I know what happened to me.
I stopped hanging out with Sonic & friends after the Rio De Janeiro 2016 Olympics, and I'm now hanging out with the characters shown here:
There's too fricking many of them. It's plainly completely unreasonable to incorporate all of them into games. Also most of them don't really fit with Boost.
They don't have to all be in every game (that's what got them banished in the first place) but I'd like it if they cycled through them between games. Like one game could be a game where Blaze and Silver play a large role and then the next game Team Dark is important while Blaze and Silver sit that one out because they're not needed for the plot.

Anyone else get the vibe that as Luigi got better roles and improved as a character, tails got worse roles and regressed?

I think blaze, shadow, and tails could work, I’ve seen pretty good mods for all three of them in generations

With Tails you'd have to take vertical stage design into consideration, or do something like SA1

Blaze won't be with Silver anytime soon.
