I tried the Steam version of Deadly Premonition a while ago, and couldn't get cutscenes to work (even after some Protontricks tweaks). Maybe I'll try it again someday, but I just checked ProtonDB and all I'm seeing is shit I already tried, and some new Deck reports which don't even claim to get all videos working.
It's unbelievable that so many problems are caused just by developers needlessly using proprietary video codecs.
dunno about the steam version, but I remember there were 3 videos specifically encoded differently from the rest. If you reencode them you can get them working. If you're interested, I could find a command that'd handle it for you.
Been trying to run cosmoteer through wine, had no success so far. If I do it through the terminal I get some stack overflow error, not very helpful. I don't know if I can stick to this Linux thing, I like browse torrents for random indie games that I play for a couple of weeks at most and sadly Linux simply doesn't have that flexibility. It's a real shame, I have truly enjoyed the depth of customisation that Linux offers, something that's been on my mind since watching Ross' video on customizing your OS.
Nier automata oddly enough. Still testing to see what broke, either it's a lutris wine version update or I shouldn't have deleted the prefix after installing it and japjank needs particular registry entries.
very ironic. While the game has jank, I don't think anything should be holding it back. I think the game only uses steam drm so I'd try to use goldberg rather than some random steam crack if possible

According to this it works.

I forget what those errors are called, but they always mean a wine bug. What version are you using?
It's not about game working or not working. It's the ease and flexibility that windows offers while Linux demands you wean off. As for version I think 8.0.2.
Most games just werk, some games never will. It's an entirely different operating system. Moving to linux just for games is retarded. >As for version I think 8.0.2
If you're using steam it should work per protondb. I'll test it myself with wine-ge.
My current install has been going for at least 5 years.

Ok, this is what I did, step by step >download the update from may 20th >extracted >created a new folder to start with a fresh wine prefix >added a new manual game to lutris >selected wine as runner >in "game" tab put the new folder as wine prefix >in "game" tab specified the game as the executable >enabled debugging info on "runner options" tab (just in case it didn't work, wasn't needed) >click save >click play
Pirated copy. Linux or not, buying games, when pirating them has no downsides, makes me feel like I'm wasting money.

Also, I should add that my lutris was set to use the same version as this anon

0.22 just worked out of the box for me on lutris-ge-proton 8-7. Ayymd cpu + gpu, latest dxvk and vkd3d, fsync on.
when switching to my system's wine the game would crash after the intial loading screen.
why buy food when you could just take it from people right after they get it?
i don't lime modern devs admittedly but the argument of wasting money when you could just take something for free kinda falls flat in my eyes
Hitman.
I pirated Capcom arcade recently, just made sure it was working and I'll probably be playing later tonight.
Please don't give him hands
strange, I believe it is windows who automatically wipes your gnu/linux partition and replaces your UEFI entries
the joke does kinda fall flat if you've ever dual booted on the same drive and watched windows delete grub
Im running 40 instances of Team Fortress 2 for free items and trolling servers i dont like

I hope the anons that were having game issues done their way here
so what games have you tried but failed to get running? Aside from video and anticheat issues

I can try giving this a look in a bit.

Working with lutris 7-41. Very strange as it works fine starting a new game with lutrs 8-7, but crashed when loading my old save files.
boktai is interesting
Cute Rei.

>Arch Linux
What's the longest you've gone without having to reinstall because an update broke shit?
It's never happened to me, so I guess however long I've been using Arch.
Like ten years ago when i tried to dualboot Windows 8.1 alongside Arch Linux.
you been usin the same computer for ten years?

RE4 since it got cracked
Death Stranding since it's free on the goystore
Dead Island 2 since I got it free with my GPU
So toobie's game works fine with lutris wine 7 and breaks with lutris wine 8, and apparently the same happens with proton.
