What games you can't believe came out on this?

Its hard to believe MGS1 came out on this when there are some other games that are barely above snes level released at the same time on it.

Wipeout 3. It still plays better than any of the subsequent games released even today

Now that game does look impressive, I’d add maybe GT2 as well

I don't get it why you think you can say shit like that when you know very little about both libraries. Are you in your early 20's phase that you know better than everyone else?

I guarantee I’ve played more than you have on that system
FF9 fits right in with the system with its pre-rendered backgrounds and low res characters, not saying it looks bad because it looks good, does not fit with OPs statement

even if that was true you have no way of knowing all the games available on both platforms to justify completely denying my post but you still like to sound like you are a smartass that know exactly what you are talking about
            why are you like this

All I’m saying is it’s looks like a PS1 game, a good looking game but it still looks like a PS1 game
Maybe something like megaman legends 2 would fit the OPs post

Nope, there’s no correcting statement here
It was just PlayStation until PS2 came out no one said PSX out loud and no one says that now out loud

Wait until OP finds out about Sheep Dog n Wolf

Fear Effect looks incredible for a PS1 game, of course the trade off is it's a 3-hour game on 4 discs

The jump to PS2 was a wild ride. I spent minutes flabbergasted that my character hair actually moved moved by the amazing technology advancements.

Because devs were lazy. They were making older style games for the market that is used to that type of games.
Few games actually used PS1 to the full 3d potential.

This game does absolutely look great, but the image is using emulation to increase the resolution by a large margin, I find more often than not this just reveals more flaws than was apparent originally

But then the same can be said about the monitor you are using and the tv it was meant to use.

In a sense I suppose, with CRT’s and all that, but we are talking about how advanced they looked at the time of release

So it would depend heavily on what tv you are using

Not really, the polygon count and resolution doesn’t change
It’s still going to be 240p on PS1

TR3 looked better on PS1 than on PC, and not just optimization but complete particle systems like different rain and water effects, and different lighting. Some people complained that the console version is too dark, but I thought it adds immersion and forces you to use flares more often for soulful dark illumination. The lighting also makes more sens from realistic point of view, the game has many dark caverns and tunnels without sources of light that realistically should be pitch black. But the underwater section of London is indeed, hell to navigate because of complete lack of lighting.

To be fair I think the frame rate on PS1 were pretty unstable and low
But yeah, often the PC versions of games couldn’t do a lot of the effects and lighting made for console versions, of course games made for PC first shit all over the console games

If I remember correctly it wasn't even because of the hardware but because of lack of time in development.
