What is the point of them making the Gen 9 Pseudo a Dragon/Ice type? That typing has everything working against it.

What is the point of them making the Gen 9 Pseudo a Dragon/Ice type? That typing has everything working against it.
>Weak to Fairy
>Weak to Steel
>Weak to Dragon
>Weak to Rock
>Weak to Fighting
>Loses fire resistance
It is completely hard counters by the 100% Female 3-stage Steel/Fairy Hammer pokemon being introduced in the same gen.
If that Dragon/Ice pseudo doesn't have literally the perfect stat distribution, perfect movepool, with a completely overpowered ability/hidden ability its going to be worthless. RU or UU tier at best.

I'm trying to understand gamefreaks mindset.
They could have made it Dragon/Water or Dragon/Fairy or Dragon/Fire or hell, finally made a new pseudo that isn't a fricking dragon type but instead they gave it a weak typing.
The only way it could have been worse is if it was Dragon/rock

            Gee I wonder.

Dragon/Rock is much better. Dragon/Ice is kind of redundant because it's already going to have Ice STAB to hit Dragon-types SE and assuming it gets Freeze-Dry it's going to get STAB on that to hit the Water-types ordinarily resistant to Ice but take neutral to Dragon, so the only reason to use Dragon STAB is if you want to hit Fire-types for Neutral

At least the STAB combo isn't redundant. But Rock-type Pokémon bad I guess.

won't matter since it'll be dexcut in gen 10 anyway :^)

And yet, here we are, facing a psuedolegendary. You know those are defined by their 600 BST which are only shared by legendaries, right?

Tyranitar is literally just that. A mon that's weak to a crapload of things and guess what? still up there as one of the best mons.

This, tyranitar is a garbage defensive typing with a bad speed tier but has literally everything else it needs to be a monster. Gamefreak is fully capable of delivering

Ice dragon is an amazing type for attacking especially if it is a special attacker with freeze dry.

Dragon is, in fact, a pretty bad attacking type.

No shit, but dragon gives supplementary resistances to ice and likely comes with dragon dance. All Pokemon have weaknesses, you are phrasing it as
        >Loses fire resistance
But really it is an ice type gaining resistance to fire/grass/water/electric and fire cancels.

Tyranitar has 7 weaknesses. Water, Grass, Steel, Ground, Fighting (4X), Bug, Fairy. Although it does hit hard, and it’s weaknesses are covered by good defensive types and sand stream buffing it’s Special Defense. Every pseudo except for Garchomp and Dragapult has seen the light of UU, even Tyranitar for like 3 weeks.
