They didn't "frick them up", they're just incredibly lazy ports of the original games. They run worse and look worse than on fricking Dreamcast.

SA2b still have same issues that plague DX but at least it got ported with more care since most of original game staff worked on it and used extra power to polish it.

DX is late port had way less people working on it, just cheap cash grab.

Nu-devs have no idea how old game's shading worked. Even basic stuff like vertex colors.

      Anonymous

The thing is that vertex is used on GC sadx, but got borked on PC release along with frickton of other issues, then ports fricked up even harder because its a port of a port of a port.

But SADX proto had a half baked light engine, dunno what happened.

What's the fricking point of this meme if it's just an edit and not from a real episode? Is it literally just using le ebin spongeboob for ez karma?

Intended to represent how the GC port doesn't properly shade objects in nighttime locations, autist-kun.

I see the point being made, moron, I'm saying the execution of the joke is moronic. There's no point using a screencap of a fricking house if you have to change fundamental parts of it to get your point across to the point where it doesn't connect to the episode at all. I couldn't even tell you what episode the screencap came from, while even the shitty spongebob memes like the chicken one or the evil patrick one are distinct and recognizable. This is just attention whoring in a PNG

          >where it doesn't connect to the episode at all. I couldn't even tell you what episode the screencap came from
You need to recognize the episode to understand the image? This doesn't make any sense

            Anonymous

Like I said dumbass, the joke is clear, but there's no actual punchline that makes the use of spongebob relevant. In the coffin meme, the context is that they think squidward is a ghost and they're helping him go to the afterlife. In a meme context, you can at least say "haha, that's kind of the same". Or for an older meme, the salty spitoon one, the format goes almost word for word with the original script
            >how tough are ya
            >[accomplishment that's notoriously hard such as a boss in a game or something]
In OP's fricking meme it's just "look I edited a spongebob screenshot, laugh!" There's no reason to use spongebob over a stock image or something. I wouldn't even mind if it was spongebob if there was an episode with lighting errors or something similar but this is just a lazy fricking splice of two different screenshots

its just a way of conveying a point.

Most people who play a remaster wont even notice anything wrong and their frame of reference is very limited, compared to one of the most commonly loved cartoons everyone has watched.

Lack of attention to detail, lack of time or budget, and any difficulty in porting certain effects makes it really easy to say "ah just forget it nobody will care" over and over. The latter is the reason why so many HD rereleases of PS2 games end up losing lots of special effects.

it came out a year or two after SA2B and like five or six years after SA on dreamcast. I can believe Battle was still all hands on deck since they wanted a good first showing on their multiplatform release and because they already knew by the time it came out on DC they were done with that system anyway. SADX was just a quick cashgrab done inbetween Heroes and Shadow, which by the way also shows where Sega was mentally at the time since even if you like those games for some reason it was an era where Sonic Team was being strained too thin for its own good to stay afloat after barely managing to not go completely under a few years prior and just churned out game after game. As much as I shit on Forces and have low expectations for Frontiers I can at least acknowledge that those games were given a fair shake with time in the oven. Shadow never had a fricking chance.
