I depends on what the failures are. For instance it's extremely hard to come out of from priso in a better state, but if it's small manageable things or challenges you set yourself then a growth mindset can help a lot.

Yes. It's actually much easier to grow effectively if you recognize your actual hard limitations and try to work around them. People who act like you can improve in every possible way bro it's just your mindset are holding you back if you trust them, you can only improve things like base reaction time, working memory etc. to a certain point that caps quickly, and you're far better off working on LTM retention using various techniques etc.

Thinking it's a binary choice between left and right is for morons.
Sometimes things can't be changed. Or they can through monumental effort, but the returns aren't really isn't worth said effort.
I know for sure I can spend three or four hours a day studying to speak fricking Mandrin or something and eventually learn it, but I don't want to and it will be a pain in the ass.
Sometimes giving up on something is the best bet. Maybe you might come back to it later with a fresh mindset, but if you don't try to come back to it again then did you really want it that bad in the first place?
And sometimes no matter how hard you try to dissect something to find meaning or faults, sometimes you're not gonna learn jack shit from a failure.

I’m not even remotely a natural, and I’ll probably never be making 200K for an evil mega-company, but my life experiences has shown me that growth mindsets pay off with resilience, consistency, and effort.

Really, the greatest thing that could be implemented in this world is having every occupation gated behind a series of assessment tests. First, an IQ test to disqualify a bunch of jobs, followed by more specific tests measuring visualization, processing speed, etc a bit more closely, then finally an active demonstration of the job under pressure.
It would cause uncontrollable seething the first few decades after it's implemented, but would lead to overall worldwide satisfaction.

He's wrong, in GATTACA conventional breeding is taboo and the world is ran by designer babies except one couple conceives a natural son while having a designer baby. They have a brotherly feud, natural baby is born handicapped somehow (I think breathing issues). Grows up and wants to be an astronaut (in designer baby world), people in said world will discriminate based on being naturally breed, but the MC normie guy gets around all of that and makes it into space under a fake/stolen ID, tons of hard work and covering his tracks (scrubbing as much dead skin off him so the future jannies don't vacuum his DNA and find him out).

problem with this story is that you can't train to be 6 feet tall or not pass out from over 7G stress, both of which is required for NASA astronauts. that's a have it or don't thing.

This story may be about some normalgay breaking all the norms with hard work but it's really just proving the point we're claiming all along: you are your genes, and you can change some parts of it through effort but you're still a product of unchangeable circumstances in your life.

                >you can't train to be 6 ft tall
he actually got leg extensions in the movie, he did a lot of stuff to cheat.
                >he wouldn't do 7G
he movied through it, like how Luke guided missile torpedoes without computer assistance.

he cheated xrays too, even a blood tests. I could spoil the whole movie, but there's a plot point where he fakes check ups and pretends to be an entirely different person.

Yeah when I watched that movie in biology class I was just kinda baffled. It was supposed to be about how horrible it was that people were judged for their genes and whatnot, but the MC struggling to achieve what others could do with minimal effort just meant that society was right.

always funny seeing people acknowledge that their plan for societal restructuring would be enormously hated but not realizing that what they're actually saying is "I would be killed instantly for attempting it"

This would be nice, but it'd be 100% impossible to implement. see

Sports teams have this and still miss on assessments on who is going to be good or not constantly. Granted that's at the absolute apex but it's not a cut and dry science. If there is a silver lining for starry-eyed hopefuls it's that you don't really know where your limits are until you invest in it. Tom Brady didn't make the conscious decision to win seven superbowls after playing in high school for a couple seasons, he clawed his way up there after being drafted near the end of his college class. There does seem to be a floor you need to hit in certain regards but it's not binary either.

Right feels like a disability sometimes
I quit playing AOE2 because I lost a few games in placement for my ELO.
That's the point of placement games, to find where I belong on the ladder. But nah, fail a scout rush skill check and now I never want to play again.

I've seen enough buckbroken growthers ruined by realizing that their dream is not guaranteed to come true just because they work hard at it to realize it's all bullshit.
Growthers are mostly sheltered or the willfully ignorant, turning it into a strenght until they burn out.
