Skull's bang on the money, but he's not the medicine. He's a symptom who'll make the disease worse by putting the 'parasites, greedy polluters and psychotic madmen' on top forever (look up how many mega-companies and financial institutions profited from the Third Reich). Shallow sophistry can't hide his nature any more than his ugly mug, and the writers intend for you to see right through that, not agree with him.

Capitalism and free market dynamics was originally a liberal concept. Consider what the word "liberal" literally means:
        >willing to respect or accept behavior or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas.
That's exactly what open markets does. It exposes you to new products and ideas in a competitive environment where those new things may very well outcompete your traditional stuff. If a cultural foreigner makes a better product, your conservative traditions can get fricked.

What happened throughout the 16th-20th centuries is that market liberalism proved SO successful it drove market skeptics--in practice if not in rhetoric--to virtual extinction. So new conservative thinkers and political parties in rich countries just folded markets into their beliefs about the sanctified conservative traditions of human society.

But psychologically, it's still a liberal idea which is why it's so easy for conservatives to fall into market skepticism.

Extreme right-wingers essentially want a return to what it was like before the French Revolution.
This can be seen from the point of view of a centrist liberal/conservative type as an anti-capitalist stance because they argue against materialism, but communism and capitalism are both rooted in materialism, so the claim doesn't really hold under scrutiny.

In Suikoden tierkreis the villain traps everyone in the world inside a loop where the happiest day of their life repeats over and over (their memory gets wiped). He did this to relieve the days when his family wasn't dead. It is actually quite kino because the game just makes you replay the intro scene a couple of times. house and legion are both acceptable choices because they're checking the biggest cancer in the region

          Anonymous

yeah but I can see the legion equally going to shit

the legion's entire philosophy is "we will make people violent savages, but rule them with such authority that they will be forced to comply" but that just makes me think that if they ever DID actually control everything, then their eyes couldn't be everywhere all at once and the basic troops would basically just be raiders whenever a superior isn't looking, who then pretend like everything is fine and that they aren't raping and abusing the civilians when someone comes to check on them

it's also not looking good for the legion because it's a cult of personality based around one man who has a terminal illness, as soon as he kicks the bucket it's incredibly likely the entire organisation will be hijacked by someone who pretends to hold Caesar's values but in reality just wants the power

            Anonymous

            >we will make people violent savages,
I mean, they are already all tribals basically.

            >cult of personality based around one man who has a terminal illness
Christianity did pretty well after their guy died. I think this is too often a criticism leveled against the Legion that just doesn't make much sense.

              Anonymous

Caesar’s successor is Lanius who is a military tactician who treats everything like a military target to be destroyed. Just compare how Caesar takes over Vegas compared to Lanius’ method. Caesar wanted to transform his nomadic army into an empire over time, however with Lanius in charge that will never change and the Legion will die a slow death by attrition as a slaver army.

                Anonymous

That is incidental. If lanius were dead then the criticism of having a cult of personality is still there. They either can or cannot transform into something better after Caesar is dead.

              Anonymous

              >Christianity did pretty well after their guy died
that's a very loaded statement that I think a lot of people disagree with
hell if we're going down that path then it's actually a very apt comparison

              >ideology corrupted by successors to the point where centuries later people claim they follow the teachings and then break nearly every single rule, but still act like this makes them right

modern christianity has become a fashion choice more than anything, most of the people who claim to be christian are either moronic or LARPing and thinking they can trick god into getting into heaven when they die, because they don't follow even half of the fricking rules that the holy book sets out so they MUST be hoping that god (the omniscient creator) somehow misses the part where they ignored his rules?

that's what the legion would become: the legion in name only, but in reality it's just the same shit as before except with some people claiming they are special because they wear a faction like a badge of honour despite being the antithesis of everything it originally stood for
just look at Ganker, there are tons of people on here who will spew hate on god's behalf despite the entire fricking new testament saying "turn the other cheek", they will demand people's deaths and then in the same sentence denounce people who don't believe in god, as if Jesus didn't tell people to "love thy neighbour" and "treat unto others as you would have them treat unto you"

this is the eventual fate of the legion as far as I see it: a hollow facade bolstered by psychopaths and hypocrites who want to use it's power for their own selfish reasons

                Anonymous

It's a pretty bold post you have their anon. Whether followers corrupted Christ is a topic you could write volumes about but what I mean is that Caesar could be some mythic figure within a generation and his guiding light could be fantastic for the followers. They could use him as a galvanising figure that brings the wasteland together.

The Courier is the Legion’s Augustus. Ever wonder why Caesar explains his entire philosophy to a stranger and minted the Courier’s face on a coin for future generations to see? He was grooming them to become his successor.

Had he beat Yugi in the finals not only would he have sent the Pharaoh to the afterlife where he could met all of his bros again but he would have killed the last bit of Bakura thus saving the world all of this proves he was correct in pursuing his revenge.

It's not. His whole thing is that he saw long ago the current thread of existence was doomed to die out and something needed to be done about it. Restart it. A big ol' reset-and-retry. Tabula rasa. But no-one had the balls to go through with it or realize that the end in this case justified the means, because the means are ultimately irrelevant if you unmake and reset everything on an omniversal scale.

The major problem is that because he dared to break every taboo in the book, the Darkness eventually took him and he went off the deep end. For more than a bit. But he did stay true to his actual plan; he just became completely unhinged and uncaring about ANYTHING else in the process, literally. Less heart left in the guy than in a fricking Heartless.

Whether he was right or not, is something we won't get to see unless we strap in for at least 3 to 6 more installments of Nomura's wild ride though - with whatever new story arcs are being penned.

Basically the age of dark ending from Dark Souls but not tragic and depressing? Pretty good.

            Anonymous

Putting out the flame in Dark Souls is the good ending, though. First of all, it's made clear that humans are the darkness, and the gods are the fire. It's in the name, "dark souls", referring to human souls. But the dark isn't necessarily bad or evil in the story, it's just something that isn't being touched by the flames of the gods. Second, the gods are not doing a great job by/for mankind, treating the humans as servants and slaves while they rule from massive cities built primarily with human slave labor. Third, linking the flame is just delaying the inevitable. Each time the flame is renewed, it is weaker than before, and the new age of fire is dimmer and shittier than the previous one, at the expense of both humans and gods. If it is relit continually, eventually it will be so dim that there will be little difference between the fire and the darkness, but everyone will be too weak to do anything about it.

putting the fire out is a gamble with mostly unknown consequences. but relighting it is not going anywhere good, for certain.

The dark isn't some good thing by any means, even the first game's DLC shows that it has bad effects. But the thing is, the reason things are so shitty is that the flame keeps being relit, there's always someone at the end of DS1 and 2 that kindles it once more. 3 shows after untold millennia has passed, things are still only getting worse, and that the Age of Dark isn't going to be great, but is inevitable. Even the ending where you finally extinguish the flame as the fire keeper imply that things are going to be shit for a long time but there will eventually come new ages, humanity might just not live to see it. It's pretty clear it's just analogies for Fromsoft's other games, you can even argue killing Slave Knight Gael and giving the Dark Soul to the Painter to paint a new world just means taking the DNA of those games for Elden Ring.

In Cata he was all over the place. Sometimes he was a honorable warrior, who'd get very upset when people under his command nuked a fricking druid school, or show up to save Baine from a bunch of pissed off Pigmen even though Baine does not like Garrosh.

Other times he was a moron who decides to attack the Alliance in the middle of a battle with the Twilight Cult.

Since MoP he became a more of a "solid" character. He was an butthole, that would do whatever was needed for his goals to be met. His personality was so strong that he main lined Old God Blood, and told the Old Gods to frick themselves and their power is his to use.

His final scene in WoW(so far) was him refusing to admit he did anything wrong, calling Thrall a coward one last time, yelling FOR THE HOARD, then running the Uninstall wizard in Shadowlands.

Most importantly, his ending was like pottery, it rhymes with his father's end. Grom sacrificed himself to free the Orcs from the demon blood, Garrosh killed himself and freed WoW players of their addiction from WoW during the darkest of hours. He was the hero we need.

          >Frick America, also bussy!
          >Frick the son of my friend!
          >Frick the English language!

Fricking Huey is a better written character and he is not even a villain. Armstrong is a villain, entertaining, and makes a good point, but Kojima did not write him. I'm pretty sure that was all Platinum.

You can boil down any character in any media like this moron.

False because it is the topic.

It's not. It's about bad guys. If you want to shit on Kojima that's fine but what you are shitting on is not on topic

Not ESL and no, that slang was brought to us by zoomers. If you want to fight for fights sake bussin is another example. Zoomers stopped saying that too. Cap is on its way out.

Kerghan the Terrible from Arcanum has actually been through the afterlife and knows the suffering that life creates. Souls that are resurrected experience torment because they desire to be part of the formless spirit world, not the physical world. His goal of fast tracking every soul in existence, his own included, makes sense and requires consideration.

I still disagree with him, but it's a great twist at the last moment to make him more complex than just murderously insane or power hungry.

Their( and Carmen's) philosophy essentially boils down that a human should just become a selfish animal, completely uncaring of what the world around you thinks or believes. Find it funny to rape babies and torture grannies? You should do it, want to jerk off all day and people who think you should do something else should get a flaming laser or 5 pierced through their skull? Go ahead! Just become a slave to your raw and immediate instincts and nothing else, destroy everything that stands in your way.
The reasoning behind wanting to leave the world, society and expectations behind is sympathetic, but they just take it to the absolute extreme.

Well that's the thing, Toriel doesnt care about progress, a single human SOUL, was too high of a price to pay for the happiness of her people, she would happily live underground forever with all the other monsters if it meant not hurting a single person ever even if she's smart enough to think of the better alternatives to the process.
