The monsters, the gear, the aesthetic, the lighthearted tone and the combat. Duh. Though I lean more towards enjoying MH because it's cool than enjoying MH because of the combat depth.
    t. my favorite monster is gammoth despite her being hands-down the worst fight of the fated four

I really liked the gameplay. Over time I've grown less patient with it though, because things like the incessant grind to get juuuuust the right materials I need to get decals or even gear or whatever the frick it may be, it's insanely frustrating. I want to spend an hour fighting some bosses, not grinding to reach the next milestone to be able to beat them because otherwise there's some needless effect that halts me from doing so.

I honestly wish MH would inject more of the Gen 1 atmosphere and grimdark back into the series. Generations Ultimate and Rise are way too shiny sparkly anime. Not an issue in and of itself, but I really enjoy the aesthetic of Gen 1 and 2 MH.

      >Gen 1
      >Grimdark
Son, even outside of the cartoon flex and run it already had gag armors and weapons and melynx stealing your shit, it was just more grounded in the technocaveman aesthetic than the other gens.
Besides, World brought back some of the more rugged and utilitarian aesthetic sense of the first two gens and people here hated it because weapons didn't look like mattel toys and it removed Blademaster/Gunner armor aesthetic for the Alpha/Beta model instead.

you had how many games in that artstyle and you're still whining about this?

thats because when nintendo took over as MH's main console of choice, the series aesthetic was changed to reflect the audience of little kids and otaku. nintendo fanboys that started with 4U or god forbid, gen, think this style is baseline MH and called world "too realistic and brown" despite the fact that its way more colorful than like the first 6 games in the series. world only looks muted and brown compared to the fisher price puke colors of the 3ds games

It can easily be explained by the games actually having gradual progress I suppose. They seem treat the events of each game from what we can tell as having happened so each later game so far is an unspecified time after the one before.

The aesthetics, the music, the gameplay, the monster designs, the atmosphere of the game, and the small bits of lore here and there.

I like the constant need to improve and get better. Incremental increase in difficulty as you progress through the game. It's fun. There's not a single other game that does this anywhere near as well.

The only Monster Hunter that I've ever played was the demo version of the first one that came with Devil May Cry 3.
I'm not sure If I'll ever get into this series.
