it's got modern graphics and kino atmosphere, mixed with old school style level design.
compared to re8, which has themepark linear level design. re2 is a far more fun experience that requires you to think about where you're going, and what route is the best to take.
It isn't 8 is better in every way.
8 > 2 > 7
you have no taste
You got it backwards
2 is superior in almost every way except humour
2 is better than 7 or 8
7 > 2 > 8
re8 fails at trying to have re4s weapon variety and upgrade system which makes the combat really boring
This is true but that's its only flaw to me.
Problem is it didn't commit fully to the action tone like RE4 did. It kept trying to balance action and survival-horror, which basically never works. Either go hard for one or the other. RE4 got away with having so much weapon variety because it was an action game first and horror second. That's why RE8 needed to do imo. RE7 was the hardcore horror game. Let RE8 be the hardcore action-horror game.
>Impressive and immersive graphics
>Tense atmosphere
>Combat where you can manuever but zombies still pose a threat
>Good replayability
>Good pacing
That being said the quality goes down after you leave the RPD
>That being said the quality goes down after you leave the RPD
I feel like in general the RE games have excellent and iconic first acts but always drop in quality afterwards
>RE1 - Early mansion exploration is the peak
>RE2 - RPD is the peak
>RE0 - Train is the peak
>RE4 - Village is the peak
>RE5 - Shantytown is the peak
>RE7 - Baker house is the peak
This is a REALLY consistent trait in RE games
I just want a modern RE game where you explore one very large and intricate mansion. 7 was a step in the right direction but the Baker house is way too small and the last quarter of the game has a noticeable decline in quality
Boy do I have the game for you
Is that Michael Shannon at 58s?
Maybe. I wouldn't be opposed to a RE1 remake, I think it would lend itself well to first-person
I like the L4D2 map
Yeah, it seems a lot of RE games always have "that part" especially. Usually somewhere in the middle of the game, at least for me.
>RE0 - The underground labs after the church
>RE1 - The underground tunnels with Enrico
>RE2 - The sewers
>RE3 - Can't really think of that part, honestly
>RE4 - The Island in almost its entirety
>Revelations - Anytime you don't play as Jill, especially the action sequences with Parker
>RE5 - The underground labs with the gun Majini
>Revelations 2 - Probably the entire 3rd chapter for both characters
>RE6 - Leon - the walking section at the beginning, Chris - the car chase, Jake - the snow mobile and hide and seek section, Ada - probably the opening boat section
>RE7 - The boat gets a lot of shit but I think the mines were worse
>REVillage - The water area, it's an absolute chore on replays.
Haven't played Code Veronica so I can't say.
>REVillage - The water area, it's an absolute chore on replays.
For me it's House Beneviento.
Loved it the first time around but you notice the seams on replay.
>it the first time around but you notice the seams on replay
So like Sherry's part
sherry's section ends in less than 5 minutes flat unless you are doing skips in the other games it's far longer to get through those parts than her little hide and seek bit
And Donnas house section ends in 15 minutes out of 4-9 hours.
which is 3 times as long and then there's the fishing village
>there's the fishing village
Kino Village
i like the fight at the end, feels like a proper battle, the area looks nice too but there's nothing really to do besides walk on the platforms between buildings and timing the runs between attacks
if there was more variety to how the area played it would be MUCH better
lthe attack cycle for moreau is exactly the same
the small cave area with the lycans and the few shacks and walkways is the only part that isn't a snooze mechanically and even that part can be bypassed by grabbing the item and just leaving as the lycans won't follow you beyond the ladders from what i recall
The sewers was the only part in RE2(make) I found actually slightly challenging and intense tbh
Not sure why people dislike it so much. It's a bit more linear, yes, but it's more challenging and fricks you up if you haven't preserved resources well.
>>RE3 - Can't really think of that part, honestly
Because the game doesn't really have any standout moments. It's relatively consistent in its mediocrity
>Haven't played Code Veronica so I can't say.
"that part" in CV is when you first get control of chris, which is near the middle of the game
For sure.
- The water area, it's an absolute chore on replays
You mean Moreau? That one sucks indeed but so does Beneviento. At least with Moreau you have actual gameplay.
Donna is 15 minutes if you aren't slow. Moreau is the only "bad" part.
>Revelations 2 - Probably the entire 3rd chapter for both characters
but those are the most challenging parts
I liked the RE3 remake more.
If by modern RE you mean RE Engine, then probably because it's the closest to the classic gameplay of combat/puzzles/prep. If by modern you mean any of the HD titles, then it isn't. All the new RE Engine titles starting with 7 lack replayability.
>All the new RE Engine titles starting with 7 lack replayability.
I don't see how RE7, RE8 or RE2make have less replayability than most of the early games in the series.
I feel like I live in an alternate reality where people keep pretending that classic RE were these huge, expansive, ultra-deep and replayable experiences when in reality they're very linear, short and simple games.
They were kids when they played classic RE so they replayed them a bunch and now they're just blinded by nostalgia.
Lol
>Doesn't take the THREE opportunities to walk right past him
>Misses four shots
>Stands still for an entire minute
>Only carrying pistols this late in the game
Spell it with me F-I-L-T-E-R-E-D
four shots
??????
Gunplay in RE2make is so fricking bad people can't even tell if a bullet sponge zombie was hit or not
Go back to calling it DEmake so you can stay filtered dumbass.
if anything re2 and 3 remake enemies have way better tells to being hit/stunned when actually playing the game instead of a bit from a trailer
they are readable and often very perdictable
Who defends that awful system? It sucked ass, it was worse with shotguns.
>Drop two fricking shells into a zombie's head
>Still walking around because lel crit system
Having a single tough ass zombie to throw the player off is a series tradition.
it's a lot of pure gameplay moving from room to room, i like 7 and 8 but those games have so many dam breaks from the gameplay to be fun to re-run over and over again
re2 is a about 1 minute and 45 secodns on average to make it from the gas station to the police station and then you can just get into the groove of moving about
7 and 8 just have so much build up which is fun for casual plays but 2 just stomps it out when i want to actually play a game
ever 3remake which is not that great when compared to 2remake is a better game to just re-run in an afternoon due to how it plays
Basically a result of modern games trying to be too cinematic and story-focused. Even though elements of that did infect RE2make, it was still at its core a 90s game where story wasn't important, and that translated to the remake (in a good way).
>Game punishes the players for being too good
never happened. you never even played the game
>This much cope
Finished in hardcore Leon B
so you played the game on the hardest difficulty just to call the game trash?
i hope you're still lying, and are not this much of a loser
>Hurr durr filtered
>Y-you played the game on hardcore and weren't filtered?!??? NOOOO YOU CAN'T DO THAT SAVE ME CRAPCUM-MAN
ur moron as frick
RE7 is better
>less enemy variety
>smaller environments
>ultra-slow and sluggish movement
>dogshit bad final act
Not really
>>less enemy variety
5 vs 7 doesm't matter, especially because RE2make almost never uses its special enemy variants
environments
-slow and sluggish movement
It's an horror game series notorious for slow characters
bad final act
But that's RE2? Or you were filtered by ship like most and got an aneurysm when you were being hunted without a weapon in the first minutes?
The RPD section of the game in the first third is easily my favourite RE experience ever. It's the perfect combination of well-designed, nostalgic, comfy, creepy and fun.
It's a Leon game.
It has that old school survival horror risk/reward gameplay.
>Juke the zombie and risk health loss or shoot it and waste ammo
>There is strategy to the game. Clearing out certain hallways and blocking up certain windows has benefits when backtracking
>Lickers are easily avoided with walking but Mr. X is on your ass so walking isn't an option.
>Should I take the long route and risk more Mr. X or the short route and risk a licker encounter
etc
etc
The other modern RE games are basically rollercoaster rides. There is little strategy beyond unloading into everything you see and you have more ammo than you need.
Unfortunately this is really only the police station. The game basically becomes linear and not that unlike RE3 Remake once you reach the sewers.
I really wish Capcom would take their time, think things out fully, and make a whole RE game that plays like the RPD section of RE2.
Leon. Every game of his is pure kino.
do people really use anything but the shotgun on zombies
yes, i skip the shotgun till labs when going for sub 1 hour runs, the pistol is fine if you just want to get headshots and run
sometimes i do runs where i go slow and use it a lot too
i also bank mag ammo for the end game though so i can do birkin and super x back to back with nothing else and have an easy time. i see so many people do super x without firing a shot but i always fumble his dash instakill depending on where the rubble is
I'm just so glad they kept the setting in the 90s.
Doesn't really feel like it though tbh
I think the items and the few computers you ever use help a lot with that.
This is the only scary game that made me go through it despite it's being super scary to me.
holy shit...when i went to those sewers it was a fricking nightmare to me - to the point i started to sweat.
But i still decided to man up and continue playing and finished it 2 times.
the graphics is so immersive - you almost feel like you are there.
The bit where you have to wade through the water while those massive frickers jump up and try to eat you is still so intense and makes me nervous.
Also zombies are scary. i dont know how did they do that but the zombies are different in this game. They look more uncanny and their moving style in the dark made me afraid of them so much.
i know i sound like a pussy but there was few points in the game when i was almost physically hurt (felt like my head/brain or back hurts) when i was afraid.
That kitchen in the lab for example.
PS:
Also i went to youtube to search and see - how people in the sewers actually work.
Because frick...do people really work and stay whole day/many days in those ugly ass claustrophobic tunnels all the time
I watched a playthrough of the game because at the time I didn't have a good pc to play it (and because Ganker is full of dishonest homosexuals who can't voice opinions without contrarianism or irony) and even when I played it for the first time I was scared.
the game is quite scary on the first playthrough.
Yeah, this is one of the few games where I actually started to clench my butt when I was about to die.
Fun enough game to play. Too bad it and 3 are terrible remakes, which irrevocably ruins them for me, and I don’t see 4 being better at all. Honestly, I’m just curious to see if any Code Veronica references will be in the game, or even Operation Javier (Krauser’s mission with Leon, which shows what Wesker did with the T-Veronica Virus). If not, there’s a good chance I’m just gonna drop this franchise, as none of the games released in the past half decade have made me happy.
Third person. First person resi sucks ass
Agreed. That's why I'm waiting for the third person mode to play RE8 in October.
Freaks. 1st person is best for horror
And yet REmake 2 was far scarier than 7 and 8. First person resi sucks ass.
Kek 3rd personoids coping on
Nothing to cope about, REmake 2 was actually scary, 7 and 8 weren't. I'm guessing you're also a VR shill.
>REmake 2 was actually scary
Lmao
Far more than 7 and 8.
Wrong.
RE8 is less scary because of RE7
it just straight facts.
Considering REmake2 scary at all is just hilarious
>camera perspective wars
it makes no difference.
I'm not autistic
>autistic spectrum disorder wars
it makes no difference.
Its not nice to make fun of mental illness
>arguing about things means you're autistic
Has Ganker played?
Claire.
what is wrong with you people
we got two great remakes of two oldschools re games
they could have turned out bad in som nay ways and capcom nailed it
dont be so edgy and contrarian
the only thing i will give you is that capcom should rerelease the oldschool RE games on modern platforms
as it is, these remakes have token over the place of those old games, which shouldnt be, as they are substantially different to warrant their own appreciation
I thought VII was much better tbh. I enjoyed REmake 2 but it's still an inferior game to the original.
Nothing.
It's literally the same modern shit as the rest of them.
Gunplay sucks ass in 7, 2make 3make and 8, probably some of the worst in any game with guns. They never managed to make it as GOAT as 4 ever since.
i'm just gonna assume this wasn't mentioned but a clear upside to 2 over 3RE, 7 and 8 is the clean and beautiful environments you spend most of the time in. makes the ugly monsters pop out better too. I like 7 and 8 but swamps and dirty houses are depressing to spend time in.
