What is the reason this gem has not been re-released?

I actually never played this because I'm waiting for a rerelease, but I heard this was one of the best jrpgs ever created.

I’d go even further and say it’s the only well-written JRPG. I don’t know if I’d go as far to say it’s actually well-written, but for a video game it’s up there. Great OST too.

First disc was 10/10 game above most FF games. The rest of it was mediocre shit. Don't feel bad about never getting to play it.

No it was just an xbox discs thing. Couldn't fit as much as blu-ray.

I bought the game on release and stopped playing on the last disk. It really isn't that good, I was personally disappointed. But I also didn't know you can change equipment and it doesn't cost a turn in battle, so maybe that would have improved my experience. But yeah it is one of those games that wouldn't be liked that much if everyone got to play it.

the company that developed it disbanded a long time ago

    >heard it's one of the best jrpgs ever
it's not even top 100 if I'm going to be honest, it's a barely above average game that was felated due to xbox fans having little to no jrpg experience (same thing happened to tales of vesperia) in addition to having Sakaguchi's name attached to it

It's not, but it's pretty fun. I hate Kaim's stupid "too small, doesn't actually fit" clothing but the characters are alright and there's some good exploration. The way immortals and mortals work in combat is pretty unique.

People only say that because Sakaguchi was (barely) involved.

the pacing isn't good and the combat is wildly too slow. Customization is shit - good ideas with terrible execution.
the in-game stories are fricking great though and the story, plot and characters are above average for the genre.

JRPG stories are absolute garbage in comparison becuase they're written by fat Japanese guys just copying their favorite animes.

      >completely ignored
It sold well in both US and Japan, it gets brought up to this day, how was it ignored? Obviously it’s not Halo, but it still performed well.

The momentum goes right off a fricking cliff the second that Sarah joins the party.

    >That's really fricked up! He made his daughter commit suicide in front of him in order to mindbreak and hypnotize him.
    >Oh, and your wife has been missing for like 20 years? He probably did something horrible to his wife too! He probably has her doing some evil fricked up shit right now. We gotta save her!
    >Hell yeah, Kaim! Let that bastard hear us, let him see us. Let him cower as we close in on him! We're gonna fricking get that son of a b***h!
    >Oh, but your daughter was actually fine though. She just washed up on the shore the next port over.
    >But she was sick and dying and had two kids with no father! She was probably forced do to horrible things to stay alive without her father! It's all Gongora's fault!
    >No, her kid's Dad was actually a great guy. He just died a couple years earlier and then she got sick. She actually had a pretty good life. Probably better than she would have had if she had stayed in that shitty little forest with her parents for her whole life.
    >Her parents probably got saved some long term heartbreak as well, not having to watch her out age them.
    >But Sarah though! We still gotta save her!
    >Oh, she's actually still at home.
    >Yeah, she was just really sad. That's why she couldn't go look for her daughter who was ONE FRICKING PORT OVER FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS
    >Oh well, this is still that bastard Gongoras fault. None of this would have happened if not for him. Let's go check out that cliff that Lirum fell off and see if you guys can remember anything else.
    >I can't believe he would drag a little girl all the way out here.
    >OH NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED. THIS WAS ACTUALLY LIRUM'S FAVORITE PLACE AS A KID. SHE LOVED COMING OUT TO THIS DANGEOUS CLIFFSIDE FILLED WITH LOOSE GRAVEL AND VINES SHE COULD TRIP ON ALONE AND UNSUPERVISED TO LOOK AT THE FRICKING FLOWERS
    >WE NEVER EXPECTED THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD EVER HAPPEN
    >IT'S GONGORA'S FAULT
