Capitalism bad, luddites are the heroes, and robot maids are inherently evil. At least you’re not playing Oddity cuz that’ll get you laughed at by us gigachad Non-Namedbros.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go back to saving the universe from the threat of the Amberosa and its soldier drones with the incomplete Non-Named demo.
More generic JRPG than EarthBound with generic JRPG storytelling and character-driven story. It's also obnoxiously railroaded with points-of-no-return at every step.
The pacing is atrocious. Story gets set up at the intro, then literally fucking nothing happens for the next 10 hours, and the entire game is 20 hours long. It adds a rhythm combat gimmick which is really weak and inconsequential (Remember EarthBound's rolling HP? Rhythm attacks don't pause the rolling so if you want to waste time to deal some shit-tier chip damage then go ahead). The point is that it maximizes your damage per turn but it wastes an obnoxious amount of real-world time to use.
Retards think that Mother 3's story is critiquing capitalism, but it's absolutely NOT. The game implies that currency itself is evil and life is better if you "just trade goods and services lol I dunno haha". It's unironically advocating for Luddism and it's fucking bizarre.
It made me disappointed in Itoi's intelligence if this is what he actually believes.
The story also has some EXTREMELY cringe social commentary which amounts to "TVs bad, money bad, working bad, urbanization bad, technology encroaching on nature bad". However, the problem is that every "societal issue" it presents is just intentionally caused by the evil cartoon villains, for no reason other than because they're evil. This removes all moral nuance from the issues that the game presents, as the villains could have been causing literally ANY other issues and it would've made no difference.
shut the fuck up you pissant shit-sucking retard
the way the internet has enabled people like you is fucking insane. to think that anyone under the age of 40 has unironically read Kascynski’s manifesto, let alone agrees with it when you presumably grew up with pre-2013 internet in your life is so intellectually rancid i can smell you from here
There are many parts of the game that play into the fact that the people of the Nowhere Islands (Christ that name is almost as bad as Non-Named), who somehow lived in a utopian society without a need for currency, were negatively affected as a consequence of an outside force introducing not only the concept of supply-side economics but also modern technology. Personally, while I can see why people believe that Mother 3 is an anti-capitalist story that’s almost as ham-fisted and illogical as Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee (not a bad game by any means, but why cut up your laborers who also happen to make up your consumer-base instead of using your funds to hire the Vykkers to create imitation scrabs or domesticate paramites and mutate them into hideous farm animals whose only purpose is to be slaughtered and turned into tasty treats), especially with the easy “Haha Porky is a capitalist therefore his entire mercenary team is a bunch of pigs too!!! Get it?! CAPITALIST PIGS?! Hahaha!!! XD”, I see Mother 3’s story as being more anti-technology. But commies just love to get their disgusting, art-destroying hands onto anything and say it’s part of their cause.
But, essentially, that’s why. Now, here’s Callie to cleanse your palette: her job in Non-Named is that of a fitness model and, with her job, she’s afforded leisure time to hang out with her friend Milly.
>Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
Man, this isn’t something that’s just confined to the career of Lorne Lanning, but when I look at how much effort and supposed artistry was put into imbuing Oddworld with social commentary, then mentally smash-cut to “ODDWORLD CREATOR LORNE LANNING SAYS CAPITALISM IS KILLING VIDEO GAMES” 15 years later, it makes me epic lol. Every leftist artist has the thing where they start out presenting nuanced and soft-spoken opinions in all their interviews in the early phase of their career, and then 1-2 decades later they’re advocating racial genocide or something. Rage Against The Machine is a great example of that as well as Alan Moore.
The hilarious part is that Lorne Lanning now has right-leaning views, at least, if his Twitter follows are anything to go by.
Now THAT makes me omega lol.
Politics and the rest of normalfag history in general should have died with the birth of the internet. The fact that anyone under 50 can explain who Posadas is is pretty fuckin’ horrible.
Destroying the planet isn't very conducive to long term profit. Ecological awareness is something we still struggle with today. Avalanche wasn't fighting to instate an all powerful government that has total control over what everyone does for a living and what they get in return like commies/socialists.
Did you not understand my plot summary? My bad, homie, here it is with all my nonsense cut out:
Ooga booga, money bad, primitivism gud, my robot girl from game I like is better than robot girl in other game. Ooh ooh ahh ahh.
Here, I’ll toss this shitty render in for you as a condolence gift for my shit writing.
My fault, bro. So here’s the quick rundown on Non-Named:
It’s a demo of a now-lost game called Non-Named. Two girls named Callie and Milly live on the titular island and, while they were little, Milly gets kidnapped by an eldritch beast known as the Amberosa and taken away. After about 17 years Milly mysteriously returns to the island and her best friend Callie go on a small journey to show her how the island had changed since she was gone. As Milly is now able to sense the threat of the Amberosa growing, now that it seeks to warp all of reality into its own utopia where the Amberosa rules as God, she convinces Callie to join her in a two-party assault on Crypt City, the now warped version of East Town and base of operations of the Amberosa. Anticipating this threat, the Amberosa created an army of Soldier Drones, once ambassadors for the Amberosa to humanity, along with mutating many of the humans and other creatures of the island into beings made of pure null-matter to destroy the two girls.
As the quest continues, it’s hinted that Milly’s hiding a dark secret from her friend; what that secret is I won’t spoil but it’s a doozy.
Good game, really wish fillergames, also known as AKA Flargy-Filler hadn’t purged his account so I could leave a link for you guys to play it. Also kinda wish I had known how to download .swf files so I could reupload it somewhere.
Here’s some concept art I dug up from my research. If you’d like, I can give you a link to the archive. But I think I’ll just leave it at this point.
So, back to Mother 3: is Fassad supposed to be a Magypsie, or what?
I already tried and failed to make a point-and-click RPG out of it. Actually, it wasn’t so much as failed, but I got embarrassed by making it and stopped. Besides, it’s easier to shill the now lost demo of a fantastic game than to try and replicate its soul.
People who can make an anti-capitalist entertainment product and then release it on the capitalist market are absolutely fucking next level
Imagine evolving for millions of years just to end up like that
a sad and humorous game with a slow start.
it's overall a pretty good "finale" to the mother series but there are some parts that could've been better.
and the ending is fitting for the game but i don't like the ending for it being the last game in the series.
>A Mother 3 thread, when im preciselly playing it
Wow....
BTW, how do I beat the Jealous Bass and its companions that attack before me in combo attacks that kill me? Does the Saltwater gun works on at least the weeping guitar? Or do I have to grind more?
Mother 3 is a fantastic game. There are a few loudmouthed jackoffs on this board who played the game in bad faith, and pretend that Mother 3 only exists to preach a singular worldview to you. It doesn't. It's an enjoyable adventure on its own terms, made by a creator who believes in the player bringing their own experience to the game. And I have the receipts from the Nindori.com interview to prove it.
The logo hasn't changed since the N64 version. There were all kinds of subtitles attached to it in the N64 version, but why did you just stick to MOTHER 3 by itself this time?
Itoi: The meaning behind a game changes a lot between players. Players add more than half of the meaning and value to games, which is more than any other mode of expression. So I feel like that half that you've added is entirely your own... all I did was provide assistance. So keeping that in mind, subtitles have too strong a message that says, "I want you to look at it this way." It narrows that world that belongs to the player. My personal feelings steer me to want to affirm everything the player thinks about the game. I wanted to make MOTHER 3 like a mirror. One that reflects the heart of the player off of the screen.
tldr; If all you get out of Mother 3 is 'capitalism bad', then it's just reflecting how shallow your own imagination is that you can't see past the pathetic little culture war you waste your life malding about day-in, day-out.
we still don’t understand the psychological mechanism behind why people hate those monkeys
i’m not one to shed a tear over normalfags who want to strangle monkeys but i ain’t watching that shit, i think monkeys are very cute

>think monkeys are very cute
me too. that's why monkey abuse saddens me.
i've heard people hating them has something to do with them looking like primitve and twisted versions of humans or something.
idk if it's true.
and for mother 3, i just didn't like the chapter system where you don't get control of lucas until chapter 4 and it takes hours to get there. everything else just feels like a long story setup and tutorial.
An objectively worse game than EarthBound/Mother 2, with a story that beats you over the head with the point instead of trusting you to find any meaning on your own.
But still good.
Interesting game which tries to include a greater focus on the actual narrative over EB's and M0's more adventure focussed aspect. Your mileage may vary, but I preferred it, although I like all three games.
In what ways does EB even have a leg to stand on in this regard? Unless you really dislike the rythm combo system (which is undeniably well implemented and thought out, regardless).
CAPITALISM BAD
>Capitalism bad
but why?
because japan was experiencing a minor recession at the time and itoi is a short sided alarmist

Believing that "capitalism bad" is the theme of this game means you're listening to what leftist gays think the game is about.
>ackshually it's about materialism, not capitalism
yeah, real subtle

if you care about this game so much then pick up the concept and turn it into a game instead of just shilling it in every mother thread

>the last game in the series.
can i just play this one? i like the frog in a car
you can but you'd miss out on references and the last boss is from mother 2/earthbound
No, it's a direct sequel to EarthBound so the latter part of the game won't make much sense
Literally the most Tedpilled game out there. Down to the chud part.
I know this is a Ted Kaczynski joke, but what did he say about trannies?
>A Mother 3 thread, when im preciselly playing it
Wow....
BTW, how do I beat the Jealous Bass and its companions that attack before me in combo attacks that kill me? Does the Saltwater gun works on at least the weeping guitar? Or do I have to grind more?
Jealous Bass is the biggest difficulty spike in the game, don't remember if there was a strat to it other than grinding

gimicky attack mechanics, a repetitive, preachy, predictable story, and a disgusting chud that rapes your character.
Pokey (Porky) did nothing wrong
Animal abuse and middle eastern war lords.
Was he the original Million Pity monkey abuser?
i wanna find one of those monkey abuse comments and just fade his face over it
i imagined it and it made me laff
>all these monkey abusers publicly gloating about torture
why is this allowed?
and why do people hate monkeys so much?

Everyone dying at the end. Look it up.

SOUL
The gameplay is better than earthbound but I prefer the previous game's writing, mood and pacing.

I just can't agree with this.

have a nice day, pedofag.
some retarded dino filter 2 hours in that probably requires 3 hours of grinding to beat
Flint can buff his defense for free, how are you this bad
