No thank you. I desperately want them gone and real complex temples brought back. Shrines aren't even a creative way to award heart pieces.

    >there are people who unironically think the Water Temple is bad game design because they lack basic spatial reasoning ability

      Anonymous

The water temple is bad because they put locked doors behind locked doors with no indication that you need both small keys before proceeding, so if you only picked up the one key, you end up hitting a dead end and then have to cycle the water levels on the entire dungeon just to check for the key you missed. And this setup happens twice. It's a bad design.

It's the opposite, it punishes players with good memories and exploration instincts because if you remember to go back for a locked door once you find a key, you're punished with a dead end and a huge waste of time.

        >The water temple is bad because they put locked doors behind locked doors with no indication that you need both small keys before proceeding,
This is a good thing. It rewards spatial reasoning and exploration. Did you want Navi to pop up at tell you that you need 2 keys before proceeding? Or maybe you want a button on the start menu that can open and close every locked door in real time from where you're standing.

          Anonymous

No it punishes the instinct to use the key you find on the locked door you remember. Just have doors that require two small keys somehow. Then the objective is immediately clear and you don't waste a bunch of time.

The door having two locks would keep the exact same layout. It just saves two unlucky backtracks in a dungeon where backtracking sucks shit because you have to go through the same rooms over again to cycle water levels and each room takes involves putting on and taking off the fricking boots.

When it came out, I saved and quit on water temple then took a long break, I couldn’t remember at all where to go.

Later on my second play through I breezed it and didn’t even have to cycle the water.

No, but when Nintendo makes a bland "open world game" where most of the map is fricking nothing and all you do is pick up random garbage & climb ubisoft towers, everyone suddenly starts acting like Ubislop open world design is mindblowing and genius because nintendo did it

Its just like how everyone acted like building vehicles is some mindblowing revolutionary feature and collectively forgot block vehicle genre has been around for many years

perhaps it would be more accurate for me to say that its very hard for me to visualize things and then its hard to do these certain kinds of puzzles. not impossible, but its hard. I can have full conversations with myself with my inner monologue just fine, but when i try to visualize things its usually a very brief blimp in my mind and not very high detail unless its my girlfriend or something. This makes these types of puzzles very fun because its like I know its possible and if i sit down and draw maps for things its easy for me to figure out. I wonder if that makes me an npc. I dont think I am but who knows.

Why is it that there are only two kind of Zelda fans when it comes to TOTK. One side loves it, the other absolutely hates it. I wouldn't know if it is bad or not since I've never played TOTK or BOTW, but, I do love OoT, MM and TP.

I'm truly not sure how people love the two newest games. I played a lot of botw and a lot of old Zelda. The new ones aren't very good and are designed around gameplay that just doesn't stay interesting or feel rewarding.

I remember being kind of excited about ultra hand in the gameplay trailer. After a few uses of it in game I was over it and ignored every opportunity to use it unless absolutely required.
The fact that they put those little parts stations everywhere underground is honestly kind of embarrassing.

Dungeons aren't really needed in nuZelda tbh. You should treat the entire map like a single, open ended dungeon.
I generally have more fun figuring out how to quickly cross a river than getting locked in a room where I need to reenact a bunch of arbitrary tasks so that a door opens or w/e.
