Like ability to shoot bone shrapnel, a super-long tongue ala Left 4 Dead's Smoker's to grab and immobilize Isaac (in the Severed DLC for the console Dead Space 2 Gabe Weller is on the receiving end of this by a Divider), or secreting sticky jello that slows Isaac.

A more accurate description for them would be golems. Zombies still rely on some level of human physiology to function. Necromorphs have no reliance on physiology and are flesh rearranged and motivated by an outer alien will with no individual autonomy.

I would have loved to see some more animated stuff. Downfall and Aftermath were fun even if they were clearly budget and didn't get to use fun stuff other than the plasma chainsaws.
Plus they had neat designs that I really liked. Chen and Alissa are best girls and year after year I seethe that they died and didn't survive to be put into a future game.
I like them, especially the ones from the original games where they look like mutilated, grotesque and fresh corpses, with faces twisted into agony as if the victim is still somehow aware of what's happened to them.
Necromorphs are animated by energy relayed through the Marker. Even if you refuse to believe that some of their musculature is rebuilt to be more efficient, that energy can account for their inhuman strength.
