Luckily, with very little know-how, you don't have to spend anything on video games besides having to buy a moderate PC that can play games until 2015 or emulate older consoles.

            op here
i did buy an 1000 dollar pc setup but im still saving up for the most expensive part, the gpu. its like 500 bucks. but in the meantime im using my laptop to run my shit
i dont want Ganker to be my own personal tech support but if you wanna know what laptop im running its the acer aspire 5 with a i5-1135g7
i can run bf1 on low with 50 percent render resolution. its super pixalated but its still fun. i get lag sometimes but its mostly fine

            Hobbies often require money

    Grab emulators for consoles like
    >NES
    >SNES
    >GBA
    >PSP
    >PS1 (also known as PSX)
    >maybe even the Atari 2600 if you are feeling very retro
As for games, just google "Top 100 games for [console]" and download anything that catches your eye.
There's literally no way your computer is bad enough to emulate GBA, even old WinXP machines could do that with Intel Pentium.

Alternatively, go for older, all-time gems like
    >Heroes of Might and Magic 3
    >Thief (the first one)
    >Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2
    >Crazy Taxi (for PC)
    >old Lego games like Rock Raiders, Lego Racers, Lego Island 2
    >Star Wars Episode 1 Racers
    >Need for Speed Most Wanted or Underground 2
    >Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
    >Worms Armageddon
    >XCom UFO Defense (preferably modded with The XCom Files or XPirtaes)
    >early versions of Minecraft
    >Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
    >The Dig
    >Grand Theft Auto 3 and San Andreas
    >Metal Gear (the original)
    >old Point & Click games like Day of the Tentacle or Secret of Monkey Island
    >Plants Vs. Zombies 1
    >Sid Meiers Pirates
    >The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall
    >Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
    >Warcraft 3
    >Diablo 2
    >Half Life 1 & 2

As for "newer" good games that might run on your shit hardware:
    >One Finger Death Punch 1 & 2
    >Darkest Dungeon
    >Castle Crashers (better with friends)
    >The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion
    >Orcs Must Die!
    >Saints Row 1 & 2
    >Bully Scholarship Edition
    >StarWars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy
    >StarWars Republic Commando
    >Terraria
    >Vampire Survivors
    >the newer XCom games like Enemy Unknown

and finally, be sure to try to emulate the PS2. If you can run that on your hardware, it's a genuine goldmine of awesome games.
    Have fun OP

Great post anon. Lots of cool games that I completely forgot about and gave me a rush of nostalgia, like Uplink, Ghost Master or Kings Bounty.
Although OP specified that their hardware is really bad and I'm not sure that
        >newer Hitman games
        >PvZ Garden Warfare 2
        >Farcry Blood Dragon
        >newer Splinter Cell games
        would run on his rig.

I'd like to include games like PopCap games or the entire Reflexive Arcade collection. The latter is not that great, but it's still enjoyable and one can grab the entire archive on cs rin.

Imo the only worth playing games from the modern KB reboots are the ones in the King's Bounty: Platinum bundle. The rest of the games from the first reboot get progressively worse and KB2 from the second reboot is a souless and broken mess. Also the studio that made the first reboot made the Space Rangers series which is also worth checking out.
