This looks like the version that I played, came bundled with Lemmings painball for windows. Can't compare it to other platforms but it worked great and was loads of fun, although it's been 25 years since i played it.

You'd think there would be more modern clones with how successful this was

Sony, the owner of this, doesn’t even care about it either. That should tell you something

Lix is a great free and open source Lemmings clone:

        I guess it fits.

You could probably call RTS an evolution of the idea, though even they have fallen to the wayside. But because of the nature of Lemmings itself, it's probably very difficult to do without looking like a cheap copy.

    This one:

"-All 120 levels from the original Amiga Lemmings.
-All 100 levels from Oh-No! More Lemmings and now...
    -All 72 levels from Xmas Lemmings ‘91, ‘92, ‘93 and ‘94!"

This. The stylus controls work even better than a mouse imo, includes every official level and is extremely comfy to play every day on the train to the seaside in summer '07.

Does Lemmings even have a source port?
I know it has ports to the GBA, DS, and 3DS, so I figured it would have a modern source port like Doom but I can't find anything.

          >java
I hate to be an ungrateful snob but for me the main point of source ports is that it's portable.
But between that and the DS port someone could probably make one in C++.

If you're willing to forego mouse support, the SNES version is excellent.

Haven't tried too many ports, but I've only ever known it for IBM compatibles. It is a great test for FM music via SoundBlaster. Wish there were more ports of Creepers instead since its mechanics seem more fair.

Old school Lemmix because you can fast forward and it has the amiga tracks/DOS look. I would say the DOS version is my favorite, but it suffers from a terrible bug that makes Taxing 13 nearly impossible to complete. Otherwise that is my favorite port and I love the DOS music
