 graphics and physics blew my mind when I first played it.
I'm playing HL2 again after like eight years, it's still perfect.
Every mainline HL game was impactful and still holds up well

Except Alyx
Alyx still makes VRkeks seethe, as they compare every new game release to Alyx
I hate Alyx because it didn't progress the story beyond episode 2, and that came out 15 fucking years ago.
Almost like it isn't a sequel.
Though I agree it didn't quite develop the overall narrative, it did showcase a more down-to-earth pov that made things like combine influence, vortigaunt mysticism and stride threat feel more real.

>they were totally gonna make hl3 guys
>draft was released over 10 years after ep2 release
copium overdose
knowing how valve is it was probably getting rebuilt from the ground up every sunday because playtesters didnt like it. they cancel tons of games.
The first game is fun almost all throughout, the second one gets really boring after Ravenholm and stays that way until the end
when i first got to the resistance base in hl2 and they introduced me to judith i was like "yes comfy intellectual milf gf" and then a minute or so later alyx comes off that elevator and i just knew they were gonna force this mutt on me and it was pretty much over
And I bet you hailed Hitler and ate your pizza rolls
r/ifuckinglovesöyence nu-game design cinematic goyslop garbage. Also very gnomish and le evil nazi space empire as the villians for the 100th time.
Actually they're gommunist.
mid af no cap
1 and its expansions are some of the best shit ever. Except for Xen. That shit sucks.
2 and the Episodes are some of the best shit ever.
Don't care about everything after that.
I was so absorbed in World of Warcraft I slept on HL2's release. Didn't even watch a trailer.

once you start playing it its very hard to put down. incredibly inticing games, both the first and the second
you can play the HL1 campaign in multiplayer servers in Sven Co-op, very fun HL mod/standalone game on steam.
Gave up on shilling zps, have you?
you DID download and play it right?
That fucking bloom, yuck.
ASSIGNMENT: TERMINATED
SUBJECT: FREEMAN

the real reason half-life 3 will never be
my dad played it

HL2 VR is fun though just by virtue of VR
It's actually freaky how well HL2 holds up in VR, like it feels natural and native and not forced like some other VR ports/conversions like Doom 3 (mod version)
If only there was a some textures mod with higher resolution it would be a 10/10 vr game
There's a few already actually
AI upscales but it works well enough
Also gotta get the remade HL2 props pack thing and all the Alyx ports
Will always love this video.
?si=qS9kNHUPF6LyNiU8
movie when?
>everyone shat on his awful casting so he brought it to another thread on a different board
LASER
Love everything about Half Life. I even liked Xen
1 is a great game that killed FPS as a genre for the next ~15 years
2 is 50% gimmick bullshit and represents everything bad about 2000s shooters
Somebody made these very good videos about the HL universe
If you want to experience Half Life play in this order:
1.Black Mesa (Remake of HL1 that's better in every way)
2. Half Life 2
that's it, everything else is a waste of time.
Games are fun but nothing unique like they used to be.
>Black Mesa
>better in every way
No, fuck off
give me one reason why Black Mesa isn't better in every way you retard
>you cant
It lacks soul, it completely misses the tone of the original game, and its version of Xen is even worse than the old Xen
>muh soulllll!!!!
your childhood is gone retard, the future is better. A Honda Odyssey has a faster 0 to 60 than a 90s Porsche 911 Cabriolet lmao
>you cant
NTA, but I can
>one reason
You have to take the train in On A Rail.
Linux version is so terrible that it's an insult they're even selling it.
HL1 is one of my go-to comfy games. BM is good for what it is but something about the atmosphere and sound design in the original makes it very cosy to me.
