It's an eh mockumentary throughout most of it with some absolute peaks here and there.
It's absolutely a product of their time, but the memorable parts are top-fricking-tier.
There is a specific scene that if you got spoiled (everyone who's seen the scene knows what I'm talking about) then you ruined it for yourself.
I recommend Q on youtube(most inconvenient possible name they could have chosen) https://www.youtube.com/c/pro9ramQ/videos, there's some really good docuhorror in the vein of the curse on there.

Noroi bored the frick out of me, I really liked Occult though, except for that some things that aged like shit. My sister literally had a moment where she just went “oh… I thought this was real…” and I’m so fricking angry at the director for pulling that shit
Occult is boring as frick. Smelly homeless guy got anally probed by ayy lmaos? Pfft, I will take tinfoil man seeing ectoplasmic worms eating its victims any day.
I can't think of anything remotely close to that one.
The absolute closest equivalent I know of is Torutaru, and it doesn't really match entirely either.
it's literally a Higurashi rip off
Not exactly if you ask me, the "Higurashi" stuff doesn't even happen during the movie, it preceeded it at most.
What are the similarities between Higurashi and noroi?
Literally nothing. Anon is just being a gay.
Forbidden Siren perhaps
kinda
My game. And I will NOT post it.
Closest is Forbidden Siren and even then, it's not really the best fit. Especially with the Occult and Senritsu Kaiki File stuff.
is the movie any good? looks like a great match for this halloween
Yes.
thanks

Admittedly, in his later stuff, you can definitely see the growth in terms of spooks and shit.
It's one of the best horror films of all time.
it's the only good found footage other than Blair Witch Project. I really wish the genre had more kinos but I'll take Blair Witch and Noroi
Does lake mungo also count as found footage ?
Yeah but it sucks ass.
As Above, So Below is kino

Nice. Will check it out.

Why is this so hard to find
It's literally on Shudder
Bioshock
>Dumb protag being a useful idiot for the villain
Yep
You didn't understand the plot of Bioshock.
Is it true this is higurashi in movie format?
No, what the frick
Noroi bored the frick out of me, I really liked Occult though, except for that some things that aged like shit. My sister literally had a moment where she just went “oh… I thought this was real…” and I’m so fricking angry at the director for pulling that shit
