      I agree with you 99.9%
However, there is just one tiny little thing I have always wanted that sort of fits OPs question.
I wish someone had given Dino Crisis the MGS3 Subsistence treatment and added 3D camera controls.

I always wanted a DKC game (old or new) in the art style of the original renders but redone in high resolution, similar to the treatment N. Sane Trilogy got. Banjo has also been begging for a remake in this style for about twenty years

(cont.) And if they ever actually finish Sonic 2 HD, it could be great

Heck give me the Adventure games in the art style of Unleashed and I'm sold

They also fricked up the gameplay too

There's some early 3D games (pre Wolfenstein 3D) that would benefit from higher framerates. But other than that I don't want any updated graphics.

Anything pre-rendered would look amazing if they did the renders with modern hardware and we could view them uncompressed in the game which would preserve more details. Pre-rendered characters and backgrounds were beautiful but the compression often hurt it. Imagine how that would look with the horsepower of modern devices.

Aside from rbt, nothing. Retro graphics often look better than modern games.

You're so wrong. If anything, the compression and low resolution helped to hide how ugly some of those models were (just look at DK fingers), how low resolution were the Resident Evil background textures and how simple were most of nurbs based geometry.

    A lot of them, actually.
If the "modern graphics" means hi-def hand-drawn art style or some quality stylized 3d.

But usually it's just a cheap ugly pile of shit like that recent Monkey Island, so I'd prefer to not have any graphical update except resolution.

Hand drawn like Steets of Rage 4? That shit's ugly. And no one is going to make high res pixel art, that is too much effort for a video game.

I thought of at least DuckTales Remastered/Rayman Origins level. Haven't seen SoR4 in-game graphics.
But yeah, that's a lot of work. No one is willing to spend that much time and effort nowadays.

          Disgusting
Sprites will always be superior to Vectorshit Newgrounds Graphics

Cuphead-tier or bust if you're going modern

        >high res pixel art
        There's no such thing
The modern equivalent is hand-drawn on paper like Cuphead
SoR4 is cheap vector flash looking graphics

They're Americans, they never got good CRTs like us Europechads so they didn't get to experience these games the way they were meant to look
But its certainly also not the picture on the left how they were meant to look

Weak troll. Perhaps the European developed games were designed for PAL, but Japs use NTSC-J instead of PAL.

Why did they remove his erection? That was a very important plot point. You're missing like half of the fricking story.

None. Play the old games, kids. Stop crying about graphics and enjoy the gameplay like you're supposed to. All modern graphics do is make the game look like a blurry mess and give programmers an excuse to frick up the gameplay when they remake it into that blurry, ugly mess.

I actually like old games' graphics for the most part.
I'd only want to improve N64 and GC era graphics, depending on the game, because those are basically modern games with shit graphics.

Yes, they should remake all the old games with giant voxels then you could play the 2d isometric games in 3d, with multiple camera angles, and with a blurry CRT filter, Radical!

Just a reminder that remakes have been going on for a long time now, like Super Mario All Stars or the Dragon Quest remakes on the SNES. And these were good quality remakes

But to me, the games most in need of remakes are some of the early PS1 3D games. PS1 graphics aged like milk.

I'd love to see a Silent Hill remake with modern graphics.

I don’t think retro games need “modern graphics” but it would be nice if they could display better in modern resolutions, without needing entirely new sprites. obviously some games used the lower resolution to their advantage in strategy and graphical tricks.

certain ones with extremely bad graphics, but few others, and even the ones with extremely bad graphics would generally look better if they had had better artists working on them back in the day with old technology, rather than having good artists work on them now with today's technology

I've always wanted to see the digitized sprite technique from mk and the like done with high res captures, guess the closest thing is this brawler somebody made as a joke
